Melissa is super friendly and really relatable in every conversation we have while shes waxing me, which makes time go by so quickly and makes my waxing experience less painful each visit. Shes super sweet providing an after care waxing kit for first time customers and she was very kind enough to give me a refill on one of her products after my last visit. I love the cloth scrub that she gives you that is part of her kit! Its a life changing product for me especially when I have been dealing with rough bumpy arms for years!

Melissa has won my heart! She is sweet and super quick with the waxing process. Before you know it, you’re outta there! I won’t say that getting brazilian waxes are painless, but Melissa walks you through everything. She teaches you a breathing technique that helps ease the pain.
Everyone has given her 5 stars for a reason. STOP looking else where and make an appointment with Melissa! I walked in and was immediately greeted by her. I was super nervous but she really knows how to turn that around!
***TIP*** This is for the first timers with her. She doesn’t accept tip for your first visit with her. NOTHING.
It really goes to show that she puts mission over commission and that’s why she is so successful in this business with returning customers. She really loves what she does.

Let me just say that Melissa is so awesome and she made the whole waxing experience for me so comfortable. I’ve never had a Brazilian before, so coming here, I was pretty nervous about it. She was very honest about how much it would hurt but tried her best to make it as painless as possible. She really wants you to have the best experience. She is also very easy to talk to, which makes the whole thing even easier because she’s keeping you occupied from the pain haha. Definitely would recommend her for any of your waxing needs!!!

I came in to get my eyebrows done after months of growing them out and Melissa did an amazing job! Her prices are very reasonable, and she accepts credit cards. She was very professional and friendly, and made me feel comfortable through the whole thing. Booking through the app was easy and convenient, and I’ll definitely be coming back. :-)

After going to Melissa, you won’t want to go anywhere else. Iv heard she makes you very comfortable and makes the painful experience as easy as possible. Even me being pregnant, she made me feel so comfortable with myself as I went to her for my first time doing a Brazilian. She takes her work seriously and also builds great clientele relationships within your first time visiting with her. Feels like going to your good friend to get your waxing done. I’d recommend her to anyone and everyone especially if your a first timer.

I’m new to the Bay Area and went to Melissa for a Brazilian wax after reading the reviews here, and I’m so glad I did. The reviews do not lie. Not only did she know what she was doing, she was extremely friendly and reassuring. I was given a kit with care products and information on why and how to use them. A Brazilian wax will hurt, and she talked me through some breathing techniques that helped. Her technique is really good, and it really does minimise pain. Melissa refused a tip stating that she would prefer new customers to have a good experience and return to her if they liked the service, instead of leaving a tip!
Overall, great service. I don’t think I’m likely to go anywhere else for my waxing needs and definitely recommend Melissa.

Melissa is awesome!!! She is really good at small talk! I read about that quality she had and thought it would be awkward but it was awesome and made it feel like I wasn’t there for a wax! I was also blown away by the products she gives you to help the wax afterwards (I’m assuming for first time customers). She also doesn’t accept tips from first time customers because she wants them to enjoy their time (even though she really deserves one!). She is great and makes you feel so comfortable. I can’t wait to go back to her for my next wax! :)

It has always been difficult putting your trust in someone to do your eyebrows, however, from reading her reviews I knew I was going to be in good hands. Melissa is AMAZING! She is so personable and easy to talk to, and is by far the best esthetician I have ever met! She always does an impeccable job, very thorough, and worth her weight in gold! I had my first wax with her 3 years ago, and she made the otherwise awkward experience of laying on a table with your lady bits exposed, as comfortable as chatting with an old friend. She always does such a good job, and after seeing her for the first time in quite a while, and she was just as awesome as ever!

My wife and I came in for a couples Brazilian. We were both incredibly nervous going in but Melissa definitely took care of us.
She’s very vocal and walked us through the process and what to expect as far as the waxing treatment and the after care before and after our session.
The waxing itself was definitely bearable and Melissa took great care of us to make sure we were comfortable.
Our experience was so incredible and we plan and making trips here a regular thing.

Melissa… Today was my first time with you for a bikini wax. You were freaking awesome. Thank you. Pros: (1) Ease of scheduling appointment. (2) Confirmation/​Reminder phone call on day of appointment. (3) Location/​Premises: Easy to find, great parking and clean work area. (4) Aestetitian: cute, friendly, professional, knowledgeable and proper hygiene practices (no stick double dip). (5) Bonus: The girl wouldn’t let me tip because she is that confident in her service and knows I’ll be returning. Overall, I highly recommend Melissa. She is the best *except for my sister who usually waxes me. I love this woman. Cons: None so far.

Melissa changes the whole waxing experience!
I came to Melissa just to get my eyebrows waxed. You can seriously come in and put all your trust in her hands. She shaped my brows perfectly, gave suggestions on how to care for them if I wanted them to grow faster and talked me through the whole process. I mean, you would never think that getting your eyebrows done could be such an awesome experience.

The reviews don’t lie. I found this place on Unilocal and saw that it only had 5 star reviews. I was definitely a bit skeptical but it also piqued my curiosity and I was looking for a new place to get waxed in the San Jose area. You can book your appointments online, although she is usually booked weeks in advance. I got lucky and found an opening the very next day due to a cancellation and secured my spot.
Melissa is the sweetest person ever. Mac’s Strips is located in the back of Jenny’s Salon, where I’ve gone multiple times to get my hair cut. She has her own room in the back that’s cozy and comfortable. When you go the first time, she’ll explain the process of waxing, what to avoid after you get waxed and basically go over anything and everything that you might need to know. Melissa uses hard wax which is way better for the skin. She’s also incredibly patient and open to any questions and concerns.
This was only my second time getting waxed but Melissa made the experience actually quite enjoyable. She talks a lot and it definitely helps you calm any nerves or awkward/​shy feelings you might have. She also has a breathing technique that she uses that helps soothe the pain. Melissa is efficient and thorough. She doesn’t rush you and takes her time, working at a pace that you feel comfortable with. I’m pretty prone to ingrown hairs and she explained some after-​care techniques that help reduce ingrown hairs. If it’s your first time, she provides a care package with a scrubbing loofah sponge, acne body wash and some wipes. She’s incredibly understanding, willing to listen and provide her professional advice.
We also had a great time talking about our lives and careers. She’s so personable and it made the entire experience so much more enjoyable. She also doesn’t let you tip on the first time, which shows that she really appreciates her customers and wants them to have the best experience. This is definitely why she has so many repeat customers, good reviews and is always booked for weeks out! These reviews are not a joke. Melissa is the real deal!

BEST. WAXER. EVER.
I’m an esthetician so I am very familiar with how waxing should and shouldn’t be done. Melissa is amazing! She’s quick (but thorough), knowledgable & extremely sweet. So glad I found her! You can’t beat the price either. I recently moved to the Bay area from Chicago where mediocre Brazilian waxes start at $ 60+
She uses all hard wax which is way better for the skin & gives first time clients an aftercare kit (nice touch).

Going to pretty much every european wax center all over Cali, I can honestly say that Melissa provides the BEST SERVICE POSSIBLE. The price is reasonable and she abunently cares for every client. Melissa’s passion for her business allows her to always provide consistent care and comfort to every appointment made. She really is the triple treat! I used to love the European Wax Center, but only because my first Brazilian waxer in Davis was amazing and I always booked with her – that is, until I moved back to the Bay. Since then, it’s been meh experiences at the EWC, terrible/​painful experiences at other places, and most recently, a mixed experience at a stupid cheap place ($ 25) with really quick waxers but that was also unsanitary (double dip, yuck! and which makes me stupid, sigh).
I decided to wise up and find a new place – Mac’s Strips is close to home and the online booking was super convenient. Just had my first wax with Melissa and she definitely knows her stuff. I got pre– and post-​wax tips, a pretty quick, fairly painless wax, ingrown hair removal and even a goodie bag with post-​wax products!
As a businesswoman, she should be getting me to be a monthly customer like most places do, but instead, she’s got my best interests at heart – once every 2 months like I usually do is fine since I don’t have as much growth down there. In fact, because I have light skin, dark hair, and such little growth, I’m a perfect candidate for laser hair removal – something I’ve been thinking about but need to save up for.
Speaking of saving up, at $ 47 (for the first time) with about a $ 10 tip, it’s definitely reasonable considering the quality and efficiency of the service, but still a little pricey for me, even at $ 42 (for regulars) with a $ 5 tip.

Melissa was great… so professional and friendly… will definitely come back.

This place is excellent! Melissa is definitely professional! She explained each step and the products that she used. It did not hurt at all! I had my full face done because I was growing some serious ‘stache and I inherited my dad’s brows. She made recommendations on skin maintenance too!

My friend recommended threading and I was doing a comparison between threading and waxing and found that waxing was more for me because I can’t keep still and I can’t relax my face. Even with waxing, I am always tense so I have difficulty relaxing my face. Melissa asked me to do some breathing exercises to lessen the pain of the wax but like I said, it did not hurt at all!

I don’t know about any of you, but ever since I had both of my kids, my armpits got darker. I use to get waxed yeeaaarrsss ago, but it was always too painful so I stopped. Well, my hubby & I will be celebrating our 10 year vow renewal & I want to get these pits lighter! I found Mac’s Strips on Unilocal & thought I should give it another try.
Melissa is AWESOME (& this is a true understatement!!). She was friendly from our first hello, completely walked me through everything she was going to do, gave me so much useful information & products on how to lighten my skin, & has a simple breathing technique to make everything feel painless. I was surprised it didn’t hurt like I remembered. Maybe it’s the hard wax she uses? Whatever it is, she definitely has the golden touch.
Her room is located at the back of Jenny Salon. It’s decorated to make you feel like you’re hanging out in your best friend’s room complete with pictures. It’s very organized, sanitary & welcoming. I look forward to seeing her in a month.
