Great place to get your art materials, but everything here is a little pricey so be prepared. They do, however, have a small sale/​clearance section at the back of the store. It’s easy to miss, but worth checking out (moleskin notebooks for 70% off). Staff members are very friendly and eccentric as well.

When I’m in Milwaukee I always but always head to Blick on Farewell. They have literally every single thing I need in the way of supplies, an amazing, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful staff that bends over backwards, and discounts that can’t be beat. It’s difficult to enter the store and not spend every single penny I have, and the truth is I tend to do just that — and happily. I can’t recommend this place enough. Go. Go now. Keep going. I know I will. In fact, I’ll go tomorrow. And I was just there today…

Great discounts for teachers and students. If you need help, you need to be very proactive about it, because the employees are not going to ask if you need help or give advice unless you specifically ask for it. The products are more high-​end, so if you’re trying something new, you might be a little uncomfortable coming here for supplies first.

I always feel like I’m in on a secret when I’m in Utrecht — like too many people flock to Michaels and JoAnns and don’t know about the amazing things to be found here.
Especially when I call them and get a quote for something that was literally a ¹⁄₆^th of the price they were charging at Michaels.
I love the smell of oil paints and gesso and all the creativity that’s swirling in the little space. The employees are super-​nice and helpful.

Such a little gem of a place that keeps the prices reasonable, the options aplenty and my projects going. What’s not to like?

Art supplies. Lots of them. All the art supplies!
And we’re not talking crafts, folks. We’re talking painting… and almost exclusively, actually. (I mean, drawing and sculpture to an end too, though.) I came here looking for fabric paint and came up wayyyy empty handed. Nope. None of that crafty-​fun-​time stuff here.
I could imagine that MIAD kids might lose their minds at Utrecht. The number of acrylics, the canvases, the tools, the sheer volume of art-​nerd stuff is sort of mind-​blowing. Charcoal and weird chemicals to ‘set’ things… I don’t pretend to be an ‘ar-​teest,’ but I do find all this stuff fascinating.
The single, college-​aged employee did not ask if he could help me find anything; rather, he seemed interested in continuing to talk about philosophy in medium with a super cute gal in glasses. Can’t blame him… he probably works at Utrecht for that very reason. (I would have, however, appreciated someone coming over to say «Hey! Can I help you find a thing?» I was clearly wandering confused…)
Utrecht definitely seems a bit on the expensive side to me, but what do I know? Sometimes I try to paint and fail miserably. That said, I really enjoy trying from time to time, so knowing Utrecht is there to satisfy any/​all of my acrylic whims? It’s comforting. And nice.

One of my favorite places to go when I’m in Milwaukee. Huge selection and variety of art supplies, especially hard to find items, for professionals, students and amateurs. Great prices, especially when you’re buying a lot. Bright, clean atmosphere with very helpful, knowledgeable staff.

I love this place! Mainly because its not a Micheals and their canvas’ are variously uniquely shaped. Walking around the store gives an artist new ideas about their hobby (or job, depending). I would be happier if there were more sales/​discounts going on, because every time I go here I have an urge to spend all my money.

If you’re an artist, this is the place to shop in Milwaukee. Bill, Mike & the staff are always friendly & helpful. Time & money well spent.

I agree that Utrecht is great and the discount card is good but they are still a little on the expensive side. They do however make up for it with a great selection of different items and media!

I’m a huge fan of Utrecht! Art supplies can get expensive, but if you join their student discount club you automatically get a small percentage off each time you shop (it’s free to join!).
The staff rocks — always helpful. If you paint, draw or do photography Utrecht is a great resource for supplies.
