Amazing bbq! It’s nice to find a small town bbq joint with top notch bbq, chicken and sides. If you get the sweet spicy though just a heads up it is spicy. You’ll get some spicy then you get those hot ones. Still very good if you can handle the heat

Billiken’s catered our wedding and we couldn’t have been happier with the service and food. Sharon worked with us to pick out a custom menu and took care of many of the details we hadn’t even thought about like silverware and cake plates. The food on the big day was amazing and the staff very friendly. The smoker outside the venue really got our guest’s appetites going and everything from the sides to the main courses were top notch. Would definitely recommend.

I have eaten here three times. The first time everything was spot on, the brisket was cooked perfect and sides were very good. The last two times I have been the brisket was fatty and chewy. The pulled pork and ribs have been good each time I have been.

You can smell the meat before you walk in the door, but that wonderful BBQ aroma really hits you once inside. It only gets better. The servings are generously HUGE. One order would easily serve two adults or one adult and a couple of young kids, or one teenage boy. I couldn’t finish my order(See photo). The meat is tender, falls apart in your mouth. The cole slaw is perfect and the beans are the best BBQ beans I’ve had in a long time. The entire restaurant was spotlessly clean and everything well stocked, and Shannon, the sole hostess/server when I came in, was friendly, helpful, answered my questions about the area and directed me to the place I was looking for, so, a real community spirit there too. We chatted and I was impressed with her attitude. Back to the food, the sauces for your meat come in a variety from sweet to sweet and spicy, North Carolina style and about 8 others. Fresh cornbread and a variety of Southern treats also available. The seating is perfect for large family or couples. It’s next to the Lake Anna Yacht club and being able to walk over and enjoy the view was nice.

Overall I’d have to say we enjoyed the food here more then the BBQ exchange in Gordonsville. Around $ 20 for two isn’t bad at all either.

This place is the best option anywhere on Lake Anna. Huge portions, delicious food, friendly service, and reasonable prices make this a great place to go for any meal.

I could smell the bbq from the moment we pulled up and my mouth began to water. Fortunately, the food did not disappoint! Everyone in my family — a group of 6 adults — practically licked our plates clean. The portions were very generous and the food was outstanding! They have a variety of sauces to choose from at a self serve station, which allows you to decide what you like best and how much you want; I enjoyed the sweet and spicy myself. I got the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on top. There aren’t a lot of dining options on the lake, so often we end up going to places that are just ok. So happy to have a place that I will truly look forward to eating! This place will definitely be a regular stop for us when we return to Lake Anna(about once a month). So good — a must try!

I havent even tasted the food and I will not be back. The cook was very nice and helpful. The waitress was more extremely disinterested in her customers. She would rather talk on the phone than help her customers. She is going to chase off customers She acted like she was doing me a favor. I bought fifty dollars of BBQ and she was going to charge me for a container to carry my BBQ sauce in!

Called Billiken’s on a Thursday afternoon needing catering for 100 on Saturday afternoon. The owner, Sharon, could not have been any nicer or more accommodating! The spread was delicious(especially the BBQ!) and Billiken’s did a 5 star job! Kudos to Billiken’s!

To say these are the best ribs I’ve ever had would be a bold statement. But considering I can’t remember ever having anything better, I’d have to say they are either the best — or close. My wife and I stopped here as we were passing through. Our first impression was the friendliness of the staff. I had a half rack of ribs, and my wife had the pulled pork. The ribs were meaty, extremely juicy, and just tender enough to pull easily from the bone, but not fall off when you picked them up. Perfect. I normally like loads of sauce on my barbeque, but even dry, these things were incredible. They had a deep smoky flavor that was only enhanced by adding just a dab of their sweet ‘n spicy sauce. My wife’s pork was equally as smoky, and were also made just a bit better with the same sauce. We live an hour from here, but I will undoubtedly drive all the way back just for the ribs.

Not sure why there are negative reviews on this place. The pulled pork(we bought by the pound for take out) was great. You can tell it was properly slow cooked on a quality smoker. They have authentic Carolina BBQ sauces which are vinegar based and thinner than the thicker, artificial kind most folks in this area are used to. Cole slaw was good, and mac n cheese is simply a mac n cheese sie dish… Staff is great, and place is super clean and friendly. There aren’t many options on the lake and this one is a good one that I hope will stay. So, go visit Billikens and support this fine family run establishment and enjoy yourself some great BBQ.

To feed a family of 6(youngest is 15), we ordered a full rack of ribs and a pound of pulled pork. The ribs were fantastic — meaty and fall-off the bone, cooked to perfection. They use a sweet/spicy sauce on the meat which gives it a little kick but not too big a kick. The pulled pork was done with a dry rub and has phenomenal. We thought it was some of the best BBQ we have eaten. We ordered a pint of Mac & Cheese as a side, it was good but not great. Better than boxed Mac & Cheese, but adding some of their sweet/spicy sauce to the cheese sauce would help make this a better product. Adding it after the fact made it good. They only have 2 sauces, sweet and sweet/spicy. The sauce is not ketchup based and is thin like a Carolina sauce although I don’t think it had a vinegar base. We did takeout, the food tasted fresh — perhaps for lesser experiences the food had sat in the warmers. It is served cafeteria style so I could understand some of the items turning more mushy if sitting on the steamer table after 20 minutes. We went at a busy time which may have helped. The ribs and pulled pork were excellent! We only went once but will definitely be back again.

We were so happy to find this spot early in our week at the lake. The staff and owner were super friendly and the BBQ was some of the best I’ve ever had(and I’ve had a lot), we had a large party and they were able to accommodate us and our separate orders without a hitch. The brisket was incredibly moist(even after reheating in the microwave the next day) and the rest of our party had the pulled pork among other things and raved about all of it. The Mac and cheese was pretty average, good but average. However the baked beans, green beans, and potato salad were all fantastic. They had a nice array of different BBQ sauces that were also very good. It was all soo good that we went back a few days later and got more for dinner and even the pickiest eaters in our group didn’t have a bad thing to say about it and believe me when I say that’s high praise. Another awesome thing about this place is if you’re out boating you can just call up your order and pull up to the dock and they’ll bring your food out to you which is pretty convenient for families spending the day on the water that want some kick ass BBQ. The only thing that was a little confusing is the only option for sweet tea was Lipton Brisk from the soda fountain. I had the unsweet which was good but no home made sweet tea at a BBQ joint is hard to believe. Overall I definitely recommend trying them out and I know next time we vacation at Lake Anna we’ll be back, more than once :-)

Pulled pork-tasty Mac and cheese-the school cafeteria has better. Horrendous Potato salad –generic and unimpressive Beef brisket-incredibly dry Coleslaw — also generic Baked beans-BLAH Out of apples, corn on the cob, and another side. Sorry friends and neighbors. We were all looking forward to a great bbq place and this isn’t it. Time to change it up.

I was so incredibly disappointed(and confused) by this place. It was like lining up in a cafeteria. The food came out of covered steam trays, so obviously not fresh. It was plopped on a styrofoam plate with ice cream scoops. They were incredibly unorganized. If you are a small place, with only a handful of items, I would expect it to be homemade food, however the mac n cheese was pasty, cooked to death, and completely tasteless(probably frozen). The green beans were straight from a can and tasted like mush. I could have looked past this if the meat was good, but it was not. The brisket was tough, dry, and salty. I have never had it come out of what appeared to be a steam bath before and certainly was not expecting it to. The pulled pork was also dry and flavorless. The sauces were ok, but I’m going to assume those were also not homemade. This was like wanting a nice real burger and being served Burger King to me.

Pretty decent spot. I got the platter with ½ chicken and 2 sides(Mac & cheese, potato salad. The chicken had a good smokey flavor to it. Wasn’t dry. Sides were nothing special. Sauces were not my favorite. Wish they had something thicker.

Wow the beef brisket was spot on and dipped in the medium barbecue sauce was heaven. We didn’t sample the ribs as we don’t eat pork, but the chicken was crispy-qued on the outside and juicy on the inside. This was really great Virginia BBQ!!! Right on Lake Anna, the atmosphere was friendly and warm. We were lucky enough to catch the Grand Opening! When we return to Lake Anna I’m definitely going back for the brisker.
