Downtown Eyes

Been wearing glasses since I was like 5 or 6 years old and have seen a lot of optometrists over the years and was somewhat skeptical when I booked an appointment with Downtown Eyes (formerly Dr. Toomey). I guess I was stereotyping a lot of past experiences as I thought it would be with your typical optometrist and related equipment.
Fact is it was quite the opposite.
First, I guess Dr. Toomey retired and Dr. Zastrow purchased the practice. I find her to be very proficient in her field, easily conveyed each step of the process, and has true compassion for her clients (which is rare these days).
Second, the equipment is state-​of-​the-​art! I did not have to get the usual eye drops and be unable to read, drive, etc. for hours while having a headache as well. The technology she incorporates in her practice makes me a life long fan and I will return.
There may be concerns about service regarding previous glasses with the old practice but why would I want to go to Walmart or Target for glasses because they have a hard enough time stocking laundry detergent and keeping my credit card information secure soI am to trust THEM with my vision! Moreover, Pearle Vision and Lenscrafter’s may give you one hour service, however, I have had numerous problems with their product, their customer service sucks, and they are very costly.
Bottom line is you get one pair of eyes and I would trust them with Downtown Eyes before I would allow a fast-​food optician to care for them.

I recently had a minor eye infection and when I called into Downtown Eyes to see if they could get me in before the weekend I was really impressed. Unfortunately, the doctor was booked SOLID that day, so they weren’t sure if they could squeeze me in, so they asked me a series of questions and relayed them to the doctor, then had the nurse call me back and determined they needed to find a way to get me in! And they did!
It was a fast appointment, but Dr. Toomey said it was good they were able to give me drops and I was really thankful they vetted my eye ailment before taking 30 minutes of work.
Another great experience with Downtown Eyes! Love these guys!

I’ve been a patient of Dr Toomey’s and a patron of DT Eyes for the past twenty years. Dr Toomey has always been extremely thorough and careful with my yearly exams. Every few years or so I have worked with the staff to update my glasses and have found the service to be friendly, patient and helpful. Granted, depending on your selection of frames and lenses, glasses are expensive, but DT Eyes has a good selection of frames in a range of price points. I have referred many of my friends to DT Eyes and will continue to do so!
