Skyway Electric and Solar

Got a referral from a co-​worker and it has been the best investment made on our house since we bought it in 2008. I did do my homework and received four other quotes before making my decision. We had our solar panels installed by Skyway and completed by end of 2014 Dec so we at least could get our rebate money during our 2015 tax return! Yahoo!
Alain was great in explaining the quote and process. He was honest in his opinion of what we should get vs getting the highest quality. They have been in business for quite some time but his dad was the original owner who started the roofing company many years ago. At least, they know their roofs. They had the best customer service and everything made sense but I believe the numbers didn’t reflect the drastic changes in prices for PG&E; not too much but still cheaper than what I was paying! I think my only complaint with Skyway is their responses after it was installed were kinda lagging as I had more questions about the panels/​battery. This is why the 4 stars only but still a fan and will recommend to my family and friends.
Over the years, PG&E have gone up so many times even twice a year sometimes and that had made my final decision to go solar since my family is such a high user. This year was super warm for us and more than just the summer so our AC was on all day. We live by the hills of Hayward so it is warmer inland. My bill is usually $ 275-​$ 350 a month from April-​Oct so now with the loan and PG&E bill, I still paid less than $ 190 a month for my monthly. Steep huh? LOL Well, there is six of us living in our home. ;-)
Alain quoted us for 19 panels but I said that is not enough for me. I wanted solar to give us more energy so I upped it by one panel and I am glad I did! I ended up using more electricity than before due to a lot of people coming to our house. Never be afraid to contradict a suggestion.
The installation took a little longer than expected as we had to have permits in Hayward and had to work with PG&E. They are never on time. The Skyway team were very cooperative when I had questions. I am still waiting till Skyway starts investing in a backup battery system for the solar panels when PG&E has a blackout. To note to others getting solar: Your solar panels will not work when there is a blackout. There is supposedly a credit for solar panel battery and I will be investing in this for sure when it comes out! The panels we bought had a 25 year warranty and their installation was a 15 years warranty so this is why I went with Skyway.
My loan was broken down in twelve years and you still have to be connected to your power source company in your area. You can always pay the loan off as well. They do offer leasing panels but I don’t suggest to do that. If you ever decide to sell your house, I was told the solar panels can go with you for a small fee or you can add to the house your selling for better value when selling. All benefits for me. We just installed our solar with Skyway Electric in August 2015. Super happy with the entire process. Alain came to our house prepared with data and facts and was so different from the other companies we checked out which were more focused on making a sale, not saving us money. Once we signed our agreement, Ralph was our project manager and he was wonderful about keeping us in the loop every step of the way. A few other employees also helped us with upgrading our electrical panel, ensuring we had all of our smoke detectors for the county inspection and generally understanding our new system. Definitely worth checking out Skyway as it is a hidden gem in the saturated solar market.

Charlie Bui from Skyway did our solar panel installation in September, 2014 for our home in Piedmont…24 panels. He did an EXCELLENT job, managing his crew superbly– they were on time, worked diligently and neatly and finished the job on time.

I would definitely recommend Skyway. Just finished the installation of the solar system on our house. Our sales consultant, Ingrid, was fantastic. Very helpful and explained all the steps. The project mgr, Ralph, was great! He kept us informed on all the dates and details. Even the installation teams were amazing– did great job installing. Very clean, professional and stayed right on schedule. The day of the final inspection, they arrived early and took care of everything. Honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing. Very happy with the service, price, time frame– everything.

I’m really happy with my solar system from Skyway. The whole team is very knowledgeable, professional, and courteous, and the design and installation went very smooth. The pricing was very competitive, and the 8kW project was completed ahead of schedule, so I could begin to realize the large savings on my energy bill much faster than I expected.

Skyway did an excellent job designing and installing my solar system. They’re professional, knowledgeable, hard working, pay close attention to details, and completed the installation on schedule. Everything they told me about my solar system has turned out to be true, including the BIG savings in my energy bill.
My roof is pretty challenging for a solar system, as it has a third story with an irregular roof, and Skyway’s experienced staff designed and installed a system that fully provides for my electrical requirements. I’m very happy with my solar system, and highly recommend Skyway.

I had a great experience with this company. They were very professional, great price, and responded quickly when I had questions. Most companies said it would take three months to get solar up and running. Skyway had my system going in a little over a month. They offered an excellent finance program and looking forward to my rebate during tax season.
As far as employees appearance when they came over, they were all professional and were wearing Skyway polo shirts. They knocked on the door before they went on my property, and called me when they left (if I was not home). I would recommend this company to my family and friends (and have).
