Has a lot of things you want, like a driving range, chipping green, and a golf course. Not the prettiest course, and they don’t try to be. Friendly folks. Reasonable prices.

I’m an avid golfer and play at least 20 rounds/summer. Even though this course is close to my home, I’ve only played it a few times. I’ve been visiting more often for the putting green and driving range(a few times a month), but I intend to play here more based on my last experience. There’s no reservations required on weekdays — first-come, first-served(they accept reservations for the weekends). I showed up at 6pm last Friday, went off the back nine as a single, and finished 18 holes in under three hours walking with no waiting on any hole. The course is walkable, the layout is fair, and the conditions(greens/fairways/rough) are all good. If you ever feel the spontaneous need to get in a twilight round in the western suburbs, I recommend Hollydale. If there’s any negative to be found, the course doesn’t have an online teetime service. No biggie — just call the course and talk to a fellow human being. By the way, I’ve had no issues with the staff when I’ve been there or called. The young women and men handling business have been friendly enough, and they are also clever enough to let me start on the back nine when there’s even just a minor wait on the first tee.

The staff here is very snobby. I used to go here as a kid with my family and we would all have a great time. Now, the people who work there, think they are running a country club. Had a tee time on a Sunday and showed up with my 3 brothers, dad, and 2 year old son. Since the course wasn’t that busy, we didn’t think it would be a big deal to have a group like this. After talking with the young man in the pro shop, they let us on to the course and it was a bad experience from there. The ranger and cart lady basically followed us on every hole and gave us some serious lip service on a couple of holes. Granted, we had a big group and a child with us, but we were given the okay in the club house. We have done this sort of thing on 3 other courses this year and had a really great experience. The owner of this place needs to tell his staff to chill out and remind them that they work at a cheap golf course, not a country club.
