Ok, first off– the least gross crowd of the gay bars in Mpls. BUT, my boyfriend and I came here two Saturday nights in a row, visiting from NYC, and did not hear ONE song less than 20 years old… Tonight was apparently ‘Janet Jackson’ night, and no there was no playing her new song«No Sleep” — just her very tired oldies… Nasty. What have you done for me lately. REALLY??? Pathetic DJ. There is so f’n much new great music and this place cranks out 80’s party mixtape, and pays someone(the DJ) to insult all the people trying to look like they can dance to this regurgitated blech. Really pissed me off. Thanks for letting me vent. Good night.

While in town visiting friends I went to this establishment. Was having a great time, cool atmosphere, great music mix, but then there was the drink! Yes, one drink. I saw a lull at the bar and so ordered a margarita, rox, extra salt. The bartender fixed my cocktail, rang up the drink for $ 8 on the computer screen, turned to me and said $ 12 … I gave him a 20 thinking I had misheard. He returned $ 8. Overpriced or a lying bartender … I don’t know, but I won’t be back!

Great drinks. Great scene. Great music. I just wish they could sling drinks a little faster…

Jetset is, in my opinion, the best gay bar in Minneapolis. It’s chic, has a good seating-to-dance-floor ratio(imagine if Goldilocks went gay bar hopping: Saloon is too big, Gay 90’s is too commercial, and Jetset is just right), and the people seem to actually be there to have fun and talk. But oh my god, are the drinks overpriced. If you’re going to charge me $ 9 for a gin and tonic, make that shit Tanqueray(with a side of Idris Elba, please). If I’m going to pay double for booze, I’d like it to taste better than college-budget gin, but alas, beggars can’t be choosers, and they are pretty strong. Jetset has a good range of people from recent graduates to people in their 40’s, making conversation anything but monotone. I went here with my friend David, and we met such a wide range of people. It’s the type of place where you can stay for the entire night, and it gives off a good vibe for dancing. My only complaint(because complaining about drink prices is not so much a complaint for change, but a complaint to complain) would be the DJs. They don’t let you request songs, and if I’m going out without any possibility of getting hit on(as I’m straight, and I didn’t see many non-straight women there), I want Beyoncé to be blaring at least twice throughout the night. No matter your sexual orientation, Jetset is a blast. Before you hit up the classics like 90’s or Saloon, take this place for a test run first.

An LA/NYC style bar in Minneapolis. A trendier place, it’s a place«to see and be seen» for the local crowd. While drinks are a bit more expensive(compared to other local bars), they’re good. Music/DJ is always good too.

This is the best gay bar I’ve ever been to, not even just in Minneapolis. It’s not over the top like most gay bars, in fact you wouldn’t even know its a gay bar until you notice all of the handsome patrons. It attracts a classy and normal(usually) crowd. It’s just a great place to have drinks and dance to great music. The D.J.‘s are fun. Drinks are pretty expensive so get drunk at Lush or the Saloon first.

There’s no illuminated lights to signal Jetset’s presence. If you don’t have GPS, you’ll easily miss it. It’s defining character is its minimalistic architecture and interior. On Thursday evening, it’s very very quiet. My gay friend and I were the only people there besides the bartenders. The bartender sympathetically mentioned that it only gets lively on the weekends past 10PM. My gay friend, who is several years younger, was very disappointed by the library-esque atmosphere, but, personally, I loved it! I’m old, can’t help it. I didn’t love the drinks much though. Although the bartenders were super sweet, the cocktails were not strong and cost a fortune. Pre-game somewhere else if you plan on coming by here. It’ll be interesting to drop by here again on an active night. Seems like it would be fun.

Jetset Bar is unlike any other gay bar in the Twin Cities. It’s clean, modern and always filled with a great music selection from top-notch DJs. Unlike all the other gay bars in the Twin Cities, Jetset sets itself apart with it’s modern, minimalistic style. The actual bar is located in the back of the house and is staffed with approachable bartenders who are making long-poured cocktails and serving up a nice selection of bottled beers. While drinks can be on a bit pricier side, your ears are filled with upbeat, well timed music from excellent DJs who are in-tune with the latest mixes. They take credit cards, but it’s usually a pain, so bring your cash! This is a bar to come to with your friends. As typical with most gay bars in MN most people here come in groups so don’t expect a ton of mingling to happen. The outdoor patio space is a welcome addition during the spring/summer/fall months to relax in the evening air. Expect a fair amount of people to be on the patio to smoke. This pre-bar is busiest on Fridays-Saturday from about 10pm — Midnight. Most people start heading on over to the Saloon as the clock strikes twelve.

I love the gays and frequent the haunts in WeHo a lot so I didn’t know what to expect from the MN gay scene. 4 heteros including myself accompanied our gay friend John to this bar after dinner at Bar La Grassa and drinks at Marvel Bar. It was the perfect sloppy end to the night. I trotted about town in my heels and proceeded to down about 10 vodka drinks and dance like everyone was watching but I did not care. The place is small definitely not a several floor operation. The dance floor gets packed. The bartenders are quick and most were friendly. I vaguely remember asking one if he was gay(usually they are straight men to entice the customers even more) but who knows if I actually did because I browned out not long after. I left my leather jacket and pashmina on the self serve coat check and was shocked that people in Minneapolis are honest. Maybe I don’t trust anyone but I figured it would be stolen or at least knocked on the ground. There was no line when we arrived and no cover. The dj said he accepted requests but never played my song. Boo. I don’t care because he played some Gaga and other FH friendly dance floor classics. I would go back next time I am in Minny. According to my gay friend that bar is where a lot of ‘pretty gays’ go. My tab was $ 46 with tip $ 56. Can’t remember how many drinks but I feel like it was not too pricey per person.

It’s a fancy gay bar: nothing more, nothing less. It’s OK, but no way I’d be a regular here plunking down $ 10+ per drink, although my Manhattan appeared to be ¾ whiskey from watching the longest pour I’ve seen in a long time and yet didn’t taste like almost straight whiskey, so you’re bound to get a well-made drink. I guess you’d have to have enough self control to spread one drink out to make the prices lighter on your wallet and try to convince yourself it’s two drinks for the price of one. The interior is quite nice: reminds me of the now defunct Bristol Bar in Columbus , which got extra bonus points for ambiance by being a swanky joint a little out of the way on the edge of the hood. The music selection surprisingly didn’t make me want to take a screwdriver to my ear drums: no Lady Gaga and the usual suspects attacking good taste in music. If you like the overall feel of the place then you might be won over to at least make an occasional visit back, regardless of orientation. For me, as compelling as it was, I wasn’t quite won over to bump it up an extra star. Still worth visiting at least once, though.

I love this place for so many reasons. Shall I list them out? Sure! yells the always-eager, always-assenting crowd I’ve created in my head: 1) The location — it’s not in the lovely train wreck/cluster that is 1st Ave., but it’s also close enough that you can hop there if you choose to do so. Parking’s easier to come by, too. 2) The cover — coz there is none. 3) The ambiance — it’s hip without trying too hard; good lighting and fun/odd videos screening on the walls. 4) The drinks — OK, so you could get a little squeezed trying to get a drink in the bar(I thought it rather odd that they would have this huge column close to the bar, but anyways…). But, the drinks are so good; pricey, but strong and made well. 5) The dance floor — it is a smaller space, but you can still get your group in there, whole-assing it(as Ron Swanson would say) and dancing the night away. There’s few seats and no real space for a group to sit down, so you better get up and move, boy. 6) The music — Great mix of everything, really strong bass lines that shake the whole place up and make you just wanna whip your hair. Most memorable time though was when, in the middle of this huge dance anthem, the DJ breaks into Celine Dion’s «It’s All Coming Back»…I swear, everyone singing — nay, belting — «BABY, BABY, BABY» was pure bliss. Then we went back to dancing.

I was not really impressed with this bar. They are just lucky I gave them two stars instead of one. First of all, the drinks are way too expensive. After four drinks, I nearly paid $ 35. I could have just had went home after my dinner party and had two 12 packs of beer to enjoy from. Second, they displayed cartoons on the walls. It looked like He-man or something to that effect of that cartoon — if you looked closely while they were displaying the cartoon, they showed a black and white version of a soft nude men video. Jetset, you would had been given two more stars if you would had left the«He-man» videos off the walls! Quite gross if you think about it. Third, it is too dark in the bar. Too small to dance in, and also, the people in there overall, were stuck up. No one said hi, and if I approached just to see what was happening, the crowd or group would just ignore me or walk away — even two people who were sitting at the table would just walk away — it was not a fun experience to be ignored, and especially feeling like Jetset’s general clientelle was ignorant and plain rude. People, this isn’t New York here — don’t let this bar fool you. This isn’t what you will see in New York, so get that out of your heads. Never, will I come back to this bar. Bartenders were nice, but you can find that anywhere.

So far on my «Tour de la Gaybar» I have found this to be the most hygenic of all! Could it be because they actually sanitize the floors here? Could it be the ultra-class of the upper tier of gay society in Minneapolis? Or is it just because most of the homo’s in my age bracket can’t afford to drink here like they can at Saloon MPLS? I’m thinking it’s a mixture of all of the above. No going to lie, this is a little on the expensive side for me usually… It’s not that I can’t afford it, I just don’t want to pay for it. Maybe if I had a sugar daddy that would buy me pretty things, like a new Jag, all the Burberry clothing I could wear, and a pair of Dolce glasses(mixed in with a $ 200 haircut) would I fit in… but I am typically not that chic. I like to wear regular clothes(like jeans without giant designs on my ass), and drive a mid-2000’s Korean built car… I’m not«cool» enough to frequent here. Not going to lie… typically it is a little pretentious here, but if you can get beyond that, and you can get beyond the pricing. This bar really is a blast. The décor is reminiscent of European stylings, the music is mindful of current tastes, as well as local favorites, and even though there is an air of pretention the people are usually quite friendly once you have actually purchased a martini. All in all a fun place to drink, an even more fun place to people watch. For all you gays out there looking for a new man? I wouldn’t bother with this place though, I’ve noticed this place is filled with more couples lately.

I love jetset! The décor is so chic/minimalist and the clientele are so gorgeous that I feel instantly lame when I walk in. Not Jetset’s fault, of course. The drinks here are very strong… if you’re like me, two drinks will be strong enough to summon up your courage for karaōke(if it’s playing that night) Speaking of the karaōke, the selection is amazing. They have a lot of older hits from the 60’s and 70’s(which I love.) This isn’t the place, however, for a sloppy rendition of ‘Don’t stop believing.’ The karaōke performances I’ve seen here are almost like Broadway auditions. I saw a rendition of ‘Take me or leave me’ that would impress Idina Menzel. Only downside is that the drinks are pretty pricey… around $ 8.50 for a rail drink. But, the atmosphere is really fun and they don’t charge a cover, which I always love. If you’re looking for a gay bar downtown, but don’t want the loud craziness of the Saloon or 90’s, this place is perfect!

Yes it’s a gay bar. If being surrounded by incredibly well dressed and well groomed men wasn’t the first clue. Seriously, why can’t straight men learn to take care of themselves like that? Anyway it’s a cool place. Great mix of music including the latest Rihanna hits and your favorite guilty pleasures from the 90s. The video screens were playing(silent) Madonna videos. It’s very dark, but all together feels hip while somehow being unpretentious. True to the other reviews, yes the drinks are strong! Vodka flavored vodka anyone?

I was impressed by this bar. When our taxi dropped us off, I loved the transparency of the façade. It felt like I just arrived in NYC. It was extremely crowded in the bar though. Technically, there is a tiny dancefloor but you cannot really dance in there. Anyhow, I think this place would be nicer if it were bigger. I love the minimalist modern décor. The crowd was nice. It is definitely a place to be seen. Just make sure to bring lots of money to this place because you will pay a premium for drinks.

I like Jetset. Yes, indeedy. The good: –It’s small, but they aren’t wasting any space. You’re either dancing, standing at the bar or sitting in one of the loungy seating areas. –The bartenders are great(and, for all intents and purposes… not that big on shirts) –The music is usually awesome, and the DJs I’ve come across there haven’t been too cool for any of my weird requests either. –The videos they project on the walls are so weird. I can’t even describe. –Boy or girl, you’re likely to get hit on by someone attractive and well-dressed. Val B. and I were approached by this guy earlier this month and asked if we liked B’s or G’s. Either way, he had friends that wanted to ask us both out. Unfortch for his friends, we both have boyfriends… but otherwise, sexually ambiguous flattery will get you everywhere! The slightly not-as-good: –It’s pricey. I know it’s a sweet club and they don’t have a cover, but c’mon Jetset. My Jamesons were $ 8 or $ 9 dollars. –You’d think taking a break on the sidewalk patio will be refreshing after dancing it up and getting sweaty, but it’s not pleasant out there because it’s always shrouded in smoke. I wish they would make it all non-smoking or have some kind of rule about smoking so close to the door(I think a few places do that). Maybe it wouldn’t jive with their regular clientele though. Other than those two things, I really love this bar and I always wonder why there aren’t more smaller lounges like this in town.

Okay so maybe I haven’t been to Jetset for almost a year, but a good time is hard to forget. This is a smaller bar as far as «clubs» go, but there’s still plenty of room for dancing. I also appreciate the minimal seating options for this very same reason – if people can’t sit, they get dancing! If you’re looking for a night out with your girls(boys) and want a more intimate setting, Jetset’s for you. If you want to dance to this: Jetset is also for you.

Probably my favorite bar in Minneapolis. The drinks might be a little expensive but at least they have a decent amount of alcohol in it, differently than a lot of other places in the twin cities. Music is a fun mix of commercial and revival which is really fun to dance. Décor is minimal and reminds me of European lounge bars. Crowd is mostly guys, better dressed and better looking than in sports bar around the cities and not very likely to hit on me. My BF always thinks guys here are looking at me, most of the times I think he is the one being coveted…
