I loved the Relleno de malanga stuffed with bacalao güisao. I’ve been there several times and really Like their mofongo with shrimp and the Cuban style pastelillo. I grew up in chicago and live my frituras, this is the real deal.

I recently relocated from Chicago and I have been looking for some good authentic Puerto Rican food. I’m a tad bit particular when it comes to my food, which is why I called ahead and asked if they had chicken jibaritos. The woman who answered the phone put the chef on the phone which I thought was fantastic! He informed me that they do indeed have chicken jibaritos & with that I placed my order. I was a bit taken aback as they did not have mixtas & the jibarito came with french fries so I had to order my arroz con guandules seperate, but that was ok because I was sure to get my fix! When I arrived to pick it up, I had to wait a bit which was fine, as I’ve never been in a Puerto Rican restaurant that I did not have to wait for my food. They chef came out and talked with me and I informed him that I had just relocated and I was looking for some good food. He assured me that I would not be disappointed. When I arrived back at work and opened my food, I was a sad to see there wasn’t any ajo on my sandwich. I was really sad when I realized they put cheese on there when I specifically said they could leave it off. No biggie, don’t judge a book by it’s cover right?!? Well, I should have… my sandwich was lacking some serious flavor! It was pretty, but there was no seasoning whatsoever. Even worse, was my rice as it tasted like boil in the bag rice that the guandules and sazon packet had added to it once it was done cooking. I’m sad to say that I will not be returning nor would I recommend Sofritos Vega to anyone. This is not a representation of authentic Puerto Rican cuisine at all. The only upside it the staff were very pleasant and welcoming which was very re
