1st Choice Ambulette Co

I have used this service to get my 85 year old aunt to and from the doctors. She live in a garden apartment with 7 steps between her door and the front door of the building. It costs 250 dollars every trip for 2 guys from this company to get her up and down 7 steps which in my opinion is high but the problem came to when their drives weren’t showing up on time and to help get her back in the house. The last trip she will ever from these guy was this past one because it took them over an hour and half to get from Mineola to garden city and then when I asked the driver how long it took him he said 10 minutes. The other problem was that I had to help the driver get her in the house after we got back because the other driver «was on his way» which never showed up so when I asked for a refund for half of what she paid they said we can refund 50 dollars. USERS BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY THEY ARE HORRIBLE.

We used the service on July 30 2015. Mom is in her 90s and just had four major surgeries. We needed to transport her from a nursing facility to a medical procedure at a different location and back. The vehicle had many hundreds of thousands of miles and the suspension was terrible. This vehicle hit every bump really hard. It was a jarring and harsh painful experience. Even without the surgeries the ride would have been bad for a very elderly person. When mom called to complain a rude owner or manager professed that his vehicles passed a NYS safety inspection. The problem is that this vehicle was not a reasonable van to transport patients in and the owners know it’s not.
Major fail all the way around. Steer clear. FIRST CHOICE IS A FAILURE, IT’S OWNERS ARE A FAILURE, IT’S SEEMINGLY MOST IMPORTANT ASSET, IT’S VEHICLES ARE CRAP.
FIRST CHOICE IS YOUR LAST CHOICE.

If you have an elderly family member who utilizes ambulette services to get to and from doctor appointments or home from the hospital do NOT EVER use the company 1^st Choice. They are completely unprofessional and unsafe. The equipment is old and not in working order. Their drivers do not wear name tags and when you ask them their name, they refuse to tell you. When you ask for their supervisors name, they ignore you or say they don’t know. Their on board wheelchairs do not lock in Van #44.
Whoever you choose to book your transportation through, let them know you do not want this company.

This company is the absolute worst. Their vehicles are peices of junk. I wouldn’t allow my dog to ride in one. Just take a close look at the pictures on there website. The drivers are rude and hardly speak english. The vans have a million miles on them and are falling apart. The owner (Abe) is also very rude. And that sparkling review above was written by the other owner Gil. Way to go, giving yourself a 5 star review. Worst experience ever! If you have a loved one who needs assistance call a real ambulette company.
