great authentic korean food as favored by lot of others.

Self service. Order at the counter. Go back to get your food. Throw away your trash and return bowls yourself. Weird to have wooden chopsticks in a Korean restaurant. Koreans use metal chopsticks. Dolsot bibimbap was satisfying. Insufficient heating for cold days.

A dive with cafeteria style seating. Very cramped and busy during lunch. Many students appear to frequent the spot. Despite how crowded it was, I was able to find a table. It was kind of confusing figuring out their ordering system. I initially thought this was a waitressing establishment, but quickly figured out that you have to order at the front with the cashier. A couple of tables are squeezed right next to the cash register –so that you can feel even more cramped. The cashier gives you a ticket after you’ve ordered your meal. In the meantime, you can try to find and stake out your table. They have a digital counter both in the dining area and the cashier area, so that you can watch for your number on your ticket to come up. The bim bim bap lunch deal I got was OK. Serving size was paltry –definitely skimping on the meat. I wasn’t ravenous, so this was OK, but if I had been really hungry, this would not have been enough food to be filling. The tray is supposed to be returned to where the cashier is –there’s a black metal tray receiver thing on the right side by the kitchen. It was kind of confusing at first, but another customer, who appeared to be a regular, helped me with placing the tray correctly onto it. I’m unlikely to return because the food wasn’t that impressive and the space is too cramped for my taste.

This place brings back so many memories of my college years. Ever since I discovered this place back when I was a freshman at the U of M, I have dined at this restaurant almost a hundred times. I am not exaggerating! FOOD– Everything on the menu is cooked piping hot to order. You could see the tiny kitchen when you order. You know the food is delicious because the people cooking them are a family of Koreans. Super authentic. I highly recommend the beef and pork bulgogi, kimchi chigae, soon du bu, as well as the dol sot bimbimbop. All of the dishes are served with unlimited side dishes. What is most delicious about the dishes is that all are served piping hot. PRICE– The price is cheap for no frill good Korean food. Most dishes are under $ 10 and there are several dishes for $ 7.99 from 11 – 3 pm excluding weekends. That is a bargain! You will leave very full and satisfied especially on a cold winter day. AMBIANCE/SERVICE– If the décor and ambiance is important to you, then this might not be the restaurant for you. The place is super tiny and pretty rundown. And you will definitely leave with a heavy stench of Korean food since they have almost no ventilation. As far as the service goes, it is owned by Koreans that doesn’t speak much English. Come for the food that is served hot and fresh.

Went here for the first time last week with a friend for lunch. They have $ 7.49 lunch specials so it’s affordable food. I got the kimchi stew. It was spicy and packed with kimchi. The sides were small, I wish I could have seen a little more but all in all it was a good experience and I’m thinking of going back today. I’m craving something spicy.

Fast Korean food in a college town. The pictures of the food menu were posted on the wall and you walk up to the counter and place your order. We shared spicy rice cake, Kalbi, and pan fried mackerel. Rice cake was tasty but it was a little too sweet. Kalbi had good flavor but it was also sweet. Mackerel was good. There were several side dishes but the portions were small. Overall the food was not bad. It was okay for lunch but definitely not my kind of Korean restaurant.

Free parking on campus is usually the reason I choose Korean restaurant over Tofu house. I like the food and price. Sometimes, it’s hard to find a table there.

Small parking lot, so be careful. A little cafeteria-style Korean food shop by the university. Relatively cheap, simple, and tasty. The ban chan(Korean side dishes) come with each entrée and is a mix of different items, from kimchis to bean sprouts and potatoes. The bibimbop is filled with more local ingredients(I understand not being able to ship in a lot of the vegetables & roots from a-far at these prices), and you don’t get to mix much of it yourself. The kimchi soup was hot and spicy, which was nice. Bulgogi(beef marinated) + BBQ pork(slightly spicy) were tasty. The seafood panjan(pancakes) were on the thicker side — I could’ve used more soy sauce to dip, but were still hearty pieces for the climate, much like the local pizza. And to go spare trays & cups near the water cooler, so easy to pack up what you can’t eat. Overall, a good mix of dishes and nice simple seasonings. Definitely satisfies the appetite for Korean food for the moment.

First, I should start out by saying that I am a proud Korean who can’t survive without eating some kimchi or at the very least some spicy food. Although you shouldn’t expect a fancy meal here, you can expect to satisfy your Korean food craving. AND it’s right on campus! So even better :) As usual, I came with a friend to appease my kimchi craving. I had a kimchi cchigae(means stew in Korean). It comes with about 4 side dishes and a bowl of rice. They add plenty of kimchi to the stew so I was happy with my kimchi. The place is self service, meaning you get in line to pay for the food and wait until your number is called to pick up your food. Water is also self-served and you are expected to return your empty trays after you are done eating. At lunch time, the place can get packed as there are not a lot of tables available, but you can always order to-go and they will pack all the food for you, side dishes included! Having grown up eating authentic(no MSG) Korean food made by my mom, I would warn people not to expect the best quality food but it is the best you can get on campus. The other Korean restaurants further away from campus are also not the greatest and slightly overpriced so I would say this place is the best option if you are a college student just trying to survive your 4 years of college.

Korea Restaurant is a little hole in the wall that provides delicious, authentic Korean food. Their service is very easy and efficient. The place was quite crowded during Friday’s lunch hour which made it difficult to find seating. It’s important to know that the menu is displayed on the wall opposite of the register. Once you’ve decided on what to eat, pay first at the register, find seating, and wait for your order number to show up on the LED light display. The place has a small parking lot right off of Oak Street that is free. Otherwise there is meter parking in the surrounding area.

Great dive to get authentic and delicious Korean food. The beef bulgogi is really good — not overly saucy or Americanized. Great cut of beef and seasoning is tasty! I like that they have the hot sauce available at each table for you to add the right amount of kick to it. The pork tofu soup is also very flavorful. They have a parking lot which is convenient — although I can see it being full most of the time. Ambience is as expected given a lot of its clientele are college students. If you like Korean food, it’s definitely worth at least one try.

I like this place. I showed up at the beginning of lunch rush, finding two small rooms with lots of tables. It was up to me to figure out how the place worked: the second room has large picture-menus with numbers attributed to each dish. I’m always looking for yakimandu, but so far haven’t found any Korean restaurant that serves it(though this place had a vegetarian version). Then I walked up to the counter, waited for a more aggressive customer to place her order, waited for two people to pick up theirs, then my order was taken and I paid ahead of time. I went back to my table and dinked around on my phone until I heard an electronic musical tone. Someone at another table got up and retrieved their food: I don’t get how the system works, but it seemed like the only person who ever got up at each tone was the one who was actually next to be served. Not me, of course, I kept rising and sitting several times until my food did finally arrive. Ordering took very little time, and cooking took very little time. The dishes are modest but tasty, and(crowd pending) you can be in and out in half an hour. That, combined with the cheaper lunch menu, makes Korea Restaurant a viable option for no-muss, no-fuss dining. Afterward you bus your dishes and that’s it. I’m going to skip the part where I, as a world-wearied white Westerner, authoritatively inform you as to how authentic their food is. That seems to have been covered.

I went here again since my fiancé and I wanted to be in Dinkytown. I was super excited because I love Korean food and I remember the last time I went and it was a good experience. Well today I was unhappy with what they have done. Last time I visited I had pork bulgogi, and it was very good. This time, my fiancé and I got it again and they changed the recipe! I’m not sure why, but it tasted like pork in a buffalo sauce. Super disappointed that they changed their recipe. :( Will I go again? No, not anymore, I know other Korean restaurants with better service, rooming and food.(No, I don’t only eat pork bulgogi, but that is one of my favs)

This is a place I came to many times in college. The campus connector even drop you in this area! Anyway, if you are always looking to try Korean food, but don’t know what to order, this is definitely the ideal place to start. The menu is all up on the wall and have pictures all underneath of it. You just order by number. This is like a fast food style Korean food and also worth every penny. It’s cheap for the food you get. The space needs expanding because it gets so pack there during lunch time. Also, there is limited parking. I always had a good experience there.

Super cramped. Prefer to order takeout. Knocked one star off just cause the environment is too small. Food is great in my opinion :)

Never disappointed at this little joint! We love the spicy pork bulgolgi. We always get it and then try to switch up the second dish. Today we had a kimchee soup with tofu and pork. It was good but really heavy on the veggies. So sad we couldn’t get the galbi though… We always come late and it runs out. :(

I’ve been growing up with Korean food in my life. Overall this place is really good! Minnesota doesn’t have many good Korean restaurants but this place has great food and at a cheaper price compared to other places I’ve been too. I would definitely recommend it! My mom loved it too. The way we ordered and received the food was more convenient than getting a waitress and everything then tipping them afterwards. The only thing that wasn’t top notch was that the chicken bulgogi was kind of drenched in the sauce. I think it should have had more time to marinate and cook into the chicken so it tastes more like bulgogi and not teriyaki.

Notables: Food — Seems like they have a variety on the menu but the dishes are mostly a variation of one another. The banchan(Korean side dishes) were the saddest and smallest I’ve seen at a Korean restaurant. Décor — Feels like you’re in a back alley restaurant, so like much of Asia it has an authentic touch. I could not focus on dinner as the front door continuously made a loud banging sound every time someone walked in. Price — very meh for what you get, and I felt like you didn’t get much of anything since it’s all self service. Like others have said, go to Dong Yang, it may be considered a drive from Stadium Village but it’s worth it.

I went for karaōke and it was so much fun! Seriously I would go back again with a larger group since the karaōke is open until 2am!
