Starbucks

This Starbucks is close to my house so it is convenient, but the last few times I have been here, our frappucinos have been very bitter… so different from the other locations. I’ve been taking a longer trip just to get a better tasting coffee.

I wasn’t too impressed with the customer service here. I was asked what I wanted, and when I was curious about a mixture of some things the barista was very rude. I don’t know if it is a normal occurrence for that to happen but it set me the wrong way. Coffee was good, and I liked the atmosphere of the place though. ³⁄₅

This location is conveniently located right down the street from where I live. Although it is a stone’s throw away from other (probably more superb) café options, I choose to go because (like all other Starbucks locations) I can pay on my phone using my Starbucks card and the free drip coffee as long as you are sitting in the store. I love that I can pay for a tall coffee and get it re-​filled as many times as I want– for free!
But they lose stars because of their mediocre food selection, wobbly tables, and terrible door placement. The handicap accessible entrance is great but whenever it opens, you get a gust of cold winter air that just chills you to the bone. I have sat at this location before and not taken my coat off! Brrrrr!

I just moved from the Ann Arbor area and I had pretty much sworn off Starbucks altogether. Every time I went in my order was messed up in some way and the staff was never helpful.
This Starbucks is too close to my apartment to ignore. The staff is amazing. I asked for a sandwich and when they went to look for it they were out, so instead they gave me a free sandwich and a coupon for a free drink the next time I came in. I bought a bag of beans for my french press and this is the only time I’ve ever brewed a cup that did not have an absurd amount of grounds in it. So happy.

Starbucks. Ubiquitous because they are everywhere. And they are consistent overall in service and quality. I prefer the local brands like Anodyne and Colectivo so much more. But there are a few reasons I frequent this chain, especially this store that just renovated and expanded:
1. Rewards program. Starbucks has this über-​cool app that makes me go for the gold to earn free joe. I can load money into it and pay at the push of a barcode scanner. While Colectivo’s card is cool I haven’t registered it yet even though I have thousands of points. To my knowledge Anodyne’s got nada. Can you say Gamification?
2. Service. You have to hire good people to reign over a coffee bar, and Starbucks trumps all. I bet their employee benefits and education programs are a draw. Hey I’m always trying to better myself so I appreciate surrounding myself with like-​minded individuals.
3. Consistency. It’s the hallmark of a good chain, whether corporate-​owned or franchised. You should get the taste you remember, which always happens here. It may not be exceptional, but it’s always what I remember. What’s not to like?

Never a problem here. The place is clean and it’s on a corner… great for people watching.

Definitely not among my favorites in the chain variety. The staff is the same, standard Starbucks-​capable group and plenty friendly, but the access to this place, if you’re not on foot or biking, is terrible. In the year I lived on Brady, I came to appreciate it’s proximity to my house when I was a pedestrian… but I despised the people who would hit their flashers and park illegally on the corner to run in to grab a coffee in the morning traffic.
The staff is great and the place is a standard-​Starbucks organized area. Nothing to set them apart from any others, but they are noticeably different from a few of the privately owned Brady St institutions that I’d recommend, such as Brewed and Rochambo.

I know it’s cool to hate on Starbucks and rave about Alterra/​Colectivo but I prefer Starbucks’ coffee. Colectivo’s coffee always tastes burnt to me and their staff is usually so smug and condescending that I don’t enjoy going there.
This Starbucks, like the one at Red Arrow Park, is great. The staff is friendly, they’re fast, and the premise is always clean. You can get your coffee (or other drinks) the way you like it without a lecture about how you’re not drinking a macchiato the «real way» or other such nonsense.
The food is okay. Nothing special (Colectivo wins in this department).
The new renovation here has really created a nice large well-​lit space for working, chatting, and enjoying your beverage.

The smallest Starbucks, like ever. But the tables outside are awesome and the service is great.

Starbucks, u win. I can’t stop drinking ur skinny peppermint mochas or your Christmas blend, and honestly, customer service at this location has improved markably since I moved into the neighborhood. 4 stars!

I love Starbucks. I live close by, so this one is very convenient. However, it is so tiny that I can never find anywhere to sit! They also don’t have a microwave oven, so they can’t heat any food (paninis, etc.). So, it’s great for grab and go, but don’t expect to be able to stay for a while. Alterra is better to study or meet a friend for coffee because its location is so much larger.

Look Man, I come here so much it is scandalous.
I always order a venti iced coffee with milk, and they always make it perfect. Starbucks has the best iced coffee. Don’t believe me? Try Alterra, their ish is NASTY and they give you a dirty look if you dare to be so irresponsible as to ask for sugar in it…
Anyways, Starbux is my heatwave stop, my jobhunt spot, and my iced coffee addiction supplier.
It’s small, and still I always find a spot. I spend four to five hours here with my laptop out and a venti in my hand and no one cares. I am a customer and that is respected. The staff are all super friendly, genuine, and just all around good at what they do.
So… THERE!

This is becoming a habit for me to visit because I sometimes have to catch buses that make me too early for work and I need a place to waste some time. It is tiny, but has everything you expect at Starbucks. Most people come here to grab and run, or to sit outside with their dog, or to sit inside and read or surf the web or chat with someone. They have never made a mistake on my order, and so far I’ve always been able to grab one of the few tables to sit and do my crossword while sipping my beverage of choice. Once in a while they’re a little too busy to do a quick lobby clean, but I’m usually here in the morning so it doesn’t surprise me (morning caffeine crowd); it’s never a terrible mess, just some crumbs here, cinnamon spill there, nothing truly dirty that a napkin cannot quickly remedy.
My favorite beverages (all made with soy milk and no whip… and decaf now that I’m pregnant .:withdrawal:.): caramel frap, iced caramel latte, chai frap, cinnamon dolce latte, iced or hot chai with a little cinnamon dolce, raspberry frap, strawberry with hazelnut frap (tastes like Fruity Pebbles!), green tea frap.
Suggestion (especially if you buy too much from Starbucks like I do): load and register a gift card for yourself, or register a gift card if someone gives you one. If you use this to pay for your drinks, you get free stuff like flavor shots and soy milk upgrades. Birthday drinks too! If you want to show just how addicted you are, buy enough drinks to earn the gold card (free drinks every 15 stars, woot!).

I tend to go to this Starbucks because it is the closest one to my house, and well, I just like Starbucks coffee over Alterra. Overall I have had good experiences here, but sometimes the employees are less than nice and seem annoyed that you are making a purchase. I only drink decaf, and on many occasions they do not have it brewed (even in the morning) so sometimes I have to wait.
I will say that this location is the best for people watching, as many of the local weirdos flock to hang out here. This location isn’t all bad, in fact I will probably be heading there soon. I just wish the people who work there would sharpen up their people skills.

With all of the great coffee places in Milwaukee serving local brands (alterra) WHY would you go here. There isn’t a drive through even, so don’t say convenience. It is just because you are scared i assume… but worry not! Your better options are less than 5 blocks in three directions.
