Alright, time to make an exception– Go to the coffee shop for Pizza. Yes, this is a command. There are plenty of great coffee houses in Milwaukee as well as other Anodyne locations that are most likely more convient, so you come here for the Pizza. Trust me, the drive, bike ride, bus, traffic… whatever the means, It is worth the stretch. Simple, straight forward, fresh yet basic ingredients, All composed in the proper sequence, finished in a more than Proper Pizza Oven. Pizza done the way it was meant to be!

Ok, This has got to be my new favorite café in the little town of Milwaukee — from an ingestibles point of view. From an ambience POV, it’s my second favorite. First, the surprise factor — Pizza! Sure this is an Anodyne Café. And the coffee is as good as you would expect. But the Pizza! It was totally a surprise. The dough is soft and delectable. The taste, divine. It can give the top NY Pizzeria’s such as Keste and Patrizia’s a run for their money. And then, the coffee. Or specifically, the cappuccinos. The drink that I had. Now Anodyne’s one of the top roasters here. Once you get into that league of the Anodyne’s the 4Barrels, the Bowtruss, the BlueBottle’s etc etc, the espresso itself comes close to perfection such that the differentiating factor becomes the milk. The quality of it, how it’s foamed, etc. Here for some reason, Wisconsin seems to have the advantage over every other state that I’ve been to. They use Red Barn milk which is the probably the best milk that I’ve had. Happy Cows come from Red Barn :). In short, come for the coffee, stay for the pizza! Or at least till the WiFi runs out. The only annoying part of this café. They have to renew the WiFi every 2 hours. And whining about that is like playing a very, very tiny violin.

I adore great espresso and I never have found a better one in the nation. Really. I strive locally roasted espresso in every town I possibly can on both shores. This one is my favorite. I bring their java as hostess presents whenever I remain with someone. It’s astonishing!

If you’ve never been to a coffee shop for pizza before, let this be your first experience. Unique topping combinations(don’t be intimidated by the pig jowl and pickled peppers, it’s sooooo yummy!), a cool view of the wood fire pizza oven, and delicious coffee to boot. Chill atmosphere with a lot of seating options, and fun music. A great place to study/read or meet up with friends. Highly recommend it!

I’m always on the go. Hardly ever do I have time to actually walk to a place to get coffee, so I end up being a slave to the corporate life juice that is Starbucks. When I found I had some time this past Sunday, I took full advantage of it and checked out a place I’ve always heard of, but never been to, despite living in Bayview for almost three years. The inside of the building took me off guard. I didn’t expect it to be so large inside, but it was still quaint. It had a bit of a north woods cabin vibe to it. I also was surprised that they served pizza! We didn’t have any, but it looked delicious, and I’ll be sure to go back and try it. We didn’t stay long, just long enough to get our coffee and tea and head out. The person I was with thought the tea was a bit overpriced($ 2.16 for a cup of tea when he could get an entire box for that amount), but it was still good. My caramel latte with almond milk was delicious, and was about the price I expected. The service was quick, prompt, and friendly as well. I wasn’t sold on the pastries they had there, however. Maybe they have different ones on different days, but there wasn’t much variety(and no chocolate! Hey — I’m a twenty-something female who was getting visited by Aunt Flo at the time. I had a right to be moody). I would love to go back another time and check it out, and I wanna get my mouth all up in that pizza. It smelled good, and the presentation was amazing. I know they also do live performances there, which is super cool. I haven’t gotten my rite of passage into hipsterdom yet, despite living in Bayview, owning a cat, wearing flannel, and singing the praises of the Cactus Club. I feel that drinking almond milk lattes in a coffee house and ever-so-slightly nodding my head to soft indie folk guitar will finally give me my hipster card, and I hope to do that at Anodyne very soon.

I have been to the other two Anodyne’s in Walkers Point and the Third Ward so it’s inevitable that I make it to this one. Coffee is just as good and space is inviting. Each location has its own vibe and this one is smaller an cozy with a unique focal point of a brick pizza oven. I had already eaten dinner so wasn’t able to try one but daily special sounded great– blood orange and ricotta pie. This location also sports a bar feature around the central island along with high top and regular tables. Stacks of split wood line the front wall ready to be used in the pizza oven. They also have coffee type snacks(sweet treats) at the counter and salads on the menu. It’s a casual place to hang out and relax with a little less hustle and bustle than the Point and definitely different than having coffee at the Public Market. They are all great spaces — visit all three and pick your favorite.

Anodyne in Bay View is a convenient place to stop for one of their signature coffee drinks while out and about. I highly recommend their Iced Honey Bee and regular mocha. Both are super delicious, sweet, and rich! My boyfriend and I were extremely pleased to have a local roaster right around the corner from our house, but after buying a few bags of beans we won’t be purchasing them again. Our last bag had some definite off flavors from over roasting, which points to poor quality control on their part. That being said… we have never had bad coffee from them when stopping buy for a quick cup. I haven’t tried their pizza yet, but will definitely be stopping by for some soon to check it out!

Cozy comfortable interior welcomes you. Many walk ins from the neighborhood and most people are very friendly. Great tasting small batch coffee. Good bakery. A nice relaxing place to chat or use your wifi devices.

Super communal feeling coffee shop with lots of character. Cozy interior. Have to order at the front, staff was super friendly. Got a hot chocolate and a cream cheese blueberry muffin, both are amazing, simple and done right. Free wifi is a definite plus. Will definitely be back and hopefully next time I’ll try the pizza

I’m not one who usually throws around the word ‘super’ when discussing coffee shops, but Anodyne Coffee in Bay View deserves this distinction… and not just because we have spotted people dressed in some pretty amazing costumes when we have stopped by. The staff is highly knowledgeable, the coffee is top-notch, and the pizza, well it’s good enough to make Superman consider noshing a kryptonite pie… if there was such a thing.

My husband and I went to this location and loved the coffee! Amazing quality! But did not like the young woman who took our order. She was rude and unhelpful. The friendly man who actually prepared our coffee was wonderful.

If you are looking to get away from the zoo that is Starbucks in the AM, this Is the perfect hangout! We are a Fernwood Montessori family and this place was founded by Fernwood Montessori teachers. They used to roast the beans here but have since replaced It with a wood fire pizza oven. .I had the quiche and a delicious coffee drink. Both for under $ 10 including tip. Great way to support local and catch up with friends. I saw 7 – 8 people I knew.

The place is awesome!!! I was stationed in Italy for 2 years and have been missing the pizza ever since. The lure of a wood fired brick oven was enough to get this coffee shop on my to do list. The coffee was excellent, but this pizza though, this pizza was exactly what I’ve been looking for. I had the«spicy» and added the basil oil. I’m only back in town for a week and I’ll come back before I go. Give the place a try, you won’t be disappointed!

I’ve had an on and off again love for coffee, which I once again rediscovered when I went back to school. I’ve lived blocks from this place and frequent the area quite a bit, especially since it’s so close to where the BF + little sis live. The coffee here? I love it. But that’s just about all I love about this place. They have a good assortment of coffees to choose from, and their hot chocolate is pretty good, too. They don’t really serve a ton of pastries, and when they do have them available, they are often stale/no longer fresh, and I’m not so sure I want to pay $ 4+ for something I can hardly eat. They also have pizza — but, it’s not quite your typical pizza place. We took the little sister in for hot chocolate but she decided she wanted pizza, too. She’s a picky eater, unfortunately, so she didn’t want a premade pizza and asked for individual toppings. The person behind the counter told her that they didn’t make any pizzas that were not directly on the menu(so, they won’t make pepperoni or sausage, because that style is not explicitly on the menu) — which is honestly a load of bull. If the pizza is freshly, handmade there and you have the ingredients, why would you not make what the customer wants? The service is subpar — I’ve found that anything I order takes longer than other places, and this location has a much smaller menu of drinks, and no real«made» food outside of pizza. The staff don’t do a lot of interaction with customers, either, mainly cracking jokes with other staff members. I just don’t see the same professionalism or friendliness that attracts me to other places. Overall, I prefer the selection of coffee places on KK/Lincoln/Howell, if only for the service.

Oh, Anodyne. You are delicious. Your interior reminds me of a hunting lodge with your piles of firewood on the walls. Your poppyseed-orange bread makes my stomach smile and my heart melt. Oh, I do love you. However, you have a bit of a seating issue. More chairs and tables would be lovely!

Lots of seating and good specialty coffees. Their breakfast offerings leave some to be desired but it’s a great alternative if you’re not feeling sprawling, noisy Colectivo or super-intimate Stone Creek. Try the Nutty Pedestrian if you want something cold.

This review is for the pizza. Which is goooooood. First place I’ve found in Milwaukee with real, wood-fired pizza. The Spice was my favorite of the two we got. Reasonably priced, quick, good beers, friendly staff(and patrons — I mean, it is bay view) and $ 6 house wines. Will be back again and again to try allllll the pizzas.

Very flavorful coffee! The interior is very nice with plenty of seating. They recently added a pizza oven & food other than bakery. The only downfall is sometimes parking can be tricky.

So what if the lovely workers had to kick us out because they wanted to go home? They’d filled us with delightful pizza and allowed us to entertain them and be loud for a long time and we were quite cozy after some seriously delicious pies and ciders. I just always kind of feel like I’m in a friend’s kitchen here. The baristas are friendly and chatty and kind of hop in your convos in the best way. My friends and I get a little loud and crazy because we kind of forget ourselves and while I guess that’s probably annoying to other folks around us, it speaks to our comfort in the surroundings here. Three of us each ordered a different pizza last time and passed them around. Wonderful crispy crust with fresh, tasty and unique toppings(potato and rosemary YES!) I just love the lived in feel here. I love that it sort of effortlessly achieves that«other place» feel that coffee shops try to have without every feeling like they had to try

This is a great local coffee shop with wonderful coffee, friendly service and lots of seating. I(stupidly) tried to listen in on a work conference call from inside… the other callers didn’t appreciate the sound of beans grinding so much. Recommend you just unplug and enjoy your coffee.
