Atomic Tattoos

When I was 18, I stopped by with a girl from my floor (because, COLLEGE!), and we both got tattoos done. Ricardo (who no longer works at Atomic) was theeeeee PERFECT Tattoo artist for me — he had a soft hand, so it didn’t hurt, and was very knowledgeable, professional and patient with me (it was my first, afterall).
Fast toward to me being 24, I got my nose pierced (elsewhere) and had some issues when my nose ring fell out. I stopped by on a Saturday morning panicking because I had lost my original nose ring, was scared that the hole was closing up and in a moment of panic, tried to fit another nose ring in that wasn’t safe for me to use.
When I walked in, the young woman behind the counter was AGAIN, super patient with me as I told her my sob story of bad life choices and used all the wrong terminology (cause I don’t know much about piercings…), and super knowledgeable about the rings they had available to use, and even offered to put the ring in for me, since I was obviously a hot mess.
The space is beautiful, hung with plenty of art work. It is also super duper clean!
To that young woman, thanks for making my crappy weekend into a great one!

Two friends and I got piercings here and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. One of my friends felt faint after her piercing and the piercer (woman with purple hair) was very patient and helpful. Not the typical experience you get when you walk into a tattoo shop with a group of friends. The staff payed close attention to detail and actually cared about what they were doing.

My sister and I made an appoint with Kate weeks in advance while I was in town from Hawaii. We were going to get a bass/​treble clef heart. The appointment was for 11 am today. At 11:10, Sy walks up to the door and asks if we are Kate’s appointment. We said yes, and he just walks in with no other conversation. We asked if we could come in and he says yes. With no explanation he asks what we’re getting. My sister said she sent Kate what we wanted and he then explains that Kate is in Madison and asked him to do our tattoos. We weren’t notified beforehand of this and he offered no explanation until then. He was very rude and told us he would just google what we wanted when my sister offered to send it to him. He asks how large we want it and we said about the size of a half dollar. He prints off a print the size of a quarter of an 8 ½×11 page. LOL I was getting it on the back of my neck and she was getting hers on her forearm below her elbow. So we were like, no… Way smaller. So he copies it the same size and is getting frustrated that we don’t want it to be the size of Montana. Finally he says, «you keep saying smaller but you don’t understand how tattoos work.» I have multiple tattoos, so yes, I do. I said he was condescending and clearly didn’t want to do this and he said, «well I would, I’m just saying, it’s on you.» I asked for the copy he made of my sisters ID and we left.
Wtf. Well just get our tattoos in Hawaii.
Kate’s work is beautiful, but even knowing someone like Sy represents atomic tattoo, I would NEVER send someone their way.

Atomic Tattoo always exceeds my expectations for piercings. I love the shop. If you ever have to wait there is enough stuff all over the walls and counters to keep you entertained. It’s like a museum. Love it. The piercing room is always clean and picked up. You never have more than a 5 min wait even without an appointment. The pierces are very patient if you’re scared and will make jokes and talk you through it. Their piercers have a ton of experience and I’ve never have a problem with any piercings I’ve gotten here. I’ve been here a total of 4 times for myself and 2 other times with friends. I recommend them to everyone. If you’re thinking about coming here for a piercing I would 100% recommend them.

I’ve come to atomic for a couple of my piercings since moving to Milwaukee. Every experience I’ve had had been great! The staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home.
Here’s where the love affair with this place starts. My teenage angst many moons ago landed me with an awful and embarrassing tattoo that I’ve hated since the week I for whatever reason decided it was a good idea to get it. I stopped by to get a white tattoo and the artists advised me against it. Very knowledgeable about the long term result which swayed my decision to get it. I decided to ask if they did cover ups and showed them my «masterpiece.» Armando is amazing. He took on the project and had me very involved in designing the new piece. The first picture he drew me I hated. I was nervous to tell him but he remained pleasant and kept the process going. I sent him a couple pictures showing the style I was going for and the same day he drew me the perfect tattoo. The day of my appointment I had to move the appointment to an hour later and he accommodated me with no problem. During the tattoo process he was polite, professional, an kept me feeling as comfortable as someone can be while needles are jabbing into you. I am absolute in love with the end result. You can’t even tell its a coverup! The lines are clean, the shading is amazing, and the placement is as close to perfect as you can get while covering another poorly placed tattoo.

I came to Atomic Tattoo to get my nostril pierced. I have watched plenty of my friends get this similar piercing and I’ve talked to many people and it seems like a simple piercing. This might have just been me but I did not have a simple piercing. I walked into the shop and it was a lot bigger and nicer than I expected. I don’t remember the name of the guy who did my piercing but he was making jokes and making me comfortable that way. He put the needle through my nose and then tried to exchange the needle for the jewelry and it wouldn’t go through. He then proceeded to try and force the jewelry through my nose which didn’t work. He also tried piercing through the inside of my nose to get it through. He finally decided to just get a new needle and pierce it again and he got the jewelry through. He didn’t talk much afterwards probably because he could tell I was upset. He was very short while telling me how to take care of my piercing and didn’t have any interest in making me comfortable anymore. I’m pleased with my piercing itself but my piercer and experience could have been far better.

I have no idea if she’s still there, but Sarah P did my microdermal about 2 and a half years ago, and she did a fantastic job. Not only is the piercing still perfectly intact due to her skill as a piercer, but her bedside manner was the best. Friendly, comforting, and confident– just what you want in a piercer. I hope she’s still there because I have plans to get another one soon, and I really want to go back to her specifically.

Troy Garris has done most of my tattoos. I am extremely happy with them. He has a great sense of what will look good, gives great advice and suggestions, and is fun and easy to talk to as he is putting needle to skin. The prices seem pretty reasonable too.
The shop is clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you walk in with something particular in mind, which you always should, and you are searching for the right artist to do it, they will steer you through the right artist. At many tattoo shops that I have been in, that is not the case.

This is the first tattoo parlor that I have visited & I was very impressed. The tattoo artists have great energy & are very talented. I have two tattoos that were done here at this parlor. I sketch my own tattoo drawings and the artist inked them perfectly on my skin. When I became a little nevous, the artist caringly tried to distract my pain by directing me to watch a movie being shown at the parlor & IT WORKED!
There is always parking available in the lot and the establishment is never crowed.

This is the place I recommend to everyone. Justin does all of my work here and he’s got solid artistic talent. He’s a bit of a hammer (if you’re a chick of chicks) but the lines are perfect and scar-​free.
And this isn’t a knock on you other guys. Justin’s just got that whole pretty – boy thing going for him. He’s an easy sell.
Piercing goes well here, but I’m not sure if the girl who did my tongue repiercing is still there. She was pretty knowledgeable.
