DANGER! DANGER! BEWARE! DONOTDOBUSINESS with Preferred Flooring Company or Don Luke unless you don’t mind getting RIPPEDOFF or having your home left in disarray because Don Luke(owner of Preferred Flooring Company) is a fly-by-night CONARTIST! If you hire this company, be prepared for poor workmanship, bait-and-switch tactics, having your home damaged, being solicited to continually advance cash before work is done, cheap material substitutes, and Don Luke disappearing with your money without doing the job. On hiring Preferred Flooring Company, I gave Don Luke a down payment of $ 500.00 on a flooring job quoted at $ 1,745.00 with a balance of $ 1,245.00 due on completion of the job. But the day before the job started, he needed me to advance him an additional $ 160.00 for 160 pounds of cement based floor leveler that I had to buy and pick up for him at Home Depot. When his installer showed up 3 hours late the next day, he improperly mixed the leveler with a stick instead of using a heavy duty drill with a stir paddle, which after drying like cement had to be busted up and discarded because it was thick, clumpy and not level. But before busting it up, they tried to grind it level with a belt sander, which created a thick dust cloud that penetrated every crack and cranny of my beautiful home and covered everything in it from furniture to electronic equipment. The dust was so thick, you could not breathe or see your hand in front of your face. Having to open doors and windows during bitter cold weather to get fresh air in the house because of the thick dust cloud, I dread seeing what my next heating bill is going to be. I also had to replace my furnace filter the next day, which costs me an additional $ 40.00 and it is also going to cost me about $ 500.00 to have my furnace and all the duct work cleaned(not to mention what it is going to take to clean the rest of my house). After making a total mess of my house in just a few hours, Don Luke said he was having a problem getting the materials from his distributor and wanted me to advance him an additional $ 2,500.00 to get the materials from a competitor at a much higher price, which was ultimately going to cost me nearly triple what I was quoted; as a job quoted at $ 1,745.00 was now going to cost me over $ 4,500.00 because the $ 2,500.00 advance he requested did not cover the labor portion of the job and I still have to pay for the duct work cleaning etc., etc., etc. When I refused to advance him the money, he walked off the job telling me he would return in the morning, but did not return the next day. When I finally managed to contact him by phone and asked what was going on, he stated«I’m done with that job because I’m not making enough profit». Apparently, it is a good thing I did not advance him the $ 2,500.00, as my guess is that he was going to consider that money«his profit» and then disappear. He has never been seen or heard from since. Further, he has not returned my down payment totaling $ 660.00 and my house is still a mess. I have since learned Preferred Flooring Company does not have an office or warehouse and uses a phony address on its business card. Yet Mr. Luke shows up in a van and when asked about his business states he has an office and warehouse on the East Side, then presents his business card with the phony address. In not actually having an office or warehouse, it appears Preferred Flooring Company operates out of a van with a cell phone and does not maintain any inventory whatsoever. When I tried to track him down, I discovered the address he uses(5441 E. Ogden Avenue, Suite #700, Milwaukee, WI53202) is to a UPS store on Milwaukee’s Lower East Side. When I checked another address he uses(2136 N Prospect Ave., Milwaukee, WI53202), I discovered it is to a storage facility where they told me he DOESNOTRENTSPACETHERE. P. S. Preferred Flooring does not accept credit cards. I assume that is because consumers would have a way to get their money refunded. In the event you pay by check, he does not start the job until the check clears the bank, which prevents you from putting a stop-payment on it. Don Luke and Preferred Flooring Company are totally«bottom-of-the-barrel-scammers», so run! Run far away and never look back! I only wish I had found the reviews on this website before contacting this company!

This guy is something else! I purchased a living social deal for $ 199 towards $ 400 of work with Don/Preferred Flooring, for my business. At first, he was always running late(30+ min) for consults, then when we had the install scheduled he called and cancelled 12 hrs before with a ridiculous story. I rescheduled and closed my business a second time, where he then cancelled with a even more obnoxious excuse, this time only 3 hrs before. DONOTUSETHISGUY! He is undependable and unprofessional, and just a liar.

Stay away from this crook. We paid him upfront for shipping and never received our carpet. At first he said our carpet wasordered and on it’s way. After a while he stopped answering our phone calls and emails.
