I felt as though I was in Ireland. The feel of the place is authentic. Friendly service and the best corned beef I’ve ever had.

A one-of-a-kind experience for all ages. This Irish restaurant and b&b is a hidden downtown gem. We loved the character inside and out, and age variety of the patrons — clearly good eats at affordable prices have no demographic boundaries. Surprised(though, not really) the corned beef hash was atypical from that served elsewhere. Much more authentic and probably real corned beef. If you like the trash hash I’d skip it here. Root soup was a pleasant surprise for the our palettes, and we gawked over the signature cover on top. The Reuben roll appetizer blows Moes’ out of town. Do it, no matter the time. Also, try to get a seat by the cozy fire or lining the street.

As a disclaimer, I originally heard of County Clare years ago while in the ACTUAL County Clare, Ireland, with the owner on one of the trips that he offers. Haven’t seen him since, but I’ve always wanted to check out this place, so one day, I did. You know how you have Guinness, and it’s OK, but then you go to Ireland, have real Irish Guinness, and realize how it was meant to taste? That’s this place. You go to Irish pubs, and they’re OK, but then you come to County Clare, and you realize how are Irish pub is supposed to be. County Clare is much, much, much better than other Irish pubs in town. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is very cozy. Service is very friendly, much like the Irish themselves. Seriously, the Irish are just wonderful people, and everyone ought to visit the country. But County Clare is a good substitute since I can’t afford the $ 1500 and time off work.(However, if you can, his trips are legitimately fantastic, and yes, that castle is awesome!) I’ll be back, most definitely. Sláinte!

Admittedly I am a corned beef snob, maybe even an addict, which is why I was so hyped up to try the corned beef here on recommendation of countless friends and Internet reviewers alike. I was SUPER disappointed. The meat was lukewarm at best, and the accompanying veggies were bland and unimpressive. Additionally, the wait was unusually long for how empty the place was. Probably about a half an hour for dishes to come out. If I wasn’t such a fan of corned beef, the dish probably would have earned them at least 3 stars, but I am and really I’ve had much better at so many other places. Disappointed and probably won’t be back.

I was disappointed in County Claire. Both my and a friend’s eggs bennies were burnt and clearly their cook tried to hide it. They bought me a drink to make up for it which was nice. The rest of my party liked their food. They have real potatoes(not frozen from a bag) so that was a plus. They did a good job with our large group overall, there is just no excuse for burnt… ever.

A friendly location, great décor. I only had beer, but the food seemed great. The pub itself is not overly large. But it slowly picked up and by 1AM it was jumping quite great. Definitely worth checking out, and worth being patient. Only do not inquire where the leprechauns are, some Irish have no sense of humor.

Came in on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn’t that packed, but everything took forever! I couldn’t understand why the hostess was doing all the servers’ work. The food was good and the drinks were great but the service was less than spectac.

An excellent spot for good Irish food, snacks, and drinks. Good selection of all. The Irish food is legit, and they have many Irish beers on tap. Jovial atmosphere, very inviting, good for family and friends alike. A little expensive, but not excessively so. Professional and friendly wait staff. Ordered a Bloody Mary based on previous Unilocal reviews, and it was excellent.

I’m from Dublin and live in Milwaukee. The County Clare is the real deal. The food is great and it quite refreshing to find a legit Irish pub that takes pride in what they do in a world with so many pretenders. I don’t get here enough.

Love love love this place. It’s so cozy that it feels like just like coming home– with great comfort foods to boot. I can’t knock a place that makes a killer shepherds pie and keeps Guinness on tap. Really enjoy the outside seating in the summer. Doesn’t get the same crowds some of the more trafficked locales draw, which makes it that much more pleasant for groups actually hoping to have a conversation.

Came in here on Friday for drinks with a friend. Its so cozy! the atmosphere is great for a chill night. Between the fire place and the what I’m calling Irish jam band(group of seemingly random people sitting at a table playing different instruments and coming & going at will) this was perfect for a casual drink. I didn’t eat food so I can’t speak for that but the drinks were delicious! I had a hot toddy which was great. My friend got a server recommended off the menu hot chocolate drink. It came with whip cream and a mini cookie. It was adorable and delicious! They have a wide selection of beer cocktails which I want to come back and try. We came in at 9pm so there was plenty of tables but i’m told they usually have a wait during dinner hours. Service was great. Overall great experience. Will be back!

County Clare is a perfectly A-OK slice of the Irish life, tucked into a relatively quiet Astor Street on the east side. It’s located next to one of my favorite bars in the city, Monica’s. Tons of wonderful beer and stellar service from all parties from the moment you walk in the door. Tops: –The pot roast(4 stars) is phenomenal. –Service is always on point — very professional, subdued yet friendly. –You can have a true black and tan here and know it will be made properly! Parking is a hot commodity on the east side, but with not much else around this area, it’s not tough to find a spot 2 – 3 blocks away.

Descriptive phrase: cozy Irish pub/hotel. County Clare Irish Pub is a treasure in residential East Town, with unique hotel rooms, great Irish/American food, and a traditional pub atmosphere. Besides a respectable Irish whiskey selection, and a comfortable patio to sip on, their Corned Beef Hash($ 10.95) was the best I’ve ever had. To be honest, they don’t miss the mark on much. It’s a wonderful spot to spend time near the lake in Milwaukee.

If I never eat at another Irish-food restaurant aside from County Claire again, I would die happy knowing that I had tasted the best Irish Pub in Milwaukee. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. The place wasn’t packed, but not dead, either. Boyfriend & I ordered the cheese plate, the house fries with the curry gravy, the meatloaf and the cottage pot pie. It was such a delightful meal, rich with many flavors. I was pleasantly surprised at the arrangements of cheeses they provided. It was a good variety, and I would return for that plate alone. The fries & curry gravy were freaking phenomenal. Again, highly recommended. I’m not huge on meat, so I got the veggie version of the cottage pie. Extremely filling and flavorful with rooted veggies. I couldn’t finish it alone and took it to go. The service was excellent. I actually feel bad that I can’t remember the young woman’s name. But she was great, attentive and made sure we had a good time. Thanks!

Ask for Sarah! She’s the best. In two days, the boyfriend and I had breakfast here Saturday and Sunday mornings(included with our stay) and dinner once(would have eaten there again Saturday night but we were at Summerfest!) He had the Friday fish fry(yum) and I had the salmon, which included an amazing dill sauce. Boyfriend ordered a side of their parsley garlic sauce for the fries, and it was so good that we asked for it with our breakfasts. He was so excited to have Franziskaner on draft(it’s remarkably hard to find in Chicago, not the case in Milwaukee) on Friday night – the dinner set the stage for our wonderful Milwaukee weekend. It gets a bit loud in there, even with just boisterous conversation, but such a nice atmosphere, great food, terrific service – when you’re in Milwaukee, enjoy a bit of Ireland!

Came for St. Paddys day and naturally had to get corned beef and cabbage, pastrami, and mashed potatoes. Everything was very good. Only eh part of the meal was I like my corned beef stringy and it was more cut in slabs– good flavor though. Cheddar mashed was great and horseradish cream sauce was really yummy. Service was also solid even though it was packed.

This is such a fun and laid-back place. The service is great, the drinks are good and the environment is casual and homey. Great place to sit with friends and just enjoy the day/night. Not the place you want to go if you are looking to get rowdy. Often they have Irish singers/musicians and it perfectly sets the scene. Its the kind of place you can’t help but be in a good mood when you’re there. Update: Recently I tried the Fish Fry! It was pretty average, wasn’t disappointed per se but I wasn’t blown away either. I guess I had higher hopes just because I like the County Clare but this probably wouldn’t be my first choice for a fish fry. That being said, If I was there, and felt like a fish fry, I would eat it.

This is the Irish Pub you’ve been looking for, Milwaukee. You don’t need the others, County Clare has got it all. Perfect for everything from work happy hours to brunch, the only downside is that you might need to fight the crowd to get a seat — the wait time is worth it though. A good selection of beers, they also have a menu of beer combos(snakebites are everything). Great for any meal, they also have a decent brunch — it’s less crowded too because most people don’t think of an Irish Pub for breakfast food. During the day time the lighting brings out the décor, while at night it’s a less dark and dank version of the pubs in the old country. Parking can be a bear, but that’s what you’d expect in that part of town. It’s located in a decent neighborhood though so the stroll over to the pub isn’t bad at all. It’s a shorter trip than going to Ireland for a real Pub though, and it’s the next best thing.
