Hello… I don’t normally(or ever have) write reviews about hotels(or anything for that matter), however the service I received at this place called for a few words. We were passing by on our honeymoon(cross country road trip through the U.S.) and stayed at this motel. Firstly, I have to say that the owner was very nice and welcoming; room was simple and had the basic necessities. The reason we(my wife and I) give this motel a 1 star is due to the ignorant treatment we received from the owner(woman who takes care of visitors — who also happens to be the owner). She offered a laundry service for $ 7.00 plus tax(not sure what tax was about as all she did was use her existing laundry machine from the room she lives in to do visitor’s laundry). We paid the $ 7.00 dollars for laundry(includes washer, dryer, and folding of clothes — according to lady who owned the place). After laundry was complete we received all our clothes still wet; the owner(lady who ran the place) stated that she took the clothes out a few minutes early since she had to wake up at 6:00 am for church and didn’t have time to let the dryer finish(yes, I know that sounds weird, but that’s exactly what happened). Now for the weird part(up to you to see it the way you want); the lady told us she’d give us an extra night for $ 30.00 dollars, however when we told her that we are on a road trip and have reservations in Vegas so we can’t stay an extra night, she got a bit frustrated with us(as if we offended her) and that’s when the weird attitude started(i.e. the laundry situation). In the beginning she offered us a 4:00pm check out time, however after the whole situation about us declining the extra discounted night, she acted a bit crazy(psycho style). Long story short; we are not knocking this motel but do recommend everyone to stay away from this place as it did give us the creeps(which can be a whole other review, however that’s just our opinion so use your best judgement). Good luck with this place if you decide to stay here.

My boyfriend and I were recently driving across the country and googled places to stay near i80 in Iowa. The midtown motel was close, cheap, and had enough of what we needed at midnight to get a few hours sleep before getting back on the road. The owner was very nice and helped us quickly. She walked us to our room, turned on our AC and put a Childrens channel on tv for our son. We unloaded the car when our boy started having an snags attack. We had been there maybe 20 minutes. My boyfriend went to give her back the key, that we had to leave, and she instantly and without question have us a full refund. So so nice. The motel itself is a bit dated, but you’re also paying $ 42 for a clean simple room. We’ve already decided on our next road trip we will definitely go back, if only because the owner was so nice to us.

When traveling across the country along side a blizzard, it’s always nice to have a local make a recommendation when you have to pull off the road suddenly and find a place to wait out the weather… especially when you’re in the middle of nowhere in Iowa. We stopped at the gas station/A&W and were told to go to the Mid-Town Motel, that it was a nice place, and that there’s great food at the bowling Alley right beside it. We got there, were welcomed and given a very large room with 3 beds for $ 73.49(inc tax). Pets welcomed, no extra pet fee. We got up to our room and though it was dated, it was a nice place to bunker down for the night. TV and fridge in the room, 2 larger beds and 1 small bed. Our only issue was that the AC/Heating unit did not provide heat but the owner gave us a space heater and it quickly warmed up the room and solved the problem. The food at the bowling alley(really basically in the same building distance wise) was actually pretty fantastic. My dad had a pizza, I had the chicken cordon bleu, and my mother had a burger and fries. We were all quite satisfied. My father said that while he was waiting, the entire town basically came in to get dinner and he spoke to the owner and thought it was a great place.
