I have been getting my hair relaxed for a while now, and I wouldn’t trust anyone but Heather to do it. She is absolutely amazing! I’m bi-​racial (black & white) and have really curly, kinky hair. After the relaxer my hair is so much more manageable but I never lose all my curl, which I love! It’s never painful either, and I definitely don’t have scalp burns afterwards. I would recommend Heather to anyone thinking about starting out, or looking for someone amazing to continue with. She has helped me get my hair to a wonderfully healthy place! Also, she’s just a awesome person in general!

I had a very serious situation with my hair. It was in bad shape from previous processing and color. Even though I’d always had my hair done professionally, and with professional products, it was still in a very bad state when I first came to Haus, and they had a challenge.
I told them I had a very, very important event at the end of the month that I needed to look my best for. They took care of me, above and beyond what I could have expected. My hair was a nightmare after the first process was done, but Sam at North Loop made it beautiful. This means so much, because that event is my mother’s funeral. It probably didn’t seem like it in the chair yesterday, but I was barely holding it together. Sam was wonderful at distracting me, being pleasant and fun and positive, and that’s exactly what I needed. This was a wonderful, beautiful experience. I rebooked my next service with her after.
I highly, highly suggest you visit their salons for your services. My color is perfect. The way the customer is treated here is amazing.

I recently moved to the area and finding a new colorist was clearly of upmost importance. I did my homework on Unilocal and checked out different salon websites. What I really liked about Haus was that they had a nice bio on each of their staff and a link to their Instagram account where you take a peek of their work. I instantly felt connected to Lauren in some odd way and booked an appointment with her. The salon called me a few days before and asked if I could come in 15 minutes earlier than my schedule time since I was a new client and this would ensure time for consultation. I liked that. I was immediately greeted warmly by the front desk staff and was checked in in no time. Lauren got me right away and we started talking about what I’ve had done in the past and what I wanted today. She looked at my Pinterest board on my phone to see the inspiration I was going for. (I wanted to brighten my blonde, take the gold tones out, and wanted purple tips. Ya know, no big deal) She gave me her recommendation on how we could best achieve this look and talked me through the entire process. She was so nice, calming, and I trusted her with my locks from the get go. Sean, the salon’s apprentice shampooed me and was such a sweetheart! Other staff I interacted with were very nice as well. A lot of times at upscale salons I have experienced snootiness, but not here. My hair turned out fabulous and I loved the entire process. I can’t wait to come back and get some more pampering in!

What a great experience to end 2015!
It was late Wednesday afternoon and I was in desperate need of a haircut and a little pampering before the long weekend.
I checked on the reviews, thanks Unilocalers, and remembered how many times I’ve walked by their big loft style windows and decided to check them out.
Booking my appointment online was a breeze. I got a call a couple of hours later asking if I wouldn’t mind coming in early, as I’m a new client and my stylist wanted to make sure we had ample time.
Anna was warm, knowledgeable and professional. She gave a killer head massage and talked me through every stage of the appointment. I knew exactly what and why I was getting the amazing cut that I got.
They had an assortment of tea, water, Spyhouse coffee and I saw plenty a patron with wine and beer.
I love my cut and the experience. I promptly booked my next appointment with their friendly receptionist. The cut wasn’t cheap, but I firmly believe you get what you pay for.
*Tip: They have a great map on their website in regards to different areas to park and the different price points. The online appointment scheduler was a breeze to use too.

Emily Roberts Holden hands-​down give THE BEST men’s haircut I’ve ever had! Yeah, I know it’s «just a men’s cut» — that standard fade and whatnot — but I’ve been to a lot of different stylists, barbers etc. over the years and more often than not I’m not truly satisfied and I’m not sure what it is or why, and then it grows out kind of weird. And they all say I’ve got «good hair» ha!
Emily just really takes the time to, first, ask and listen to the kind of haircut you want (or if you don’t know, make great suggestions and explain the reasoning/​process), and then to give the attention to the actual hair cut (always trying to get the best lighting, knowing how your hair grows, head shape, etc.). Plus, she’s really easy-​going and even sort of funny! :)
And then there’s HAUS Salon in the North Loop: Great front desk service (always feel welcome the moment you walk in) and helpful staff, an amazing, modern, clean, well-​lit environment, etc. You can tell the owners are conscientious, treat their employees well, and have a great sense of style.
All in all I couldn’t recommend Emily and HAUS any more highly. If there were ten stars to give, they’d deserve it!

Heather is an amazing colorist. My hair has never looked better. Im a medium brown naturally and she has me blonde while still looking very healthy. Im able to keep my hair long and in great condition. I will never go to anyone else. Love her!

Tricia is AMAZING! I’ve had my eyebrows done at multiple places, but now she’s the only one I’ll go to. Plus I had never had a facial before and she took such good care of me! She is incredibly professional, competent, and personable … she will instantly make you feel like a friend and make you comfortable the entire experience. I highly, HIGHLY recommend Tricia for all of your skin and waxing needs!

My beloved nail person retired in August, and after being with her for 4 years, I was at a loss for who to see. I decided to give Haus Salon (North Loop location) a try.
I have to say that there was nothing bad about my experience — the front desk staff was polite and offered me water, coffee, tea, and other beverages. The waiting area was fine. The space is very open and industrial/​modern. Jan is their nail tech, and she was prompt in taking me back for my appointment.
Technically, there was nothing wrong with Jan’s work. I liked how she shaped my nails — though when I did ask for them to be rounded (I have found that when squared off, that corner tends to get chipped), she noted that the shape of my nail bed says they «should» be squared off. I found that odd and a little passive aggressive (if I explain how I want my nails done and a reason for why, I don’t see a need for the comment, but okay). The rest of the service was nice. She wasn’t overly talkative.
I have been getting soak-​off gels on my nails for 4 years — rotating between OPI soak-​off gel and Harmony Gelish. I like both products. I decided to get gels again. Unfortunately, Haus Salon only has CND Shellac. And they cure with a UV (not an LED light). I decided to give it a try.
My main issue is with the quality of the CND Shellac. The application is thin, and Jan cured each coat for 2 minutes under UV light. Now, I am not a nail tech, but given that I’ve had my nails done (acrylics, gels, biosculpture, you name it, I’ve done it or looked into it), for 12 years, I do know a bit about it. And there really isn’t a reason to cure for 2 minutes between each coat (I also checked with my previous nail people to see if I was wrong, and they agreed with me). Now if the cure was 30 – 45 seconds, I would be okay with that amount of UV exposure, but 6 minutes of direct UV exposure for each hand just doesn’t sound right to me (or healthy if you are doing this over time). When I left, the nails looked good.
When checking out, the front desk person was nice and did ask if I’d like to book my next appointment, which I appreciated.
About 4 days later, two nails began lifting at the tips. Now, I will admit if I have been picking at things with my nails or was cutting vegetables and sliced into the gel, but I was being particularly cautious with my nails given it was a product I had on my hands for the first time. After a week, several more nails lifted at the sides. I ended up scraping off all of the gels (bad, I know), with my own nail and some acetone. The fact that I could do it so easily with a less than 15 minute soak off just indicated to me that the product is not durable. There was no way that would have lasted the advertised 14 days.
Maybe it was because I am still looking for an experience akin to my previous nail place and am nitpicking, but I didn’t even want to go back to have Jan redo them, as she would just use the same product, and the same thing would probably happen. The price for her gel nails is also $ 5 more than my old nail place (located in the same neighborhood). I did not feel like anything in the product and service merited a $ 5 increase. It was similar to, but I would have priced it closer to $ 45 given that the CND Shellac is an inferior product to OPI and Gelish.
Jan was nice. The staff was nice. It was just that the whole experience did not live up to what I was used to at my previous place. This may sound crazy, but I was looking to find a new place where the staff is eager to get you in as a recurring client and is warm. I felt the people at Haus Salon were nice but not warm.
I realize that I am being extremely picky. I tried another high end salon for their gel nails, and it just wasn’t the same as my previous experience. So I’m sure people who are not as picky as me would find this experience to be good. If Haus Salon were to switch their product, I might come back.
Note about parking: I live less than a mile away and opted to walk, as driving a mile seemed a little silly. It’s a good thing I did — parking is pretty impossible around that area. The meters fill up quickly (and rarely does anyone move their car on Washington). There is a pay lot across the street, but that is about $ 5 minimum (if it’s not a Twins’ game day). Whether it’s worth it to drive around for 10 minutes looking for parking or to pay $ 5 for parking for your nail appointment is up to you. If you can, I’d suggest parking closer to 4^th and 5^th Avenues and walking.

First time to Haus — CLEAN and professional and nice. But why I’m writing this review is because I had the best massage I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve had many massages but this one was worthy enough to write a review about. I booked an appointment with Catherine Lleras and I couldn’t of asked for a more wonderful experience. She used essential oils and hot stones along with intuitive massage that made me moan into the headrest. I’ve had hot stones used on me before but never like this… You can tell that Catherine has been doing this for a long time, and that she takes techniques and makes them her own to fit your specific needs and she isn’t just doing what she learned from school. Halfway through my massage I realized that this was the first massage I’ve had where it wasn’t too light to too hard — just perfect. She was reading my body responses and giving me the pressure I required. I could tell she was also doing energy work. It was simply perfect. I slipped on the ice last winter and hurt my sciatic nerve. it’s never felt ‘right’ and is always sort of pinching but today (one day later) I can’t feel it at all. I’ll definitely be back to Haus and under Catherine’s hands — this massage was worth every penny. My only suggestion is this — don’t book ‘work’ afterwards because you’ll feel too good to want to do anything that will rob you from this bliss.

Had a fabulous experience getting an updo done with a bridal party. Staff is friendly, space is bright and open, and my hair was fantastic.
Highly recommend for any bridal parties looking for a great hair experience!

My experience at Haus started out fabulously! I booked my first color here with Nikki, looking to do some all-​over balyage to lighten my hair for summer. She was AMAZING and made me feel really comfortable with her plans for my color. We had a nice chat and I enjoyed taking in the atmosphere while she handpainted my highlights.
The problem started with being transferred over to the woman who was finishing my color. I totally get why salons operate this way, since Nikki was able to see two other clients while my hair was washed and styled, but I was really disappointed. I am an African American with natural hair, so it’s a lot to handle if you’re not familiar with it. The woman that was finishing my appointment clearly was not. The rinse went fine, but as soon as we got back to the chair it was clear she didn’t know what to do with my type of hair. I had to walk her through everything, even going as far as having to tell her which type of comb to use and ask her to turn up the temperature of the flat iron since if you use it at a low setting, it doesn’t affect my hair at all. I just let it be, knowing that I would have to re-​style it once I got home, which is a little annoying after paying as much as you do. Then, when I was at the desk paying, I overheard the receptionist offer to keep an eye on the meter of the woman who had just checked in. I hadn’t realized this was an option, and added to my annoyance since I was not offered this same service and had a ticket on my car when I left.
If this was just about the color I got from Nikki, I would have definitely rated it 5 stars. Next time I’ll be sure to request that someone familiar with my hair type finishes my appointment.

I first came across HAUS a few years ago, researching hair salons on behalf of my Mom who was trying to go gray but kept encountering old-​fashioned hairdressers who told her that «it would age her» and kept steering her away from going natural. With all of HAUS’s great reviews and press, I called and chatted with a receptionist at the time, who recommended Marlee. She was wonderful and over the course of 12+ months, slowly and gracefully transitioned my Mom from dark brown, to her own natural gray color. My Mom is extremely low maintenance — my Dad cuts her hair, which she wears pulled back everyday. Marlee made her feel comfortable, didn’t try to upsell her on suddenly becoming a regular salon-​goer, and now my Mom has natural, gorgeous gray hair that she gets compliments on all the time.
SECOND REVIEW:
While visiting Minneapolis, I booked an appointment with Caitlin, after reading her bio and some of her reviews. I’m also pretty low-​maintenance. Natural textures, no heat tools. Caitlin completely got it and gave me an awesome haircut that worked with my fine but abundant and slightly wavy hair. She also had great tips for styling long hair naturally. She worked with me and listened to exactly what my normal routine was. And even though I normally air-​dry my hair, I loved the blow-​out she gave me.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that she’ll still be around when I move back to the Twin Cities…

Wonderful to have a full service salon, with competitive pricing in the North Loop. Beautiful shop, attentive staff, reasonable prices. Have had two haircuts with Emily, and nail services with Jan, and felt both were among the best I’d received. Great to have them in the neighborhood!

I have been to Haus in the North Loop 3 times now and have had phenomenal service each visit. Whitney is the best mens specialist I have ever seen. I always leave with professional, modern looking haircut and get my beard trimmed up nice and crisp. The girls at the desk are extremely hospitable, taking your coat and always offering you a beverage, and parking has always been easy, getting a meter right in front each time. I don’t see myself getting a haircut anywhere else anytime soon!

Have been treated to hair cuts by Tanya for years. So excited she’s now at Haus. I have always, always been happy with my cuts from Tanya. There are few stylists that can cut fine, straight hair really well — Tanya is an expert! And the whole experience at Haus is a cherry on top. Woot!

Simply Amazing! This new North Loop location is stylish, and relaxing. The natural light, and décor are so complimentary to the classy service I received. Heather, was my colorist. She greeted me, and started out with an aromatherapy scalp massage. It really got me in the mindset be well taken care of. My full micro foil turned out gorgeous! It’s just what I needed to freshen up my dull winter attitude. Heather has exceptional attention to detail, and my foils are fabulous. Heather is definitely skilled, and her expertise shows. I can recommend Haus North Loop in a heartbeat, and Heather without a doubt.

Any guys in the area looking for a fast, professional look — stop in Haus on your lunch break and ask for Whitney. Saw her randomly, now I won’t go anywhere else.
