Ideal House Services

This is about the most confounding experience I’ve had with a business. I was looking for someone to clean my gutters as my house design makes it rather dangerous to DIY without renting equipment. With all the rain we’ve had, I just wanted to get it done soon and I was a bit leery of going through CL. I came across Wind O’ Washin’ on trusty Unilocal and contacted them.
No quote/​estimate for gutter cleaning which is understandable but also requires a leap of faith that it’s going to be a couple hours, not a couple days. Luckily that wasn’t a problem and some far simpler items were.
I wasn’t working from home that day and I wish I was. I returned and immediately began to find issues.
–Gutter debris piled around the driveway.
–Gutter debris piled on the sidewalk around my side door.
–Gutter debris piled up on the plants lining the house.
–Gutter debris seemingly flung all over my backyard in small clumps.
–Large stoppage of gutter debris in the downspout of the garage that I cleared out.
–Gate in back of garage had been haphazardly put back.
–My garden hose had obviously been used — though I wondered where/​why as it certainly wasn’t cleaned up.
And I don’t mean just a little bit. There were piles. When I pay for a service, I expect things to be left in equal or better condition when done. This was not done.
Then things got weird.
After cleaning things up and thinking about it for a few days, I emailed the above list to them. I get a quick response back from Treasa that she would look into it. Steve emails me at 6:23pm that he would like to speak with me. He then calls me and leaves a message a few minutes later. He calls again a couple hours later with another message and sends an email at 8:07pm that just states «You are done.»
Ok.
Yeah. I’m done. Because I finished the job. And you know what? I was out to dinner that night, so contacting me 4 times in a row is a little much and I would have happily been in contact the next day.
That was that. No acknowledgement. No apology. No discount.

Professional, outstanding service! Very thorough and friendly. Made sure I was happy with every aspect of the job. I have had other companies do my windows in the past and Steven’s job outperformed all the others! Great value! Screens, inside and outside cleaned for the year yay!

It’s too bad Steve didn’t take Before and After photos of my windows. I wish I had taken photos myself; the transformation is amazing, breathtaking, unbelievable.
He and Jim completed a very challenging job at my house yesterday. I have a 100+ year-​old Craftsman bungalow whose windows have seen better days (this is an understatement). Steve and Jim patiently and thoroughly worked with broken sash cords, sticky window tracks, and goodness knows what else with professionalism and good humor, and now I don’t want to get out of bed because the view out of my bedroom windows is lovely and clear for the first time since I moved into the house.
Steve is quite the self-​starter, entrepreneur Jack of all trades, and it is obvious that he takes great pride in his work. He is extremely personable and has a vast amount of window washing knowledge and experience.
Like the previous reviewer, I have no personal connection to either Steve or his business. I read the other reviews on Unilocal,called him, he responded promptly and gave me a quote (which he honored) the same day, and I immediately decided that I would prefer to support his business over an impersonal franchise. I am ever so glad I did.
I can tell you that if you are looking to brighten your home, other than painting getting your windows cleaned is the best thing you can do for it. And I can assure you that if you choose Wind o’ Washin’ for the job, you will NOT be disappointed.

Steven and Jim did an absolutely PHENOMENAL job. It was 10 degrees outside, and they spent a full day cleaning every tiny speck of junk out of our gutters, and getting all the caked-​on dirt off our windows and sills. I never knew how clean they could be! I seriously thought our big bedroom window was open, when in fact, it was closed and crystal-​clean. Amazing!!!
The quote they gave me was only for a half-​day work, but they never once asked for more money — they just said that it’s their work ethic to get the job done right. And they sure did! Wow — so impressed with the work, and the fact they could do it in such horrible conditions is even that much MORE mind-​blowing!
Please hire this company — I didn’t know them before, so I have no ties to them at all except that they were the most professional and thorough workers I’ve ever met.

Steve Brick gave me a fair estimate and that was the final price. He did a fine job on all the windows, even a couple that a previous window washer said he couldn’t get at.
Steve included an extra:– gutter cleaning — because he was standing by the gutters to wash a window and saw the need. He didn’t charge for the favor.
I’ll use him again and recommend him to others.

To say that Steven exceeded our expectations would be a huge understatement! Wind O’ Washin’ is a hidden gem in the Twin Cities, and Steven has turned window cleaning into an art form!
I am a persnickety consumer with pretty picky expectations, and I can say without reservation that Steven’s attention to detail and level of professionalism is truly one-​in-​a-​million. Our house had 17 YEARS of grime built up on its 100+ year old windows, and they are now crystal clear and streak-​free. Steven handled our funky-​old-​home windows with great care, and knew exactly how to deal with the complicated mechanisms and peculiarities of antique windows. He even rinsed our old doors and about 12 extra windows without our asking, and for no extra charge!
If you want the job done right, your home service provider to show up on-​time with a professional appearance, and service pricing on-​budget, look no further. I am a tough customer to please — and I cannot recommend Steven and Wind O’ Washin’ highly enough. Simply astounding!

Pressured for time and lazy to boot, I went to Unilocal to see if there are any window cleaning services reviewed. Wind O’Washin was first on the list and based on the review I read I checked the web site (lots of good information there, btw, including prices), sent an email on Sunday evening and Steven and his associates were here at 9:15 this morning. Holy guacamole! My windows did not look this good when they were NEW! Steven, Francine, and Gemma are *excellent* at what they do. I love when small business owners take pride in their work. I will recommend them to any and all without any reservations about doing so. Bless you, Steven – you took a big load from my shoulders. Wow! Wow! Wow!
