Williams Sonoma is kind of my personal Danger Zone. I’m not a spectacular cook or anything, but every time I come in here I have this urge to start buying up copper lined saucepans, Wusthof knives and all the Le Creuset stockpots. I’ve never made stock. I’ll probably never make stock. But I MUSTHAVE the fancy pans… Anyway, if you need a pan, pot, gadget, gizmo or kitchen appliance Williams Sonoma probably has it. They’ve got $ 1000 coffee machines and $ 3 lime juicers. There are cookbooks, overpriced condiments and Kitchenaid mixers(yet another item I have no use for but covet anyway). So you can buy a lot of this stuff at Macy’s but the staff at Williams Sonoma is just so nice & helpful. They walked me through a recent wedding purchase and then gift wrapped it for free which was a nice touch. They’re always cooking up something to sample so the store smells amazing & they host free classes regularly.

I don’t love that I love this place, but I totally love this place. I pretty much just go to drool over the amazing knives, the juicers, the Kitchen-Aides, the gadgetry, the fancy pants spices and marinades… oh dear god, I could go on. Sometimes things are worth splurging on. I was prepped to throw down for some really great knives, but my mom beat me to the punch. Yay Christmas! I don’t find myself in the mall often, but when I do, I definitely make it a point to hit up WS. So many gadgets, so much good kitchen stuff, so much money I don’t have.

Up until this week I’ve always been a Williams-Sonoma window shopper or at most, bought small items there. This last Saturday I went in to take the leap and purchase a Nespresso machine. I walked in and went right to the machines. The sales woman greeted me within 2 minutes of me being over there. She told me about the differences between the machines, how nespresso works, etc. She then told me that a few of the machines were on sale for $ 180 but it was just the steel blue and brighter blue colors. I’ll put steel blue in my kitchen if it’s going to save me $ 70! She then took me over to have a sample of the nespresso product(I’ve had it before, but was nice to see how this specific model worked). I wish I could remember the sales persons name because she wasn’t pushy, just very nice and helpful. Anyhow, I took the machine home and set it up that night. ITLEAKED! I was so sad, my new espresso machine was already malfunctioning so I boxed it back up. On Monday, I went back to Williams-Sonoma. I already decided that I wanted to move up to the Citiz model with the included milk frother. Unfortunately, Williams-Sonoma doesn’t carry that one. This time a male was assisting me. He was very understanding of the problems with the machine, apologized a few times and refunded my money, no questions asked. In the end, while I didn’t end up making my first big Williams-Sonoma purchase, the experiences I had there will leave me with no hesitation to recommend them and make future purchases.

This is a must stop for any foodie/home cook. All kinds of stuff from bottled sauces to ice cream makers! The aisles can be a little tight, but they are wheelchair accessible. Today I wanted to buy a grill pan, but the one’s I saw were $ 125…way out of my price range. A sales person told me about a model that they had on clearance for 39. needless to say, she made a sale. Excellent customer service.
