If you are in need of a unique gift, check this place out! Make your way to the large rooster outside. Then travel into the fully packed store of stuff from floor to ceiling of merchandise. I only stopped in here to take a look, because I was drawn in by all the décor out front. I didn’t have a particular reason or event to buy for. It was fun to browse through all the stuff in the store. I saw everything from soap, yard signs, socks to headbands and greeting cards. It was a mix of vintage/antiques and new products. Check it out for yourself.

This charming shop has a little bit of everything. Each time I visit(roughly every couple of months), the selection is different and I happen upon new treasures, though a few fun themes do jump out: vintage souvenir glassware and ashtrays; jewelry from fine to costume; fabulous sunglasses; high-quality candles; dishes, decorative towels, and other kitchen accoutrements; and a great selection of greeting cards from fashionable to cheeky. To give you another glimpse of the range: On my last visit, I picked up a pair of French silver earrings; an antique German chocolate-rabbit mold; and six Italian grappa glasses.(It was quite the Grand Tour, in retail form.) Plus, as others have noted, the owner is knowledgeable and obviously passionate about his trade – and while he’s eager to help, he lets you wander and explore for yourself. All in all, a delightful place to pass a pleasant hour and find some one-of-a-kind gifts.

Love finding hidden gems like this. Tucked away in Bryn Mawr — a neighborhood off the beaten MPLS path — is a bright green store. With a huge rooster statue welcoming in the curious passerby. I happened to be in the neighborhood and was delighted to step in the front door and be greeted by delicious smelling candles, and soft Frank Sinatra sounding throughout the boutique. I love the old/new combo in stores, with bits and pieces of antiques, handmade goods, and new items for sale. The owner was very kind and let me wander without asking me constantly if I needed help. It is so much nicer to shop without a babysitter, can I get an Amen? Definitely worth the trip for some great gifties!

I have an affinity for thrift/gift shops like this one, so I stopped in a few weeks ago to check Cockadoodledoo out. Apparently, it’s a bit of a hidden find too since I’m only the second reviewer! My first impression was that it’s slightly overwhelming, even for someone who really likes digging for secondhand treasure. They have an outdoor courtyard area which probably takes on some of the goods in nicer weather, but it was a bit too much for me to handle inside this tiny shop. The bright side though: mixed into the clutter, I did find some cool things. There are some new gifty things like bath salts and jewelry, plus vintage home décor, accent furniture and odds and ends. Knickknacks aren’t really my thing, but they have lots of those too. Prices are moderate. To sum this up quick, I’d definitely give Cockadoodledoo a shot if you’re looking for unique gifts, but just be aware that your claustrophobic friends will have to wait at the coffee shop next door while you browse.

Jerry has an awesome and very original collection of new and old. bath products and candles, antiques for kitchen as well as décor such as an old riding saddle or a Moroccan inlaid box, as well as lovely crafts like interesting jewelry and cards hand made from local artisans. Terrific shop. Love buying gifts there.
