The staff at Davenport is respectful and kind. They always strive to make you happy and will accommodate your requests in anyway possible. My meals have always been delicious and cooked to my specifications. I couldn’t praise them any better… Love the atmosphere!!!

Awful. Awful… I don’t need to say much more but I will. The bread is hard and cold, the burgers cooked to an exact imperfect char, steak sandwich dry and flavorless. The service as dim as the atmosphere, and slow like the long drawn out horns of the train that rumbles behind the old walls of the Davenport… friendliness as stale as the food makes this place a real winner… The expense is the final straw that will keep me from ever going back. Sarcasm aside this place is wonderful Oh sorry, I’m a New Yorker This place. Forget about it.

Very disappointing experience. Attended a lunch with my organization and one member noticed a strip of plastic wrap in her salad. Upon alerting management we were told the plastic wrapper didn’t come from their salads as it has different packaging. Instead of assuming ownership they implied that it couldn’t come from thier restaurant and brought out their lettuce in different packaging. Bottom line we were highly insulted that they did not asume responsibility. Customer Service Epic Fail!

We have been going to this restaurant for over 30 years. We used to go for dinner once a week when we lived in Mineola. They remember us and treat us like regulars even after long absences. We were passing through the area and decided to go in for dinner. The dinning room is great. It has a fireplace, wine racks built into the walls, a moose head and then the ceiling. I’ll leave you hanging about the ceiling. There is always a white board full of specials. Last night I had King Crab legs. Just delicious. We had started with an $ 11.00 appetizer of baby eggplant, mozzarella and tomato. Good thing we shared it. I had a very nice size Malbec for &9.00 which is very reasonable these days. Our waitress, bus girl and male server were all so nice. No one is ever rushed here and although I have had the cappuccino in the past, I was just too full to indulge. Go, you won’t regret it!

Saturday nights are always stressful for dinner. We wanted a nice quiet evening, where we could simply chat and enjoy a good meal with stress free service. At first we booked reservations at West End Café in Carle Place. Immediately upon entering, my wife and I both looked at each other and bolted. The noise level was outrageous! My wife had suggested we go over to Davenport Press, and of course I was hopeful to get in without a wait. And so we did. I had never been there, but my wife had. Frankly it was a pleasure. We got seated immediately and with a smile. The waiter couldn’t have been nicer or better. The food was terrific and plentiful. Prices were reasonable and most of all, we were able to have a quiet and enjoyable evening. We will certainly return to this pleasant and charming hideaway.

Came to grab a quick bite. The sesame encrusted tuna was bad… It was clearly frozen and not sushi grade. The coconut shrimp was ok, the sweet sauce on top helped take away the obvious frozen fishy taste. Didn’t even make it to dinner, don’t think I’ll give it another try, many other options around.

My first time there and I was not disappointed. Management and head waitress were very accommodating and kind. Especially to my kids who had a difficult time sitting still. The food was flavorful and out quickly. Ambiance is class and sophisticated. Prices were comparable to the area. Large enough room to host a variety of parties. Great for a crowd and families. I would return!

Wife and I were here for Valentine’s. This was where we went on our first date 13 years ago. Wife got rose and box of candy as soon as we walked in. First we were seated at a table right by the bar and I mean so close that people nearly bumped into us when they walked by. Mentioned it to our server who immediately moved us to a corner table. We both ordered the lobster bisque which is always great. I had the duck and the missus had the cashew and crab crusted tilapia. Mine came with wild rice and steamed veggies her’s was over white rice. Both very good and served nice and hot. She took half her’s home. For dessert we shared hot apple pie with ice cream and whipped cream which tasted home made because it wasn’t as soft or sugary as stuff from a can. We come here about twice a year and we’re always treated as regulars though we’re surely not. Great place to come.

I have been back here a few times because we are booking my sisters bridal shower here. The food is excellent, the décor is different and the price is right. We made a reservation for Valentines day and dinner was delicious. I thought it was going to be a prefix dinner as advertised in their lobby, but I didn’t realize that that prefix menu was for the weekday only. Regardless, we had a great dinner. We ordered the sesame crusted seared tuna appetizer, which my husband loved(he loves sushi), I got the pistachio crusted red snapper which was a special on the board and it was delicious! My husband ordered the salmon with a mango salsa and he loved that as well. For dessert the cheesecake, which is made there and is yummy! Lino the manager gave out roses to all the women, and the children got boxes of chocolates. We were almost surprised there were hardly any single couples, there were groups or tables of 4 and i am sure we were probably the youngest of all the patrons. I am looking forward to the party here in a few months.

My dad had my grandmother and me meet him here for lunch. It’s one of his favorite restaurants for him and his lawyer friends. The exterior reminded me of an historical home, and the interior was traditionally decorated. When you walk in, it’s a bit dark with dark paneling, but the staff is super friendly, extremely professional, and extremely attentive without being intrusive. We never once had to ask for drink refills, the food was served hot, and the bread was freshly made! I ordered the veal Mediterranean, and the other two meals were: the Davenport burger, and the Angus burger. I can’t speak to the other meals(though my father and grandmother claimed that they were great) — but my food was delicious. The veal was tender and thinly sliced, the mashed potatoes were creamy and had a homemade taste, and the spinach was sautéed to perfection with a little EVOO and bits of fresh garlic tossed in. For dessert, we split the black and white chocolate mousse. There were no words to describe how great the flavor was. The presentation was on point as well. We had this served with hot tea and coffee– the perfect ending to my last day at home with family before heading back to the Carolinas:) I’d definitely recommend this restaurant for formal affairs as well as family gatherings.

I’ve been here a few times in the past, but this weekend’s trip will surely be the reason I rekindle this old flame! I love the décor, and the staff is very sweet. I was immediately intrigued by the pork special, as I cannot help but drool over a perfectly cooked tenderloin(the way mama makes). The portion was generous, but I remained somewhat skeptical until I cut into the beautiful cut of pork before me. After one heavenly bite, I was ecstatic with the tender and juicy dinner that I had only just begun to enjoy. I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for the next time it comes around!

For a semi classy place, it’s not too stuffy. They feed you with a ton of bread, bruschetta, cheeses. Funky decorations. Great selection of food. My friend for his glutinous mall orders four different appetizers each visit and he’s never had a complaint about any of them. I always order the rolatini. Consistently great. I have yet to try anything else because that’s my go to. Last visit we had a medley of desserts which were all rich and filling. If your in Mineola, make a visit. Great place with separate catering rooms too.

I was eating by myself, and felt discriminated against, the owner went to each table and spoke to the guest, but totally ignored me… I won’t be back

I had been here once before with my family but I don’t remember that experience enough to write about it. My most recent trip here included eating lunch at the bar with my dad while we both had a few beers. I got the Davenport Burger, which is a bacon cheeseburger with both American and Swiss cheese. It was also accompanied by lettuce, tomato, and onion. The burger was cooked perfectly just as I had ordered. As for the beer, they have probably the coldest beer in all of Nassau County. Given that we went in on a hot Summer afternoon, we were both looking for something to cool us down, and their beer did just the trick. I got a Blue Moon and he got a Sam Adams. Both were ice cold and mine had an orange slice just as a Blue Moon should. The bartender was very friendly and courteous. I have no complaints and will definitely be back soon.

I discovered this place because I was looking for a convenient dining spot at I would be able to meet my wife and sit down to eat soon after I commuting home to the Mineola LIRR station. For that, you won’t find a better place; it’s literally two minutes from where the train de-boards. The fact is that its convenient location is only one – and certainly not the primary – reason why I now regularly dine there. The food, although not cheap, is delicious, and they’re home to(in my opinion) the best scallops in LI. It has a great dining atmosphere, with a professional and friendly wait staff. And the décor is so varied and unusual that I didn’t notice the table and chairs on the ceiling until an hour after we sat down to eat. The professional wait staff make dining there a pleasure.

Came for a baby shower. Blah. We all know how much fun those are. But the food and service here made the experience bearable. The food was good and the service efficient. Some of the servers looked flustered, although it was 50 women just sitting in one place for hours(ie, not a whole lot of stress-factor there), one or two servers seemed confused. The rest quickly noticed empty drink glasses and refilled them, cleared plates off the tables, and served the food to the right people. I ordered the chicken option as my entrée. But, I had to repeat it to her 3 times because she seemed confused that I said, «soup and chicken».(i.e., soup as the starter). When the table’s orders arrived, she handed me the beef. I told her I ordered the chicken, then she looked at me as if to say«are you sure?». She left and returned and looked at me and I, again, said«chicken.» About one table served later, she finally brought over a chicken. Everyone at my table was already eating. Not a huge deal, but definitely noticed the confusion over my simple chicken order. The chicken was tender and well-flavored. The potatoes were cooked properly — not too hard or soft — and with a yummy flavor to the skin. Definitely seems like a good place to have a low-key party or gathering. The décor was very Montana-cabin-in-1859. Or I would guess anyway — Moose heads, rustic fireplace, etc. Parking is difficult in the area — the place has a tiny parking lot and everything else is meter parking.
