Update: During a recent re-visit to RuYi, this time they served the Jasmine Rice and you can now order from the Sushi menu. However, the RuYi Sampler Platter was scaled down by dropping the pot stickers from 3 to 1! Also, a smaller portion of Edamame.

Service and drinks were great. Would not go back for the sushi. Three of the four people in our party felt sick after consuming the sushi — may reflect in freshness and/or quality of ingredients. May be back to try the regular menu — I wish I had ordered off of it in the first place!

I like sushi very much but it’s not worth the money to come here. Serverly overpriced for what you get. Will only come if someone else’s paying. I’ll just stick to the other side of RuYi for dinner.

Wanted to try it this restaurant because of the sushi they recently added to the menu. Don’t waste your money or a special trip just for the sushi. Pretty overpriced for the lack of quality and flavor in the sushi. Like other reviews stated, you have to decide upfront if you would like sushi or the regular menu because you can’t have both. Which was fine because we both knew we wanted sushi. However I could see why this would be a problem for other guests or large parties. Service subpar, sushi took 45+ minutes to come out after ordering. Ordered 3 roles. Included two special rolls(ruyi & Fire keepers) and 1 basic spicy tuna roles. Also ordered a spicy Bloody Mary which was Ok not my favorite the but I did like the toppings included(shrimp, beef stick etc) When the sushi arrived the avocado had a lot of brown on it. Don’t quite understand why they wouldn’t use fresh avocado. The rolls were small especially for the special rolls that were almost $ 20 a roll. Lastly, our food was served by someone other than our waitress and our waitress didn’t come back for the long time. Had to hunt her down to get soy sauce since the bottle was completely empty at the table. If you want good sushi don’t waste your time here.

If you’re looking for watered down wine and average service, then by all means, check it out! I ordered a glass of the house Cabernet. They went to the back and poured it for me. I would have to say that it seemed as though the wine was combined with water. I have never tasted a wine like this before and was highly disappointed. Stick with a beer from the bottle if you order a drink. We also ordered the specialty drink, which was served to us in styrofoam/plastic glasses. I’ve never been served a drink in a glass like that at any restaurant. So that was strange. However, the drink was tasty. We added a bottle of cold Sake. This came to us at room temperature, so we had to ask for ice. RuYi has been advertising their sushi lately but what they don’t tell you when you go in is that you can only order it on one side of the restaurant… as if there is this invisible line drawn that the sushi can’t pass. We ordered the Crab Rangoon, which was your standard crab rangoon. Nothing special about it. We also got the Tempura Vegetables which were decent. The next appetizer we ordered were the Spring Rolls, which I thought were great. Crispy on the outside and not overly greasy tasting. For our main dishes we got the Singapore Noodles, which were all right, nothing special. We also got the Fried Rice, which was great. The Bulgogi was a decent dish as well, except the portion size was small. Overall the experience and drinks were terrible at RuYi. I don’t think I’ll go back and wouldn’t recommend this place to friends.

I know thy have just opened the Sushi Bar recently and there are a few kinks to work out. It doesn’t open til 4pM. That’s a problem for me since I usually go ti RuYi for lunch. Secondly, the prices are double what I pay at my usual sushi bar. My hubs, a non-sushi eater couldn’t order off the regular Ruyi menu. He was stuck with chicken Katsu which was very bland and dry. I wanted sashimi and the cheapest thing I could get was $ 22.00. Good but expensive! The maki rolls were expensive also at upwards of $ 15.00. The indide is beautiful with high ceilings and decorations. I think they are missing the general Poto audience with price.

This review is for the Sushi Restaurant. I was really impressed with the service and how nicely the place is decorated. We ordered miso soup, 5 rolls and a passion cake. It’s was more expensive than other sushi restaurants that we have gone too, but it was really fresh and less fillers. I could actually see the meats inside the rolls. Would I make this place my regular sushi place, probably not. I still preferred Rice and Roll on Farwell on the Eastside near Comet Café. It’s family owned(I like supporting family owned business) and they have special pricing on Monday and Tuesday at 4:30 — 5:30pm. Overall the bill came to $ 108 +20% tip.

I love the fresh sushi bar added! Nicely updated décor and menu. I had lettuce wraps, spicy crab and a mango margarita, all very delicious. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive.

RuYi is located inside Potawatami Hotel & Casino, but momentarily you are able to escape the hustle and bustle of the casino for a great dining experience. The Sushi Bar is a new addition to the restaurant(opened in very early 2016) and all of the meat is supposed to be 36 hours from sea to sushi. We tried 3 rolls and each one was great! It was a fun experience to sit up at the sushi bar and watch the chefs cook! Pop in for a couple rolls and hands of black jack. They serve food until close!

This review is limited to only Peking duck. We ordered a whole peking duck. It was ready in about 20 mins; I assume they reheated but it was not warm. Obviously, it would take longer than 20 mins to make peking duck. I called them ahead of time — to see if they would get the peking duck going — assuming that they need an hour or more. Interestingly, they said they don’t take phone orders, even though I offered to give my credit card number. The lady says«How do we know it is your credit card»? This kind of policy is new to me and seemed rather unusual. Anyway, the duck: It was ok. Not bad and not great. If the duck was cooked and stored overnight or longer, the meat would have had a bad taste. The meat itself was not tasting bad. It was acceptable. Hence 3 stars. Peking duck is served with thinly julienned green onions and carrots. There was no such accompaniment. They brought rice over. We requested the tortilla(not sure what the chinese version is called) and that took about 10 mins to arrive. Over all, it was a 3 star experience. It is quite possible that some of their other dishes are superior. In the past, I had once tried to go to Ruyi and immediately walked out — because of the strong smoke. Today, it was bad but not bad enough to make me leave.

This was a pleasant solace from the manic casino floor. We sat in the corner, right next to the evil gong that mocked me our entire stay, urging me to strike it, risking expulsion. We opted for apps. Small plate stylee! The high points were the pork bao, which I’ve yet to have a bad version of, and the fresh spring rolls. Everything else was pretty good, and the trio or so of sauces made average items that much better. Edamame spilled over the top, iced the experience! Plus, a few crisp Asian beers later, and it was time to head back to the beep beep, ding beep beep, beep ding ding, blurp deep darmp! I should’ve hit that gong.

RIP Tochi– you’ve been replaced. If you can handle the smoking in the casino– RuYi is a must try. Excellent variety of noodle dishes, including ramen. Over the top steamed buns. Light, puffy, spongy with a savory light filling. If you can’t handle the smoke, pop in for a quick drink and order to go.

We decided to try this restaurant since we were pressed for time and it was in the hotel. Great looking place and we were seated promptly. So far so good. The wait staff was fast and friendly. We ordered the appetizer sampler. Was not bad, pretty average. I tried the Bulgogi, marinated boneless beef short ribs. These were chewy little chunks of meat, tasted mostly like soy sauce. Wifey tried the Pad Thai, one of her favorite dishes. When they put hers on the table, we both lost our appetites. The dish looked horrible and smelled worse. We paid and left. Only reason for 2 stars is our servers were sympathetic and agreed with us. Would not recommend.

Very expensive and average is the main point of this. Got 2 cocktails that were solid. But all the food was below average at best. Pics are attached and while they look pretty the taste was very plain. For dropping $ 75 for two meals and two drinks i expect GREAT food and this was the definition of average.

Let me start out by saying that I am not a huge fan of Potawatomi as a casino. With that being said, I do have to give them credit for having some very good dining establishments. Ru Yi is an amazing Asian restaurant that features Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai food. The service is very good, and so is the food. My absolute favorite meal here is the shrimp fried rice. Not only do you get a decent amount of shrimp in there, but they are very generous with the portion that they give you. I have also tried the General Tso’s Chicken. It had a little kick to it, but is very good. I definitely recommend the Crab Rangoon as an appetizer. If you are a fan of sake, Ru Yi has a nice selection of sake for you to choose from. You have the choice of having your sake warm or cold(I personally like my sake warm). There are also other drink options available. On a side note, I appreciate the fact that the restaurant is smoke free. With as smoky as the casino is, it’s nice to have a smoke free place to go to there.

Well, well, something of a mixed bag here. The décor and ambiance are nice; the staff is pleasant and the service good. The food, while good, confused me a tad. I had an excellent wonton soup and decided on the bulgogi over the seafood udon on the recommendation of the server. I don’t know where they got the idea that what I was served was bulgogi, but I can certainly attest that it bore only a passing resemblance to the substance and taste of the bulgogi I have been served countless times in Seoul or even in US Korean restaurants. It was much, much closer to Mongolian Beef, although not nearly as tasty as that from, say, P. F. Chang’s. I’d give this place another try, but caveat emptor.

I like the space here; it is a respite/an oasis away from the casino action… without leaving the casino floor. First time here today, for lunch. I sat at the bar/counter, facing the open kitchen. I noticed they have a small(full) bar set up here and two TV’s. Might be a cool place just to get off the casino floor for a break and a cocktail. I ordered(chicken) Pad Tai, spicy, «please.» On arrival, I immediately noticed that two of the main ingredients were completely missing from the plate; i.e., bean sprouts and green onions. I said something and they took it away, poste haste. On the next try, I actually saw a couple of shards of green onion and a bit of bean sprout. I was disappointed. Having said that, I did enjoy the dish and ate most of it, though there was little or no «spicy» in the plate, whatsoever. I asked for some chili paste; a common condiment at any Chinese restaurant. I was informed they actually don’t have Chinese chili paste, but offered me a small plastic«cup-let» of Siracha sauce, which I accepted. I’ll be back to try something else. Might even come back here just to chill out between video poker and craps come-outs.

Tried the Thai duck and noodle salad. It was pretty great. A small bed of iceberg lettuce was topped with vermicelli rice noodles, a mound of finely chopped/shredded roast duck mix with red onions, cilantro, cukes and light hoisin dressing, all topped with crispy fried duck skin. The flavors were spot on. If you’re familiar with Vietnamese bun, it’s very similar to this and you’ll love it. The copious amounts of herbs make it. Some things could have been better though: a lettuce other than iceberg, colder noodles(they were obviously freshly cooked and not allowed to cool thoroughly), and larger pieces of duck. The crispy duck skin that wasn’t listed on the menu made up for any shortcomings though! Will definitely be craving this salad for the rest of the summer.
