Although I usually go to this Holiday gas station to fill up my car’s tank, I try to avoid the store. I don’t feel convenient in their convenience store! I try hard to avoid setting foot in the store, not only because the prices are high(what else could I expect from a gas station store?), but also because the staff are rude to certain groups of customers. If someone looks poor or drunk, they treat them very impolitely. For example, recently a man looking drunk was ahead of me in the queue. After he paid with his card, he waited for his receipt for a few seconds without saying anything. He simply expected that the cashier would give him the receipt of the transaction. Although the cashier knew what he’s waiting for, he aggressively asked: are you waiting for your receipt? And as soon as the customer said yes, the cashier responded if you want it, you must ask for it. You could say can I get my receipt? I don’t give receipts unless people ask for them. The customer politely said: but everywhere else cashiers ask if customers want their receipts. And the cashier responded: it’s different here. If you’re unhappy with the way it is, take your business somewhere else. It was not the only time I saw something similar in here and it wasn’t only involving drunk people. One time, the mistreated person, as far as I noticed, was simply poor, not drunk. I can understand that they want to make their business unwelcoming to people who make trouble; and I can understand that they maybe had bad experience in the past with some certain customers. But I don’t think it justifies the generalization and the way they treat people who don’t make any trouble.
