Well. I heard it’s a lot better in Philippines. but I wouldn’t know since I haven’t been there in awhile. It’s wannabe«Japanese» food. but hey, if you want it fast, here it is.(if Sarku Japan happens to be a little too far). I’d really only go for the teriyaki here… and that mocha drink. Otherwise. the«crunch rolls» are literally dry California rolls with rice krispies around it. The tempura’s «okay.» but… I don’t like it all that much.

Why on earth is this placed called Tokyo Tokyo when it’s run by filipinos? Total bait and switch! The sushi is awful; salmon is overcooked, and the udon tastes like it’s straight from a package.

Be careful when ordering at Tokyo Tokyo. Make sure you«scream» your order since this one stud at the cashier got my friend’s order wrong and decided to take vengeance on us innocent girls. Honestly, how can you mistake California Rolls for Crispy Tempura Rolls? And to top that, she was given her sushi with pieces of PLASTIC in it after confronting him. I mean, hello. Is it our fault you heard the order incorrectly? We went back to the cashier, and it was fairly obvious that this man did not care. He plainly apologized in a non-apologetic style, and this angered us greatly. Don’t get me wrong, my sushi was delicious. My friend’s sushi? Not so much, unless you enjoy swallowing plastic waste that will probably give you cancer. I wonder if I swallowed any plastic. The service however, is ehhh. I felt bad for the kind old woman in the back cooking.

This is the thing, I came to Tokyo Tokyo just to get their red iced tea(since I forgot to pack my own refreshment during my work break). And there I was standing in front of their register waiting for someone to take my order… I see them busy doing something,(intentionally ??) not minding my presence. I neither got a greeting nor a smile. Two minutes passed, nothing… I had to do something, so I said, «I would like to order». Seems the«service» crew didn’t think I am a valuable customer that she took her time to approach me and took my order, gave me the drink and took my money. With a hurried thank you, she left to continue what she’s doing. just for the drink(am the only customer then) took about five minutes and the dispenser was right next to her. Talk about customer satisfaction ~ NOT!

«No, no, no…» I thought to myself, «THAT’S not how you get a good review on Unilocal!» My bowl of chicken teriyaki had a really small amount of chicken in it. The taste was a little below okay. I mean, I know they’re a non-Japanese franchise specializing in Japanese food, but even for fake Japanese food it wasn’t too good. Service wasn’t great, either. The cashier initially charged me too much for my order, then when I fixed it, she gave me too much change. After placing the change on the counter she quickly went to the back, so I slid it back behind the register. All I know is, the dish«Best Chicken Teriyaki» does not live up to its name at all. I am never trusting dishes peppered with grand, boastful adjectives ever again!

Got a preview of this place– ordered an ebi tempura(shrimp) wrap. ordered the spinach tortilla with white rice(choice of white or wasabi rice) and teriyaki sauce(sauce choices: teriyaki, mayo-wasabi sauce, and 2 others I forgot). This wrap was pretty large(kinda like Chipotle’s burrito size and pretty cheap for $ 4.25. VERYGOODDEAL. I hope to try other things.

Delicious food, but don’t mistake it for«a japanese restaurant place«They still have the filipino taste to it. That wouldn’t amount to what real japanese food tastes like. But I love the foood though, its good. and Its affordable !

I heard that this place in the Philippines is known for their shrimp tempura, so when they opened one here in Milpitas, I decided to give it a try. At first when u take a couple of of bites, it was«eh OK» and when you take a bite of your 2nd tempura shrimp u can taste and feel how oily the food is, and it just lingers for awhile… I tried their Honey green tea, nothing special… it taste like nestea honey green tea… If you want shrimp tempura you’re better off going to a true Japanese restaurant and you get unlimited fresh brewed tea!

I went there with a Filipino friend(college student) who was super-excited to see this new location. He remembered growing up in The Philippines and enjoying this place. I had never tried it, so I was game. We each ordered one of their«Sumo Meals»; he ordered the BBQ beef entrée, and I ordered chicken yakitori(chicken skewers). The Sumo Meal is like a Japanese bento box, consisting of miso soup, rice, a small salad with dressing already on it, shrimp and vegetable tempura, tempura dipping sauce, and the main entrée of your choice. Here it’s not served in a bento box though, it’s served in a styrofoam container, with the soup in a styrofoam soup cup. We ordered our meal at about 30 minutes before closing time on a Thursday evening. As others have commented on, the service is slow for a fast-food style place(it took over 15 minutes to get our food), but I was patiently waiting because I figured the delay meant the food was being prepared after we ordered it, rather than sitting under a heat lamp. When our meals were ready, the first thing I tasted was the tempura, knowing that it’s best when it’s right out of the fryer. It was cold, limp, greasy, and generally horrible. Possibly the worst tempura I ever had. It definitely did NOT just come from the fryer; it tasted like it had been sitting on the floor for the past half hour! The fried vegetables(onion rings, sweet potato, etc.) were notably worse than the ebi(shrimp) tempura, which was sort of edible. Unfortunately for me, this set a bad tone for the rest of the meal. I thought the miso soup had way too strong of a soy sauce taste(I don’t think soy sauce is supposed to be in true miso soup at all). The rice was fine, and they gave me an ample portion. The salad was warm and limp(I can hear Rachel Ray saying, «YUCK-O!»)… I tasted one limp lettuce leaf and left the rest untouched. The main entrees were actually quite good for a fast-food place. My friend and I shared our entrees, and I thought both the BBQ beef and chicken teriyaki were decent. They were hot and the sauces on them were good.(That’s why I gave this place the one star.) Overall, the price was reasonable for the amount of food, but the quality really needs to be improved. No restaurant manager should allow lukewarm, oily tempura or warm, limp salad to be served to their customers! I might give this place one more try, just in case I happened to visit them on an «off» day.

They get three stars because of the flavor of the food(not the sushi) and because of the prices. I usually get the Salmon and it always very good. Prices are good — you can’t get Salmon anywhere for less than $ 8 but here it’s like $ 6. The sushi is not so good — I get the california roll with the bento box and it usually isn’t that great. This place gets less stars because of the wait and the overall confusion I see happening. I haven’t been able to get my food faster than 20 minutes(but since it’s fresh and tastes good, I’m okay with that). The first time I went there I was a bit surprised that it took so long. Now I order and walk around for 15 minutes. I would blame the wait on the young people working there. They seem to be working hard but not smart — they walk around doing one little thing at a time and then back and forth and back and forth. The lady making the california roll makes like one at a time which they are waiting for a lot. Make one big one which will go on a few places. Same thing when cooking — they can cook a couple pieces of chicken or steak when there are a few people waiting. I still like it and go often(when I have time that is).

Do not bother with sushi here. Just don’t. Annnd shrimp tempura is done pretty nicely, but oily. So consider yourself warned and don’t eat too many.

Everyone that reviewed this restaurant is right! I think they were being generous by giving it a 2 star rating. It is a very long wait. I waited 11 minutes for a beef teriyaki and bbq-chicken sumo bento box. So I guess they reduced their their cooking time from 20 minutes. By the time I got my food– my Beef Teriyaki was cold, the miso soup was cold and extremely salty. My brothers BBQ-chicken was undercooked and bleeding! My brother spoke to the manager and asked if it was suppose to be chicken and pointed to the blood oozing. The manager did not apologize or say anything he just gave our money back. I would think that someone in charge should have better customer service skills. He was also the one plating the food, he should of seen that the chicken was under cooked before sending it out. We visited 6÷17÷10 at 7:44 pm.

2.5 stars For some reason my bro really likes the sushi crunch rolls here. 16 pieces for 10 bucks, which is huge. The sushi itself is also a big size, but definetely too much rice in my opinion, and they take forever to put food together. Also, not a big fan of fried food, so maybe that’s why I don’t like it. Another thing, the hand rolls look like BURRITOS! Sushi burrito?!! Are they suppose to be that big? I don’t know because I’ve never had one before, but it was hugeeeeeee.

I got a chicken teriyaki burrito wrap from a Japanese-themed store in a Filipino plaza. The wrap looked delicious. And there was a slogan for the item too which read, «Delicious meal in a cone!» And I thought to myself, «Dang! I can’t go wrong with that.» And boy, was I flippin’ wrong. It was horrible. It was as flavorless as water. Not cool, Tokyo Tokyo. Also, the person that took our order asked, «Hi ma’m-sir, how may I help you?» to my friend, Jennie. And I laughed. There is a lot of cross dressing that happens in the Philippines. So if people don’t know your gender is, you are called a ma’m-sir. Salamat po ma’m-sir.

I had to wait over 20 minutes for my food… and they got the order wrong!!! I didn’t realize it until I was home and there was no point driving 15 minutes to complain. The food is okay. I’ve had the chicken teriyaki and salmon teriyaki. For the price, it’s good. The salmon is a bit dry but that’s expected coming out of an Asian fast food joint. The chicken is actually pretty good. I’d even say better than in many sushi joints around town. As with my experience with Chowking in the same new mall, this place also has an issue with having pennies at their cash register. I just don’t get it when there’s Seafood City and US Bank right across the hall from them. So, when giving out change, they will round down. Running out of change or pennies is not a big deal. It can happen to any business. However, for it to happen every time I’ve been here(and at Tokyo Tokyo which it shares space with… same owner?), I find it very fishy. Because, I don’t see how someone can’t just run over to the bank or the supermarket and get a roll of pennies??? By the way, the CA rolls you get with the entrees is a joke. I’ve had better CA rolls from supermarket deli counters!

The vegetables were lame. the rice was salty. it took 15 minutes to get my food.

Japanese«fast food» run by Pilipinos. Interesting. I suppose I could have had Chow King which was right next door, and they actually«share» dining space. And by the looks of it people were criss crossing menu items from both restos from a plate here and a drink there and vice versa. Located in the new Seafood City«mall» it’s very clean and very new. Menu has your usual fare of teriyaki chicken/beef, tempura, and very few sushi items. Their dining area isn’t very big and the tables aren’t very accomodating either, being that they share dining space. I ordered the chicken teriyaki sumo meal and shared it with #3. It came with chicken teriyaki, 2 pieces of shrimp tempura, 2 onion tempura, 1 carrot tempura, some mixed veggies(that appeared cooked, I was hoping for salad), miso soup, and very little rice. It took them foooooooooorevers to get my meal. My family was already ½ way through their meals from CK by the time I got my food. But while I was standing there, waiting… and waiting… and waiting, I observed some strange cooking methods. They were nuking what looked to be my already cooked chicken in the microwave *GASP* WHAT! And then they threw it on the grill? And then it was plated and then teriyaki sauce drizzled on top. I’m no connoisseur of teriyaki but that just didn’t look right! It didn’t taste bad thankfully. Maybe that«grill» step helped it? The tempura was good at the time but of course a few burps later and it felt like oil was creeping up my throat. ICK! The cooked veggies would have been better replaced by a salad. The miso soup was rather bland and tasteless. It’s been awhile since I’ve had Japanese, but I’m thinking I should have followed suit with the rest of my family and went with CK!
