First time customer however I’ll be back soon! Atmosphere, food and service were all top notch. New owners recently changed the menu(January). I can’t wait until I can dine in the summer on the rooftop deck.

Long time customer of this place. Went there recently and found out they had new ownership. Very impressed with the new ownership. Not that the place was bad before, but he brought about some very much needed updates in the place. He was walking around introducing himself to the customers and seemed very hands on. Everything seemed very well organized and a tight ship. Great place to bring a date. As for the food; well amazing as always with some nice additions to the menu. Very nice revitalization; well done sir!

Please note that beginning December first Amore is under new ownership. I think the problems noted in earlier posts have been corrected. Also, they will be closing for a week in January to remodel. Sitting at the bar with friendly people and being able to look out the big windows down the street is always a treat, and the happy hour food is a good deal.

One of the rare bad experiences I had. Bread was dry. Food was too saucy and cheesy. Menu was confusing. Service was bad.

I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant — wasn’t super excited when I saw 3 stars on Unilocal but the experience was delightful! Yes, we stood in the doorway a little longer than expected… there really isn’t much space to wait at the podium(even though there wasn’t anyone else waiting to be seated), and since there was no hostess at the podium, we waited for a couple minutes for someone to show and seat us. But after that the experience was fantastic! The décor of this place is amazing — makes you feel like you’re somewhere in Europe, at a cute little café that serves delicious food. The staff was attentive — we got an entire booth to ourselves(granted we came on a Monday night). The bar was always filled with locals(seemingly Italian locals), it was an intimate, charming space to have dinner. They had happy hours until 7pm which was generous and they had a few wines and appetizers on special. $ 6 for bruschetta and calamari — we ordered bruschetta. It was very garlicky and the tomatoes could’ve been riper, but all in all it was very tasty and they toasted the bread just right. The entrees we ordered were AMAZING. If you’re looking for a lighter version of comfort Italian food, this is not the place to go for it. This place will give you rich Italian food to perfection, for a pretty dollar, but the quality is there, the food is fantastic, richness and flavor galore. Price per entrée though was about $ 20 and it was a good portion, although I would say that most people could finish the entire plate. So it’s a little pricy but if you feel like eating some comfort food, and you’re in the mood for something a little more rustic, but elevated, this is a great place to start.

Excellent food and wine. I had the Fruitta di Mare. It was a beautiful dish of seafood, and slightly spicy. There was so much food, I had enough left overs for a second meal. My friend had the lasagna and said it was very good.

As an occasional business traveler I’m used to dining alone. Being ignored, I am not. I stumbled across this place while looking for a different restaurant, but thought I’d give it a try. It was early, 6pm for dinner, on a rainy Sunday evening, but still the service was terrible. My drink sat on the bar or several minutes before someone brought it over. My server did stop by to let me know that the kitchen had lost my order, so it would be several minutes more before my meal would be served. Then, after I had finished my meal(food was okay), finished my drink, I was expecting my bill. I read for a bit. Read a bit more. Tried flagging down my server(unsuccessfully). Then finally managed to get someone’s attention. Wow. My card was run, and the cc receipt was correct, however the itemized bill was not mine. Really? If you are part of a large group, this place maybe okay. If you are a lone diner, don’t go.

Amore gets a two star review because that would be the average between my two key criteria: Service — 0 Food — 4 We’ll start with the good. The food is solid every time; whether you order to go, dine in or have a group rental in the basement party room. I personally love all of the veal dishes they offer and would recommend that to anyone visiting Amore. I would also recommend you come with a full charge on your cell phone because even the most talkative of people can’t hold a conversation long enough to cover the time between when you are seated to when you get your water, much less your food. I suppose that is a good segway to the 0 on service. I am beginning to think that my wife, our friends and myself are the only people who don’t know that Amore’s schtick is to have abysmal service. I can’t imagine any other reason to have the same slow, uninformed of the menu service every single visit. Never visit Amore if you want to be out of there in less than 2 hours for dinner and/or if you care that the server forgets to bring you what order more times than not. Tip: ask for your bread immediately when being seated. Don’t delay this request, it will help you while you wait. I also recommend asking them to drop off the balsamic to mix with the oil and parm they bring with the bread. Delicious.

After living in Uptown for several years, my girlfriend and I finally decided to try out the Italian food at your restaurant, which we drive by almost every day. We always thought that the quaint setting looked like just the place we would like to spend a night out. Unfortunately, we were wrong. It all started when we weren’t greeted upon entering the restaurant — we simply stood in the doorway, unsure if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait for a host. After several minutes of standing around, finally the bartender noticed us and told us to take a seat. We ignored the awkward entrance and excitedly looked at the happy hour drinks. We both ordered a glass of Coppola Rosso which arrived at our table ten minutes later. It was freezing cold, which is clearly not how a red blend should be served. To avoid being rude to our waiter, we didn’t mention anything about the frigid wine. We proceeded to order appetizers of calamari and bruschetta — the calamari was extremely undercooked, not to mention soggy from being served on damp pieces of lettuce. We should have stopped there, but to our dismay, we decided to order two entrees. We ordered the Fettuccine Della Nonna and the Seared Scallops with Wild Mushroom Risotto, two of the most expensive items on the menu. The scallops in both meals were not cooked well and very tough in texture. The calamari in the fettuccine was, like the appetizer, undercooked and I didn’t even have the stomach to taste a single one. My girlfriend even noticed the calamari pushed to the edge of my plate and asked if I had chewed them up and spit them out. I didn’t — that is how they looked when they arrived. We tried to laughing off our dining experience, as we paid $ 100 for food we primarily couldn’t consume. However, we aren’t laughing the next day when we were stuck in bed with food poisoning. Needless to say, we will not be returning to Amore Victoria, nor will we be recommending it to anyone that we know.

Al fresco Saturday lunch on one of the most glorious days of the entire summer was… HORRIFIC. We were so surprised the magnificent roof patio was almost vacant… should have taken the hint and departed immediately. The service staff was of the lowest quality including the bartender who could not make an Arnold Palmer even after 3 attempts, the Fruit Crêpe was more tasteless than a Perkins pancake and just as thick with canned blueberries and soggy macerated strawberries and bananas, the Fusilli pasta was uneatable(even my garbage hound turned up his nose), and to add insult to injury — who can’t make an eatable Caesar dinner salad? Apparently, the chefs at Amore Victoria. Do NOT waste your time and dollars at over-priced AMOREVICTORIA, when there are so many other delightful restaurants in the area.

A friend checked out the happy hour for here and so we decided to check it out because the deals seemed very reasonable. Online it says the HH goes from 9:30pm — close so we went up on the rooftop right at 9:30pm. We asked the server about HH and she said that it was only downstairs inside(which we didn’t see posted anywhere) and that it started at 10pm. She brought us waters and we asked her again about HH because online it said it started at 9:30pm so she went downstairs to check as it seemed she had no idea. She came back and said HH was currently going on and we could go downstairs for those deals on drinks and food. She seemed very uninterested the whole time and didn’t know much about what was going on. We finished our drinks and headed downstairs at 10pm. The door was locked and no one was around and no signs were up. We eventually got the attention of someone inside who came to the the door to tell us they had closed because it was too slow. On their website it says they are open until 1pm so we were surprised it had already closed before 10pm, especially since our server on the rooftop hadn’t mentioned that at all(and she had known we were heading down there). I really want to like this place and try out their food but so far it has seemed too difficult.

5 stars for the amazing un-utilized roof deck. When all the other restaurants in uptown have 30 min wait, come here. Great inventive italian breakfast food, like an italian breakfast calzone. The best damn table bread money can’t buy. Also received a free tiramisu to end my meal. I plan on coming back for a real italian dinner. Only thing negative was my mojito. Bartender did not muddle it, mix it or put enough sugar. It was a sad too tonic-y mojito and on a slow sunday.

Presenting the already finalist for this year’s Worst of Uptown Minneapolis… Mother’s Day four course special brunch. First course featured a cup of vegetable soup which my kids had which was even worst than opening up a can of a 1980s condensed Campbell’s soup. The beat salad was two slices of beets that was no better than the jar beets you can purchase at Walmart. Second course was bread. Yes, bread, and did I say that it was also cold chewy and tough? Served with shredded Parmesan cheese that likely came from a big Sysco food service package. It was salty and utterly disgusting. Main course was cold salmon. But hey, it probably came out of the ocean cold right? The lasagna was a lot of cheese and what tastes like either cardboard or ground horse meat. My recommendation is for you to save yourself some aggravation and drive down Lake Street for a large crave pack of White Castle sliders.

Poor service & very sub par food. Greasy & bland. Even the soup wasn’t good. Worst lasagna I’ve ever eaten. Bread & butter was the best thing I had. Drinks are way over priced. Sauce is runny & oily.

«I have a very little amore for Amore. It a breaks my little a heart, cuz long time ago, Amore made me a so happy…» Last few visits and the most recent were mediocre to really, just sad. On a recent, lovely April Tuesday afternoon, called to see if rooftop was open. Why yes indeed. Yay. Had some kinfolk from the northern burbs and wanted to show them an Al fresco afternoon lunch. Surprise. Said rooftop was under major repairs, with 75% taped off with yellow caution tape. Looked like CSI Minneapolis. Including a fresh coat of paint. Mind you we were offered other locations for dining but decided to stick it out. I ordered bruschetta for the table and was quickly corrected in my tacky ‘Merican pronunciation…“Oh you mean brusKetta.” Um. Ok. Sure . Uff da. Then we had unhappy waiter. Poor dude. I know they have to climb those back stairs over and over and over… he had the personality of a meal worm. No H20 refills even after asking. No dessert or coffee offered. No specials mentioned. There were two. No split checks. Worst. For this Eggs Bennie loving man who works most weekends and was dying for a Benniie… a drizzle of thin, thin, watery Hollandaise, eggs poached well done and a sliver of smoked salmon. So…I think we’re on a break. And like Ross on Friends, I’ve already eaten elsewhere! ” WEWEREON A BREAK!”

My husband and i often past by this place when we go to the bars in uptown. it looks a bit fancy smancy from the outside but it’s common to see a crowd on the roof top. we decided to check it out on a Friday evening. i will admit that friday wasnt a great idea as it was super busy. i had reservations though so we didnt have to wait long, however they seated us at a table right smack in front of the door so I literally felt the breeze. it was similar to a high bar table but we were starving so I didn’t mind too much. Andrew ordered the lobster seafood pasta and I ordered the clam with white sauce. The food took forever! I literally wanted to walk out when it hit the 40 min mark. However the waiter did inform us that they were backed up in the kitchen. We munched on the bread in the meantime. It was very soft sourdough bread and I could have had some more but did not want to spoil my appetite. Eventually after 50 mins plus we got our food. It was actually amazing. Full of flavor and one of the best lobster pasta Andrews ever had. The portion was generous. The manager came to us to apologize for the wait and she gave us complimentary drinks and a gift card to come back. That made up for the hour-ish wait! We will be coming back!

Honestly, blah. Everything is just blah. First we had a snobbbbbyyyyy waiter and hostess. Secondly, they made our pasta super spicy, and when I mentioned to them that it was super spicy, our waiter just asked, «Do you think it’s like black pepper spicy or chili pepper spicy?» I told him like chili pepper spicy. He told us that it wasn’t suppose to be spicy at all, and then he walked away. I was expecting him to be like, «Oh, did you want me to take it away and get you a new one?» but we didn’t get that. So unsatisfying. Glad we only shared a dish(which is also super overpriced by the way). We left in a hurry and filled our stomachs with real food at Barbettes across the street. Damn, that was an unnecessarily expensive night for me. :(

The other night we went out for a lovely happy hour. Our waiter was Molly, a wonderful up beat women who know the menu/wine/beer menu very well. I would highly recommend going for a great HH with a wonderfully menu. The bread is amazing, mushroom paste great, veggy burger was ok, but great calamari.

Danny was amazing as a server. For drinks, the green machine and freestyle were winners. Rosa di pesto was what I had and yum! Huge portions. The other had steak and chicken Alfredo. They both thought the food was great. It got a little loud between 6−8p on a Saturday night but service was awesome. Our server, Danny, reminded me of the Danny — lead singer of The Script.
