Greek Grill is open again! This makes me so happy, as it was by far the best gyro place in the downtown area before they were forced to close their city center location by their landlord. Open again in the skyway over in Northstar in swanky new digs, definitely the best Greek food you’ll find and fast service at that.

Why did this place close? I was just there a few weeks ago, and it was packed as usual. Tried to go there today and it’s empty, no sign or anything. It was one of my very favorite places in the skyway!

In town on business– and wanted to give this place a second chance. Sorry I did. Ordered the Kabob combo, and had to return it after trying the first piece of lamb meat. The meat was barely cooked– very pink inside. Tried to cut another to see if it was as undercooked– and knife couldn’t even make a dent as meat was so soft due to being nearly raw. Bonus was that no one really cared at the counter when I asked for a refund.

I like the food. Spanikopita? Very good. PROBLEM? If you’re not going to be open for breakfast, take the menu down.

This is a nice and quick Greek food joint. My only issue is with their wraps/sandwiches. They always stuff them that you aren’t able to keep the food in it as you attempt to consume it… Grab a fork or spoon to eat your sandwich cause it won’t be in that format once you unwrap the foil.

This hits the spot when you need some spice at lunch. The afghan chicken kabobs are really similar to tikka kabobs, so I was pleased with the flavor. The Greek salad is pretty good, but the dressing feels more oily than flavorful. The portions could be a lot bigger too. I was super duper hungry after an hour, and I don’t know why? The portions seemed large, but it left me wanting more. Def a place to visit in the skyway.

Today I was in the mood for a Gyro so I walked down to the Greek Grill to fulfill this want. I had the Chicken Gyro combo(fries and soda) for just under $ 10. I consider the price to be reasonable for fast food downtown. I walked back to my office to dig in. Boy was I disappointed. The ingredients were fresh but the tzatziki sauce left so much to be desired. One of the best things about tzatziki sauce is that you get to taste it for the rest of the day. The Greek Grill’s version left me running for some gum to remove the flavor. Such a bummer but I will not go back.

My take is that it just doesn’t compare to Trieste Café, which has the market cornered on good Greek downtown. That said, Trieste runs out of seating quick and if you want to sit and eat your Greek, this is probably your best(albeit distant second) option. Or perhaps I’m just spoiled by Trieste.

It’s a blessing(and a curse) that Greek Grill is thisclose to my work place. This is the perfect workplace fast food joint: the prices are reasonable, the service is nice, the food comes out fast and hot, the soda has free refills, the silverware is stocked, the place is clean and bright, the tables turn pretty quickly(and there’s a lot of them), there’s a loyalty program, and of course the food is pretty damn great. Oh and they have a pretty big menu with lots of daily specials, that I really must try. But it’s so hard to deviate from the tried and true, you know? I go for your classic gyro sandwich with side of fries about 98% of the time. I don’t mind that they’re made ahead of time for the lunch hour rush, because that means I’m in and out of that place in 3 minutes, tops. Well 3 and a half if I take the time to put seasoned salt on the fries, which is an absolute must. Their fries are always piping hot and a perfect mix of crunchy and soft. It glistens slightly with oil so the salt coats it really well. The gyro sandwich is legit, the meat to pita ratio is pretty ridiculous in a good way, and all its components just work, down to the stinky fresh onions. Yes, my 1 o’clock meeting just got funky. Ooh, and the falafel remind me of the ones I used to get in Berkeley on an almost daily basis. Which is to say, it’s awesome possum. So yeah, this is the perfect lunch spot.

Great spot. I’ve had the gyros and Greek Grill Combo and neither failed to deliver. Good spice with great flavor. Lunchtime gets pretty busy so be sure to get there a little early

I enjoy the food here. The staff keep moving and while sometimes the wait is a bit long(depending on what you order and the number of customers) you can see them preparing your food so you know it’s fresh. The price is right for the downtown location. For choices in the skyway, it ranks in my top 10 for a take out lunch. The dressing on the greek salad is delicious and the portion for a side salad is generous. Gyros are standard, nothing in particular stands out about them but they are good. The basamati rice is always perfect. A lamb kabob will take a while to cook but if you’ve got the time to wait(10 minutes?) it is delicious. Seating is a little crowded — don’t try to have a private conversation. But, privacy isn’t what you should be looking for in the skyway anyway.

Greek Grill is one of the better skyway options for lunch and I think it is the best in City Center. It’s a pretty standard set up: order at the counter, pay, and wait for your number to be called. I’ve had quite a few things here, but my favorites include: — The veggie combo, which includes Greek salad, spanakopita, dolmas and falafel. The portions are pretty big; I could eat it all, but that would be pushing it. — Chicken kabob plate(with choice of salad or rice). If you order this, it sometimes takes a little longer to get your food, but it’s worth it. — Santorini Chicken is a special that is sometimes available and is a large Greek salad with seasoned chicken breast on top. Delish! I would skip the fries though here… not worth it.

If you’re a gyro fan, get yourself to Greek Grill. This is one of my favorite workday lunch spots. The gyros are amazing, the fries are delicious, their seasoning salt is so good I would sprinkle it on some tree bark and eat it. Also, I love the pictures of Greece up on the walls. I like to look at them while I eat and pretend I am on some fabulous vacation instead of on a brief break from Cubeville. Like any place downtown, it gets busy at lunch and seating fills up fast — this is easily rememdied though if you plan ahead and go there a little early.

I stumbled upon this place years ago when I first moved to the twin cities and as time passed I slowly forgot about it. Luckily for me as faith would have it, I found it once more. I started working downtown at City Center and to my surprise as I came out of the office building during lunchtime, there it was staring me in the eye. Needless to say I was very happy to have found this amazing place once again. It’s my go to lunch spot whenever I’m in the office. I have yet to try anything that is bad on their menu. They have something for everyone so don’t be shy of paying this place a visit. There is lamb, beef, chicken and even veggie options. I usually tend to get a chicken gyro with rice(you can also get it with fries — they double fry them). Oh and don’t forget the hot sauce that they make in house, gives the meal the extra kick it needs(definitely not hot for me but it gives it a little extra flavor). There is plenty of seating indoors as well as some seating outside of the place. Word of advice try to avoid the lunchtime rush, because the line gets long and the seating quickly disappears. The place is clean and inviting with a friendly staff. My one suggestion for the owners would be to figure out a new ordering process, especially for the high traffic time. The lines stretch out to the front of the door and once you place your order you try to find a spot to stand in while you wait for your food, which becomes a tricky thing when it’s the lunchtime rush. Other than that minor issue, this place is a winner in my book. I will definitely be having more gyros from this place as I continue to work downtown.

I had only been to this place once before and was happy with the experience. This time around, I stopped at this place with a bunch of coworkers for team lunch. One of the guys that I work with had a craving for Greek food; so, Greek Grill we went! We arrived a little after 11:30AM, there wasn’t a long line, but there were plenty of people already eating. The setup is pretty easy, order off the simple menu, pay and pick up your order when they call your number. This time around I got the Combo 3; which is a gyro, Greek salad and a beverage; I got lamb, there is no other way to get a gyro! Just like I remembered from the first time I ate here, the lamb was tender and the ingredients were very fresh. The cucumber sauce has something special in it, but I can’t figure it out. This place has great food, fast service and most of all, you can pay with a $ 10 and get change back. *be sure to get there between 11:30 and 11:45; it was PACKED at noon*

Greek Grill is good if you’re feeling like a gyro but don’t want to spend $ 10 for a meal. There is a good selection of gyros but I generally go with the gyro combo with fries. I generally avoid this place from 12 — 1 and get my lunch here at 1:30 or 2 when it’s dead and I can hear myself. The rare times I am here during a lunch rush they still offer quick service, you just might not find a place to sit, but that’s why to-go was invented, yeah?

Like everyplace downtown, they seem really crowded at lunchtime, but their service was incredibly fast. So, as long as you can find a seat, it’s worth the short wait in line. Their beef & lamb gyro is delicious – the meat is cooked and seasoned to perfection, and the veggies & cucumber sauce compliment it nicely without overpowering the flavor. One of my favorite dishes at Mediterranean places is taboulie, and although they offer it, it isn’t listed on their menu as an option to order in a combo with a gyro(as fries, salad or basmati rice are), but they were able to fill my special request so I didn’t have to pay an additional $ 5 to try it out. Their taboulie was really fresh tasting(as it should be) with nice chunks of cucumbers & tomatoes, just the right amount of diced onions and a generous amount of parsley. I highly recommend it. **You can find coupons on their website for a free dessert or 10% off your entire order.

Working downtown means you are stuck with what is close to you. This place not only offers convinience, the food is absolutely great. The gyros are tender, yummy, flavorful and have all the right spices. Their fries are quite yummy too, sometimes I just get that I gotta get me some french fries fix, I stop by here. The staff is nice and friendly. There is abundance of ketchup and napkins. If you avoid the lunch rush, you can score a nice table and really enjoy your meal. The only negative thing about this place– are the prices, its quite expensive. Ive been sticking with simple gyros simply because I am not sure if I want to spend $ 10 – 12 for lunch on something I am not so sure about.

I loved this place. We went here for a team lunch and for 8 bucks I got a gyro, a good sized greek salad, and a refillable soda. We took the trek 5 blocks to the deceptively large restaurant before you get to the Target HQ at City Center. We got there about 11:15 and there was a smallish line on a Friday. By about 12, the place was PACKED! I ordered my food and had to wait about 4 or five minutes for it, it was funny to see the guy taking the order shouting in Spanish back to the cooks behind him at a Greek place. But they knew what he was talking about, because they got my order spot on. The gyro was just the perfect size, I have been to Greek places that make gyros that are the size of your head and just ridiculous. The lamb was spiced perfectly and just enough veggies and cucumber sauce was just delightful. The pita bread was grilled just enough to soften it up, and it was fluffy and thick. I could sense a little more flavor than the regular pita bread. The Greek salad was another splendid sized portion, just enough dressing and lots of solid red onions, tomatoes, and feta cheese. Just one olive, but I can live with that. The order takers were great and everyone had a smile on their face at our table. Loved this place for the price and company.
