Full disclosure: I may be the biggest Culver’s advocate on the planet, and this is my home branch. I’m now living on the east coast and really miss this place! I’ve been to this location dozens of times since 2002 and have never had a bad experience. Great food, good service, clean, wide variety of choices … I’ve taken many friends here who were visiting from outside the Midwest and they all love it. Although«fast casual» restaurants with much better ingredients and food than traditional fast food restaurants have really taken off in the past ten years, I think Culver’s is still an anomaly for its outstanding quality/cost ratio. I am a simple man and mainly stick with the staples: frozen custard and Butterburgers. But there are so many other good choices!

Summary: — fast food that’s a little slower cause it’s freshly made — very tasty custard — found mostly in Midwest — I have fond memories of biking to Culver’s when I was a kid, albeit a different location. It’s one of the few restaurants that are only found in the midway so the chain holds a special place in my heart. They have a dine in and drive through that take a little longer than your average fast food because they fry everything fresh. On this particular visit, I just got some vanilla custard. As I remembered from my childhood, the stuff was creamier than normal ice cream, less sugary, and had that distinct egg like taste. When I word it like that, it actually sounds kind of gross but take a leap of faith on this one. Be careful though; the custard melts faster cause it has less air in it. Highly recommend a trip to one of these stores!

Culver’s is great. I texted my friends a picture of the burger and told them I was going to have a heart attack; the thing itself is called a butter burger which holds true to its midwestern roots. Got the double today because sometimes a single isn’t enough for me(and I’m pretty small although to be fair have a happy appetite) which was a little too much food in the end. I love the root beer here — not sure how they make it but it’s definitely some of the better root beer I’ve had. I also always get the lemon ice with raspberries; they give a generous portion of whatever fruit you get and it’s perfect on a warm day(today has freezing rain unfortunately; ah Minnesota!). Servers are also nice; I feel badly that they have to come all the way to your car when you’re using the drive through regardless of inclement weather. Hope they get paid well!

Really? I have no idea why this needs a review. It is fast food! I live across the street from this Culver’s. I have eaten here twice in a pinch. It is your typical fast food joint, slightly nicer than a McDonalds. I wouldn’t go out of your way to check it out.

Culvers and Me: a relationship that was just more than ButterBurgers. It was the summer of ’02, and I had just graduated high school. Culvers had just opened a few months ago after much hype, and I instantly became a permament fan of Culvers. I was 18, and didn’t care about my health, so of course I got their JUMBO deluxe burger combos. From the description I heard it was 3 single all beef never frozen patties mashed into one. Good enough for me! The burgers tasted fresh, the buns were lightly toasted with butter, their crinkle french fries, all washed down with my cherry Pepsi always did the trick. But it wasn’t until I found out about their lemon coolers, did I fall in love. That smooth lemon ice, blended with your choice of fruit(maraschino cherries), served in a nice plastic cup was the perfect frozen beverage/treat. Culvers and I became sorta a thing, making as much as 7 visits in a 10 day period. Unfortunately, that was also the last summer I would be able to do that. I went off to college, and Culvers stayed behind. Of course kept in touch when I came back in town, and even the Culvers drive thru guys remembered me and various rides(previa/rodeo/element), but it was never quite the same after the summer. In all seriousness though, Culvers is my standard of high class fast food. They actually DELIVER your food to the table. Their burgers are one of the best, they have real onion rings, and you can’t beat their desserts. I’m not a huge fan of ice cream, but if you are, you have to try their frozen custard. Hopefully you’ll get lucky and go when the flavor of the day fancies your taste. I’ve have many great memories of Culvers, hopefully you will too!
