Since all the reviews are fairly old I’d like to provide a more recent one. We’ve actually been going for years because of convenience. But I just don’t think I can continue. First of all I know more than most of the people who are working there. Second, my least favor thing is how unwelcoming and unneighborly the store is. They assume you are going to steal. They are at the security screens in the middle of the store more than they are helping people. This happens all the time. No other hardware store in south mpls is set up that way. They also check to make sure the $ 5 dollar bills aren’t counterfeit. So weird. It creates anxiety every time I go there. I’ve heard multiple complaints from friends on their customer service. Dare I say its infamous for it.

This store is a little out of my way but there are certain items I like to buy at a family run hardware store. Hudson’s may seem more expensive than the big boxes and they are for certain items but they often stock products of higher quality. For instance I purchased a reel mower here because the quality of the product was far better than what I see at a big boxes and I didn’t have to put it together. They also will do blade sharpening. Service is a big point at Hudson’s. Batteries-I’ll use the big box, much cheaper. Laundry tub lint filters far better at Hudson’s, more expensive but they last much longer than what I could find elsewhere. It’s these little things that matter. Friendly family service is also important as they will walk you right to the shelve and show you what you are looking for. The store is neatly organized and seems a popular place in the neighborhood where they seem to know many people by name when they walk in.

A lovely local hardware store that holds up the high standards of other ACE hardware stores I’ve visited. I’m often the only customer in the store, but the staff is always very friendly, greeting you and offering to help with anything in the world. They will take the time to stand with you the entire time you’re there if you need some help picking out your hardware or aren’t sure what you need to complete a big job. They also have two very friendly, unobtrusive cats who wander the main aisle. The prices are, as would be expected, a little higher than at a big-box hardware store. For me, it is worth the trade-off to drive only a few blocks instead of miles and to receive such helpful, personalized attention every time I visit.

Very helpful neighborhood store with friendly people willing to help you out. It’s great to be able to walk over here instead of driving to a big-box hardware store, and while you may pay slightly more, if you’re buying something sturdy it will last for years. This place has come in handy more than a few times.

This place is great! My husband and I stopped by to grab something small, and were greeted with super friendly and accommodating service. It was a very small town family-feel kind of store. I loved the find in the middle of our sometimes anonymous city. While we looked, the mother hung around about an aisle away. For a moment I figured she thought I was some punk kid looking to grab a five finger discount on some Gorilla Glue, but she kind of sheepishly commented to let her know if we needed anything and she didn’t want to be a bad hardware hostess. Adorable! After we picked out our tiny can of wood filler, we were brought to the counter by their tween son, who was surprisingly professional. It took a lot for me to not let out an «awwww» while we checked out as he studied my husbands signature on his card to make sure it matched the receipt. The only reason I gave them 4 stars was that their prices, as expected, are a little on the high side. I loved the atmosphere, but if I am in need of an expensive item I don’t know if I’d be willing to shell out an extra 20% for the exact same item available a mile away at the lower price. However, we will definitely be back!

Fantastic local hardware store. Sure its nice to wander the aisles of Home Depot and get caught up in the buzz of everything there but there is something great about the neighborhood hardware store I hope never goes away. We walked in and were greeted by pretty much everyone in the store which was nice. Then we were guided straight to the section we were looking for and got what we needed along with a little advice on how to use it properly. Also know they have a very nice friendly cat inside in case you have allergies.
