Westown Farmer’s Market

Holy shit! Get yourself to this farmer’s market people! Lopez sells 6 tamales for $ 7 (or $ 1.75 each if you don’t want to bulk up.) What more do I have to say? Nothing. But I will!
Good atmosphere– a mix of young and old, office workers and families. Kids running around enjoying the music.
Music! A variety of solo performers throughout the summer for a good hanging out vibe.
Food! A good assortment of food vendors. A few food trucks as well as a Cousin’s cart and niche vendors. You’ll have no trouble finding a nice lunch.
Farmers! There are plenty of vendors on two edges of the square. I never have a problem finding what I want and the prices are always good. A great place to stock up on local stuff mid-​week.
Additionally, you’ll find flower vendors (which are quite popular), the Cowboy Kettle Corn guy (yee-​haw!), and a several craft vendors. Check it out!
(Oh, and yes there is bike parking contrary to another review. Just look across the street in front of the WE Energies building.)

I always get excited on Farmer’s Market day, and this one is pretty spectacular! The location is perfection. Not too big, so the venders are spaced out and things get lost. Also, not too small, where everything gets all crampy and you keep bumping into people.
Vendors! There are between 5 – 10 solid food trucks and stands for you to snag a delicious meal at. Usually including: Soup Market, Streetza Pizza, Bun Me, Globaco Global Taco, Jake’s and a few others that rotate.
Veggies and flowers galore! *And on the cheap too, so even better! I just scored some really great beets, butternut squash, cilantro, and baby bok choy. They have a wide range of vegetable offerings!
If you like farmer’s markets, I have no doubt that this one will not disappoint!

After two years of working downtown, I finally visited the Westown Farmer’s Market and I was impressed!
It’s not a large farmer’s market, but you can get your weekly dose of all the produce that is in season. When your weekends are as busy as mine, you begin to appreciate a mid-​week/​midday farmer’s market. There are also food carts serving up lunch so you can shop, eat and hang out in the park.
As another Unilocaler mentioned, parking and traffic around here is a pain. Ride your bike or walk! Unfortunately bike parking is not available so that doesn’t help the issue.

Scored tons of veggies today and three perennials to plant for the fall since my mums died. I wish there were more food options; however I almost always eat at Lopez Bakery & Restaurant. I love that I can walk (or drive if the hubby and I make a date) to the market for fresh food. So many different fresh vegetable options, and I love the kettle corn. Downtown workers: you are missing out if you have not stopped here yet!

Cute farmer’s market that is open on Wednesday and when we stopped in at lunch town, it was hopping. Food trucks, food stands, tents full of fresh vegetables and fruits, a florist making bouquets to order and even a live band on the center gazebo stage.
I had a clear plastic container of nachos loaded with chicken and sour cream and tomatoes and onions and even a couple jalapenos. Yummy. For dessert, I went with the fresh-​made Nutella crêpe but that was a little disappointing actually. A small spread of Nutella and then a big squeeze of chocolate sauce. The big handful of slivered almonds was good though.
Really enjoyed the opportunity to get outside, get some fresh air and some sunshine. Not much for seating though unless you want grass stains on your butt.

This is a convenient stop for those who work downtown but isn’t if you plan to drive as there is very limited parking.
I generally like what they have to offer. a great lineup of musicians, coffee, various veggies, and great food tents and trucks.
I almost think that the food tents are what this market is mostly about. they usually have the longest lines, and everything looks quite delicious (West Allis Cheese Mart, Jake’s Deli, The Soup Market and more…).

Being new to Westown, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Arriving at the park I was pleased to see food trucks, Jake’s Deli, fresh produce, West Allis Cheese Mart, live music and much more! The park was hopping, and I will be back many times.
I made off with a piece of cheese pizza, garlic bread, a coke and some fresh strawberries.

The nice thing about this place is that it is within walking distance of my office, so I can enjoy an excuse to escape into the neighborhood… The poor planning bit is that they sell flats of flowers and other plants – and from what I can tell, the majority of the visitors are only here on lunch break. However, I’ve been two Wednesdays in a row now, and gotten a lovely combo plate from what I thought was the defunct Aladdin’s restaurant, as well as fresh strawberries I can take home with me. Zeidler park is relatively small (one square city block), but, at least according to the press, there are over 50 vendors on hand (and that seems about right from what I’ve experienced). You have the standard wide array of jewelers, handicrafters, and food vendors – it just makes me wish I didn’t carpool on Wednesdays so I could actually bring home some of the more interesting things on display (I saw some BEAUTIFUL rose bushes on display today)… so there’s my minus-​star: disappointed sour grapes on my side.
