I get sent on an errand here about 2 or three times a year. It is the place to drop off your hazardous chemicals, halogen lights, refrigerators, etc. I drove down to Bloomington with a bunch of stuff like paint cans, and halogen lights, to drop off and you wait about 5 minutes to show your license. You tell them what you have and drive into the hangar. They do charge for items like refrigerators and the like, so call or check the website to see what they take and do not take. The team members greet you and are super friendly. You drop off your stuff and drive on out. Easy-peasey. Great experience!

There are some things that should never, ever go out with the trash. Think old TV’s, air conditioners, items with batteries, old paint, household chemicals. Those things need special care and for the times between when the city has a hazardous waste drop off day there is the county collection site. Some items do come with a fee to get rid of them because of the chemicals they contain(think air conditioners with their freon). But many things they will take for free. Be prepared to take some time to find the place as it is not on any main street and have your drivers license handy to show the attendant. Once there there is no lifting required on your part, the friendly crew will take the stuff away and make sure it is disposed of properly or reused if possible. Well done Hennepin Co.
