It was fine but nothing special. Great local scene. Maybe I’ll try lunch and an ice cream shake.

I Love Emily’s and often bring out of town visitors there for breakfast. Emily and her staff are always so welcoming and the service is great. I live close by so it’s great to be able to walk up to have a great breakfast.

A favorite Saturday morning breakfast spot for me and my husband. We had heard so much about Victory 44 down the street we decided to give it a try. The service was AWFUL. Actually worst we ever had. We will never stray from Emily’s again. At Emily’s the food is great and the service is outstanding. Hopefully we will be able to try lunch there soon.

The first place I ate when I moved to minneapolis! Let me start by saying I love diners the whole atmosphere of a diner is semi soothing to me. So imagine my surprise when I found this little gem. The menu is unbelievably reasonable and the staff are simply wonderful. Emily, who came over to say hi, is an authentic Italian. you sure can tell too, from her authenti, c homemade, from scratch food(her homemade spaghetti sauce almost had me in tears). If your looking for possibly the most charming café in Minneapolis look no further, an while your there tell Emily I said hello, and kudos… :P

I will start by saying I love Emily and Elliot the owners of this establishment. They welcome everyone to their restaurant. I have been going here for years and very much enjoy the food and the staff there. Be warned, after church on Sunday they get quite crowded and there can be a bit of a wait. Some may call this a local greasy spoon restaurant but I challenge anyone to say they don’t have a favorite so called greasy spoon restaurant or family owned establishment. If you say you don’t you are either a wimp and won’t admit it or you live under a rock. The breakfasts are very large and priced very well. I love their Italian Omelet, but the pancakes are to die for. THEYAREHUGE! They are also one of very few restaurants that will do poached eggs for you. Miss. Emily’s homemade Italian sausage is also a great addition to your meal. Emily will come around to each and every table and ask how her kids(her customers) are doing and they really do care about you and your meal there. If I have to have any complaints, well, it is not the best coffee in the world but they keep your cup full. I have never tried any of their lunch items but one of these days I shall and I will write about that.

Excellent breakfast. Great service. A comfortable, family — friendly restaurant. The Italian Omelet is my favorite. Definitely get it with Emily’s home made tomato sauce. Also, when I crave grits this is the only place that satisfies other than the Waffle House in Ft. Myers.

If you love fast, simple diner food, this is the spot. Small, community and family oriented. Nothing fancy, but always fills me up! And the coffee gets me shakin! I almost always get the same thing. All of the neighborhood folks sit at the breakfast bar. Half of the staff is family and they have all been there for 10+ years. It’s home away from home :)

That’s right… was a breakfast not fit for man NOR beast and Unilocal — you’re to blame for this. When driving around we’re a big fan of what we like to call GPS Roulette. This mean we go places we’ve never been and let the GPS point us to the nearest small café or neighborhood restaurant. Today there was nothing close, so I fired up Unilocal… Come on baby… papa’s hungry and needs some FOOD… Look at that, Emily’s is close by, peeps on Unilocal dig it. Crunchy hash browns ya say? Can’t be all that bad right? After all it’s a small neighborhood family restaurant — BOOM — us and our tummy’s are down. The place is small, clean, and well lit. There’s a small counter in the middle and the usuals are hanging out. It totally has to be good. We sat at a small booth in the corner and were promptly served water and asked if we wanted anything anything else, coffee, juice, Pepsi products. It’s breakfast time, so Orange Juice please. The menu is simple, breakfast on one side, lunch/supper on the other. PS, it’s $$ and not $ like Unilocal says. We ordered an omelet with hash browns(an extra $ 1.25) and a breakfast which included eggs, choice of meat, has browns, and toast. Service was quick and the food was out fast. Is that a bad thing? I always wonder. Now for the 1 star review, which I have NEVER given. When the food was delivered we died a little on the inside. On our plates were the saddest excuse for breakfast we’ve ever had, and we’ve been to a LOT of Twin Cities breakfast places. The bacon and cheese omelet consisted of a single undercooked piece of bacon, with two slices of american cheese tucked into a warm, runny, underdone egg concoction of an omelet. Oh done worry Unilocalers, the description of the hash browns is coming. You’ve read this far, you’ve earned it. The other dish was two eggs over hard(asked for over easy), super crispy bacon(a plus), hash browns, and 2 pieces of burnt toast. Now, for the«crunchy hash browns». Just imagine a perfectly browned rectangle of shredded potatoes. We was on the edge our seats. We had to try ‘em. As the edges of our forks touched the surface of the hash browns we could hear it. «Crunch» said the hash browns — there was hope. But as our forks made their way through to the surface of the plate our hopes were dashed. The youngest of Unilocalers should stop reading at this time. Just saying… Those«crunchy» beautiful hash browns were actually a shredded potato sponge! And they didn’t sponge up breakfast love my friends. They sponged up nothing but vegetable oil. Yes Unilocalers, if you’re into watching an oil slick form on your plate every single time you go for a bite, then Emily’s is the right place. But if you’re looking for breakfast and your in North Minneapolis, save yourself the time and the money and hit McDonalds instead.

Service was excellent, food was outstanding, staff was very friendly, and made me a sandwich upon request and it wasn’t even on the menu and I loved it! Went on a Monday and was sort of busy so weekends may be but don’t know for sure.

Emily’s is the place to be if you desire a home cooked meal. Nothing fancy about the food, but it’s always tasty, never very expensive, and kind of feels like it’s like going to Grandma’s for Easter brunch. The staff has always been friendly, if a little slow in their rush hours(isn’t everywhere though?). It is a nifty neighborhood hang out for sure.

Emily’s is just a great neighborhood breakfast place in North Minneapolis. I live in North Minneapolis and it’s the only one I go to somewhat regularly. They recently remodeled the place so it’s a lot cleaner and brighter. The menu has pretty standard items ~ the usual omelets, pancakes, and other items for breakfast… Lunch items consist of burgers, club sandwiches, nothing really out of the ordinary. The best part of the place is the service and Emily. The service is always friendly and helpful. And Emily can almost always be found walking around greeting everyone.

A very nice neighborhood café. I came here for late breakfast today and the place was bustling. The food was actually nothing special. It was good but just standard good. I ordered the eggs with Italian sausage and a pancake. Eggs were eggs. I could make eggs like that and my bf could make better pancakes. The Italian sausage though was really good. It was a little spicy and full of flavor. I have to admit I cant make a sausage like that. The true specialty about this café though was the owners and the staffs. While I was there this morning, the husband owner was sitting at the counter eating his breakfast, while the wife owner(Emily) was in the kitchen making her home-made sauce. The husband literally say hi and bye to every single customer that walked in and out. Once the husband was done with his food, he walked around asking all the patrons how their meals were. After the semi rush was over, the head cook came out to take a break at the counter. Happy diners walked to him and say how great their meals were. The servers were also very friendly and attentive. This place just gives you a really warm fuzzy feeling. It’s like you are a part of their families once you open the door and set foot to this place.

This is a great little gem in North Minneapolis. Bright and clean with a friendly wait staff and good, solid diner food. The owner Emily is full blood Italian and unfortunately was in Italy when my boyfriend and I stopped in so we didn’t meet her. I did buy some of her Italian meat sauce though that they freeze and sell to patrons to take home. I can’t wait to try it.

I just started working with a school in North Minneapolis and needed a place to meet for lunch. This place was recommended to us by some of the staff, so we thought we would try it out. It is a nice, CLEAN little diner. The menu has enough options to choose from, but is not overwhelming. They have a good variety of sandwiches and burgers, including a ‘light’ menu. However, it looked like the breakfast menu was the best!(I may have to try it again for a breakfast meeting!) I had the chef salad(on the light menu) that was quite large. It comes complete with your choice of white or wheat toast(I did not get to the toast though). The salad was good, but not amazing. The downfall of the salad was the American cheese. Being from Wisconsin, I don’t believe that American cheese is REAL cheese. However, I would order it again. The prices are affordable and the service was pleasant and efficient. Pay at the counter before you go, and you can be in and out in no time. There was even a really nice lady(not sure if it was the owner or manager) that made sure everything was okay before we left. Unusual to see in a diner. I would expect this from a fancy overpriced place. Not overly impressive, but definitely acceptable. I will most likely be back now that I am frequenting the north side!

There should be a great little diner like this in every neighborhood. Everyone eating here seemed to know eachother, the cooks and wait staff were very friendly and talkative. It feels like the neighborhood kitchen, where everyone is family. The food was plain, good, but nothing special. Reasonably priced breakfast. They are only open until 2 p.m. The Italian sausage was better than average, everything else was about average.

This is a diner sort of spot. So, go there knowing that, and don’t expect white tablecloths, you know? What I love about the place is that it attracts such a cross-section of people. And it does that because the diner food they serve is really tasty. When I went, they had a breakfast dish with Italian sausage– it was AMAZING. As we stopped by the cashier on the way out, we met the owner– and she makes the sausage herself. Great diner; tasty breakfast. Go and enjoy!

Emily, I love you. I love your little breakfast joint in the hood. It has lasted throughout the years and stayed the same while the neighborhood changes around it. Emily’s is a total seat yourself diner with the cooks right behind the counter. I think everyone that works there is related. Emily herself pops in on a regular basis and walks around checking on the patrons. I used to live a block away and miss being able to roll out of bed and walk down the street for a little grease. Don’t expect to be amazed by the food but the overall experience is pretty darn cute. PS make sure the top to the ketchup is on tight… I shook a bottle once and covered myself and the table behind us with ketchup. Good times.
