I love the rustic interiors that are just the right amount of quirky and also the fact that they often have great music from local performers. The drinks are standard though, nothing out of ordinary.

Nothing extraordinary in respect to the entry fee. They should upgrade their Dance floor.

Very cool dark atmosphere, however it was not busy at all so it was quite desolate. I would love to revisit when there is more going on! It is definitely something to see. If you on a quest to find interesting places in the cities it’s worth a stop!

Wow. I wish I had this bar in stomping range when I went to school! We just had this one basic cruddy bar, which was pretty plain on the inside but was usually ended up being fun, except that one time… Anywho, Kitty’s is much more cool and hip than what I’ve been to in my day. Oh Jesus I’m getting old. My friend and I met here for a little pregaming before a show at The Northrop(Snow Show ’15). Happy Hour goes until 7pm, which is generous, and the specials are… special: $ 2 – 3 Select Beers, $ 3 House Wines & Rails. In my excitement to see Silversun Pickups and Metric, I totally forgot to eat dinner, so I ordered some mozzarella sticks here. The mozz sticks were pretty cheap, and came out fast and with like 6 – 8 sticks with marinara. Seriously, I would have lived off of this pace if I went to undergrad down the street. I’m a fan of the interior — the bar has a full-circle setup with statues, string lighting, and candles. It’s a little grungy but colorful, if that makes sense. It serves as a venue and hosts several shows, many of which are free. The lounge areas are full of leather seating, rich colors, chandeliers, and mismatched patterns. My friend and I concluded that this must be the prime-time make-out zone. Or study group. Whatever you’re into. I left full, with a couple drinks in me, and just a slightly lighter wallet, and I was ready to start the night. Thanks, Kitty’s!

This is one of my favorite bars in Minneapolis. I love the atmosphere. The lighting is dim and colorful. There are colored light bulbs everywhere. There is random artwork all over the walls, the bar is wood with melted candle wax all over it. The couches are comfortable, large and any person will sink in them. This is a great place for a date and to get together with friends. I love coming here in the winter where I can lounge on the couches with my friends and have some drinks. Parking is not great. It’s in Dinkytown, so you’ll have to park a few blocks away and walk unless you take the bus. The service here is ok. Some people are friendlier than others. There is a stage and dance floor for live music and dancing. There is a small patio on the side of the bar. They have heat lamps on the fall and winter.

Awesome atmosphere, awesome staff, awesome activities(live music, pool, photo booth, pinball). Was a little disappointed in the lack of draft beer, but it was easily forgiven when I saw one of my faves(Rasputin Imperial Stout) in bottle form on the menu. If I lived in MN I would defo frequent this place.

Events, drinks, music. What don’t they have! It’s a great large venue that works well for shows, romantic rendezvous and more. The interior is always dimly lit but if you’re on a blind date it makes for a sweet getaway. There are couches that swallow you whole, hard backed wooden chairs and a whole lot of candle wax. Are we sure this is a music venue? Hmmm… Parking isn’t as accessible since it’s right by the UMN campus, but if you bus, carpool, or don’t care how much you pay you’ll be rollin into the club in no time. They have a coat rack downstairs by the bathrooms, don’t worry it’s not that close. And if you’re lucky you’ll find a couple making out on a Saturday night. Hopefully not on your coat… get a room people! The drinks and food are decent, I’ve tried the fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks and a(game changer) chicken Cesar salad. And y’all thought I was going to say another fried item didn’t you! Drinks could be made stronger but the lightweight in me says ‘now, now just wait a minute’. If you like to dance and don’t care who watches, this is the place for you.

I’ve been here several times and I love love it! Very cozy atmosphere(almost twin peaks-ey) and great music. Love the layout of everything, it’s really unique! You gotta be loud and pushy to get through to the tiny section of bar where you can order your drink if you’re not sitting at it though.(not a fault of kck, just a fault of the bro-ey male patrons)

Great atmosphere and ambience– beautiful and ornate. At night, they dim the lights and spark up some candles. wide and eclectic liquor and beer selection(unfortunately, no tap, but that’s okay because taps get dirty and are rarely cleaned anyway. Gross) Laura was my bartender and she is great… Warm, amicable, knowledge, and can whip up a mean Tom Collins. Generous happy hour, cushy seats, sprawling bar area, and friendly locals. Five stars without a doubt, and fuck anyone who says otherwise

I like the vibe of this place a lot. Dinkytown bars are really hit or miss, but this is one of the ones I actually like going to. It’s a venue/bar hybrid, usually with decent local music on the stage in the middle. The bartenders are really cool, even when you’re embarrassing yourself by spilling your drink in front of them(me). I like the colored lighting, and the mismatched furniture is right up my alley. There’s a pool table and a porch, which is cool too. My only complaint, which isn’t really their fault, is the amount of rude hipsters that frequent this place. My friend was mad last time that they don’t have any«normal beer»(everything she asked for they didn’t have, lol), and I feel like there are a lot of sarcastic, subversive assholes that come in here. She was made fun of several times for what she was wearing(black and white striped leggings, pretty tame by most standards), which is just plain rude, especially from a stranger! Obviously, like I said, management can’t really control the kind of people coming in here, but just be wary of it. Maybe bring a large group to shield you from the hipness.

This place was awesome. I absolutely loved the décor & the crowd. Definitely my style. I was here on a Saturday night and though it was packed we managed to find a table. The band that was playing was really good & worth the $ 5 cover at the door. I would give this place 5 stars if it wasn’t for the service at the bar. Very, very rude bartender. Other than that I highly recommend it.

I’ve only been here at night, but I really like the feel of it. It’s a fairly alternative crowd, and the inside definitely reflects it. The furniture is very hipster and the lighting is dim, with only colored lights inside. It’s a neat, surreal experience at night. From time to time, the KCK has live performers. From what I’ve seen, these performers are pretty no name, but have been fairly decent. Kitty Cat Klub definitely appears to select them in order to keep their atmosphere less mainstream. Prices are pretty standard for a non-downtown bar.

To cope with my upcoming defense, happy hours, wine at home, or eating out become my regular activities. I used to come to KCK quite a bit when i first moved here. My cohort, aka my sisters from other mothers, and I would either sneak a bottle of champagne and orange juice for some mimosas at our office, or come over here after our stats class. Two and half year later, I still enjoy the dim lighting, ample couches/seating. The drinks are decent and ok in price. Nothing too special. I love their basket of fries which i almost always get to share. The décor here is unique. On the wall they have huge paintings of cats, some antlers, and other things that I can not recall. Their bathroom is also a little odd with a roundabout fountain. I used to come here so frequently that the bartender knew me(sadly). He was also fast to get orders, and bring over food. There are new servers/bartenders now who aren’t shabby but took awhile to get my drink. Other than that, I love this place. They also have night events where bands play or Hipshaker, but i tend to avoid Dinkytown at night.(Don’t want to get caught up with all the undergrads). Thanks KCK for fueling my alcoholic needs, alleviating my post-exam stress, and providing a place for me and my friends to bond over. You will always have a special place in my heart when I leave here.

Cool place to go for happy hour if you work on campus or near Dinkytown but not worth the trek if you have to drive through student pedestrian traffic, people who are confused about University and 4th street being one ways, and finding a parking spot that is usually non existent outside. They serve food from Annie’s next door and we all know how I feel about Annie’s… Anyways, this place is much larger than it looks so there is plenty of space and lounging areas for big groups of people. Music is nice, atmosphere is chill, and I would recommend going to the bathroom with a buddy because it’s in the basement… kind of scary. possibly co-ed, so it might catch you off guard.

As an undergrad(and for a few years after graduating), I spent at least one Friday night per month dancing and drinking with friends, cooling off on the charmingly lit patio, lounging on one of the many couches and plush chairs scattered throughout, and admiring the unique bathrooms in the basement. The night that brought my friends and I to Kitty Cat month after month was referred to as «Twilight» which, though it coincided with a trashy vamp YA book series’ popularity, was actually a lesbian and queer dance night. Though the Twin Cities have lots of gay bars, lesbians are relegated to occasional«nights» that happen at various venues. While Twilight is now defunct, I still have plenty of fond memories! Even now that Twilight is over, KCK has brought us together for many other sweaty, fun nights(like Jonathan Ackerman’s always free, 21+ «HOTEL» dance night or various local band performances). Occasionally someone might order fries(limited food options come from Annie’s Parlour upstairs) but this place is in stumbling distance of other Dinkytown staples like Mesa Pizza so if you’re hungry, you’ve got options! If there’s no music(or you’re not feeling it), you can also find pinball, pool, and even a photobooth upstairs/off the patio. Just grab a drink at the bar on your way in and prepare to have a fun night.

I’m not sure how the Kitty Cat Klub got its name, but I don’t think the Internet’s collective infatuation with cats is to blame. Regardless, it has been a go to hangout in Dinkytown for a number of years, primarily due to it’s low-key, but still hip vibe and penchant for live music. The décor is certainly unique, as it looks like it was decorated by ransacking every antique store in town, but it works for the space. The footprint of the Klub itself takes up a number of adjacent rooms, offering some privacy, but not complete isolation. They often have local live music and I haven’t come across an unreasonable cover charge as of this writing. Service is from the bar only and they have a decent bottled beer list(full bar as well). They also serve grub from Annie’s upstairs, which I’ve never had, but it’s been a popular burger and shake joint around the U of M for quite some time — so you can has cheezburger. I hate myself a little bit for typing that.

Meow, Kitty Cat Klub! I like you. You’re the only cat I’m not allergic to… I’ve chilled at KCK a few times and always left happier(and tipsier). KCK occasionally brings the heat with some awesome DJs that play funk, soul, disco, and breaks on vinyl, even 45s!(Peep for schedule info.) It’s refreshing to see them kill it without using Serato or a Macbook Pro.(At least the times I’ve gone.) *Note: If you are reading this review and know of lounges or clubs where DJs often play straight vinyl and either one of the genres noted above, please message me! Last Saturday, I rolled with a crew to hear King Otto and Freddy Fresh spin. For only three bucks, I got to relax on a comfy sofa in one of the six to seven seating clusters in the back while chilling out to classics(like this: ) and admiring the funky lighting and random décor(odd paintings, exotic plants, deer head, etc…). I love the atmosphere and usually find myself having great convos with good friends. The pool table is a nice addition, too. Unlike other clubs where the bathrooms are absolutely horrid, KCK has three decent ones downstairs. They’ve always been clean when I’ve visited, although the bathroom stalls do not reach the ceiling. Thus, privacy could be an issue for some folks. But after three or four drinks, who cares?(Probably a lot, actually.) The round communal sink is reminiscent of one from middle school and is a great ice-breaker for talking to that cute person you happen to meet down there. «Can I use some of your soap, please? My dispenser ran out. BTW, what’s your name?» Regarding the bartenders, unlike some other Unilocalers, I’ve never had a problem. Drinks? Hmm, I thought KCK priced them about the same as other bars in Dinkytown. However, I give KCK two major dings: 1) the drinks need to be stronger(since the hipsters that regularly frequent the joint love to two-step, all night, off beat and need to be a bit more inebriated to feel the music) and 2) Despite the intimate dance floor, it’s not a great place to get down. The Kitty Cat Klub may not be purrrrrr-fect(see what I did there?), but I dig it. I’ll probably return in the future to vibe out with some homies.

The interesting décor, the multitude of entertainment options, and the music makes the KCK one of my favorite places to hang out on a weeknight. Admittedly, most nights I have to fight the allure of the many comfortable sofas and chairs that offer a place for an inappropriate snooze, but the music(either dj or live) helps counteract the sofa seduction. The drinks are reasonably priced and there is both a pool table AND an old-school photo booth. As someone who graduated a… few(ahem) years ago, the plenitude of undergraduates sometimes turns me away from the Klub, but not if the music is pumping, as it often does.

Now first of all, I did not pick this place. I met a couple of buddies here. Hipster paradise. We laughed a lot, but overall, I have been in a hundred better bars. No TVs The bartender could care less if we we were there or not, but they had good $ 3 Summits, so not too bad. The place started to fill up on the Thursday that we were there. Basically a hipster college bar. I felt really old, so they did their job. I left way too good of a tip.
