Portions were huge. If you get an appetizer, it can be shared with 4 people. The dumplings were quite tasty, very unique. The seafood and beef tofu soup was fantastic. Really disappointed with the bulgogi, it was too dry and overcooked. I think it had been sitting out for a little bit because they brought it out to the table just a few minutes after we ordered.

Swung by for lunch on a Friday and they had a short wait so my coworker and I decided to go to Paris Baguette to kill some time. As we were walking there we noticed the new Jang Su Jang Next Door that recently opened so we decided to check it out. Glad we did. Their menu/selection is perfect for the lunch crowd that want restaurant quality food but are short on time. I ordered the spicy pork lunch meal and it came with a lot food. It came with a salad, rice, side dishes(tempura, pickles, and kim chi), and the pork– all for $ 10! Needless to say I’ll be back more often!

LOVETHISPLACE! The food here is great but their service is the highlight of this restaurant. They change the grill for every single dish which makes it sanitary and we dont get the taste of different meat mix together. Our service lady was very nice, friendly and worked really hard for our table. She checks up on us pretty much every 10 minutes. Place the meat on grill, flip them, take them off and change the grill for the next dish. We came here for my brother birthday, we left the cake for them so they can bring it out later. Didn’t expect any presentation for the cake from them but when she brings it out we were so glad. They put a candle on the cake and the cake on a nice cakestand with a cake knife. We felt really taken care off here :) Thumbs up for the service! Place is clean and foods are great!

Favorite Korean bbq place! Bulgogi, seafood pancake and king dumpling soup is awesome. Unlimited sides. They also provide rice and clear soup for younger kids. My 1 year old loves it. Not a place for vegetarians or only chicken eaters.

I love coming here during off peak hours for late lunches. My favorite dishes includes banchan, LA Kalbi, Grilled mackerel, Oyster tofu soup, and sometimes the seafood pancake. If you like raw garlic, ask them to bring some on the side.

Pretty dang good korean food. Order gable ribs, pork belly, and jap chae. All VERY good. Pricing is a little high, but at least service, quality, and atmosphere is great. They are very attentive to you and constantly filling your cup w/their warm corn tea(I believe). Overall great experience! If you wanna come here, be ready to fork out some moola!

Jang Su Jang has been hit or miss since it first opened for us. Generally we come here for a to-go meal. I have yet to eat in a Jang Su Jang. This one in particular is off of Calaveras in the same plaza as Paris Baguette, SGD, Anh Hong, Lee’s Sandwiches, and Grocery Outlet. Parking can be a little nuts as there are little nooks and crannies where you can park and then larger lots. We generally call in to order just one thing and it’s the seafood pancake. It’s gone up in price every year. It’s also been varying in quality every time we order. This last time was actually not that bad! We hit the midway point feeling super full and couldn’t believe we were only mid way. That’s a good sign. The only thing I would do next time is ask for extra sauce because I always feel like we don’t get enough sauce per pancake. The pancake was full of long cut stems of green onions which is fantastic! Lots of seafood with shrimp and squid, etc though the bf said he felt like the seafood was a little fishy today. It’s not as crisp but full and packed of veggies. Sometimes quantity with a little quality is better than no quality at all. If you want a little crispier pancake, you won’t get that here, but you’ll definitely get the bang for your high buck.

Food tasted ok. Service is really horrible. Kept asking if you are ready to order, and but the waitress was not ready to take order. We had to wait for her to finish her conversation on her little headset. Then once she slammed everything n the table, she disappeared forever. We don’t have tea, refill on sidedishes, etc… So, food is regular, service horrible, price above average, very limited sidedish variety, not sure why anyone has to come back…

DELICIOUS! Hands-down Jang Su Jang is one of my all-time favorite Korean restaurants. I’ve recommended it to my friends and my coworkers and, without fail, they’ve fallen in love with it as much as I have. On this trip, I went in(for the first time) with my boyfriend and immediate, the aroma was enough to increase our appetites ten-fold. My mouth literally began to water at the scents that filled my nostrils then worked their way to the core of my soul! The service was excellent and the incredibly, Heavenly, aroma of the foods did the food itself no justice. I thought it could get no better… well, it did! One taste of the Original Style Bulgogi and I knew the rest of my day was made(and this was on Thanksgiving, mind you! We pre-gamed, hehe) Thank you Jang Su Jang for the awesome food and my new favorite dinner spot in Milpitas!

I’ll make this quick. I’ve been here twice and these are my thoughts. The Good: banchan — the side dishes bulgogi — bbq beef ramen ddukbokki — rice cakes with ramen noodles daeji bulgogi — spicy pork haemul pajeon — seafood pancake The Not-So-Good: any of the tofu soups — this is not their specialty. There is one restaurant in the same plaza that makes it so much better so go there. It’s really helpful that they take reservations so take advantage of that on busy weekend nights. I just love Korean restaurants for their friendly staff. Most of the time the servers are cute, older ladies. This restaurant is no different. The ladies are so nice and friendly. They come when you need them majority of the time. You’re reminded that you’re not being being served by a stranger, but by someone’s adorable mom.

I’ve been to Jang Su Jang plenty of times, but this was my first time at the Milpitas location. Jang Su Jang is my go to restaurant for Korean BBQ because I love the quality of the meat, banchan(side dishes) and its service. However, I was extremely disappointed when I dined at this location. I came with my boyfriend and his family to celebrate a birthday. I asked our server who was pleasant at the time, for more radish wraps. It comes with the complimentary salad. She brought some more. I love the radish wraps so I can eat it with the meat, sauce and salad. I asked politely if she could bring more radish wraps and then she says that we’re not suppose to use the radish as wraps for our meat. I was extremely offended that she was telling me how to eat my food. I’m already speaking to her in Korean and being respectful, yet she tells me I’m not suppose to eat it that way. My mom actually taught me how to use the radish wraps and we never had a problem getting more since its complimentary, at the El Camino Real restaurant. She ended up bringing more but only 6 pieces and there were 6 of us eating at the table. In terms of food, I thought it was good but the marinated galbi was a bit salty. The beef tongue is good though. Probably won’t come back to this location because of my first bad experience and just go to be El Camino restaurant.

All the food tasted very sweet. We ordered a specialty hot pot with beef and mushrooms, the seafood pancake, the pork belly salad, the galbi, and the spicy pork. I generally enjoyed the seafood pancake. Jang Su Jang’s seafood pancakes continues to be one of my favorite. It completely wowed me when I had it at the Santa Clara location. The excitement has since then worn off. The banchan is also very nice. For the five of us, they gave us two sets so that people on the side didn’t have to constantly reaching over the people in the middle. The pork belly salad was also worth getting. I especially liked the marination on the pork belly. The waitress came to refill our tea several times. Other than the food tasting overly sweet, I remembered again why I really liked the food here when I first visited it the first time. I just wish that the dishes would continue to wow me in the execution rather than merely remind me of the place’s former glory.

The last time I came here was nearly three years ago. It’s time for an update! Everything we had was great. Especially the Haemul Pajun. Nothing beats scallions dipped in sauce for the Haemul Pajun! We also ordered the #5 on the special menu which was braised beef and mushroom in a stew. The stew erred on the sweet side for some reason. Everything we ordered including the Pork salad which one would assume would be savory was also sweet. I surmised the chef just wanted to limit the sodium levels of the dishes by adding sugar to the garnishes. Aaaand… we had side dishes galore. There must’ve been eight or ten! And our barley tea kept being refilled. Nothing beats Korean food!(except Malaysian and sometimes Italian food) Trust me, I am a Unilocal-happy epicure.

Pretty good place, pricey, but not bad. I prefer the beef tongue and the bulgogi. Service was nice, except I think I got lost when the host walked off and I wasn’t sure where to sit. I think this place is nicer and cleaner than the Santa Clara location. The side dishes aren’t bad, and loved the salad that came with the meat. The dumplings were really delicious, huge and packed with flavor. I’d come back, but I still like To Bang more.

This is our third time at JSJ. I like the clean, upscale vibe. Nice to get Korean food in a place that is NOT a hole-in-the-wall establishment, although I love me some hole-in-the-wall food! Let me say up front, I don’t like their short ribs here. They are cut too thick and I’m not impressed with the marinade flavor. I prefer my own at home to these, which is a real burn to JSJ when you consider that I’m a white guy. Usually, when we go out for Korean food, we’re on the hunt for short ribs, so for that reason, we don’t request JSJ. We came another time to give them another shot, thinking maybe it was an off night, but we got the same chunky, lack-luster ribs. So fast-forward to last night when we stopped in to give them just one more chance — this time not for ribs. We realized it’s probably unfair to grade them only based on their ribs. So we stopped in this time for TOFU soup which was just what the doctor ordered since it was cold and wintery out. This time, pleasantly surprised. We ordered: JAPCHAE(4⁄5) Pretty standard, but nothing to complain about. Best Jap Chae can be found at Chung Dam in Santa Clara, it’s off the chart. BEEFTOFUSOUP(4⁄5) I enjoyed it. Custom ordered the spice level at «SPICY» and it came unappealingly mild. C’mon! This is a Korean restaurant! They’re not supposed to be afraid of spice! Still, the flavor was good and it hit the spot. Only other thing I’d say is that the tofu, although it had good flavor, texture was too soft for me. It was falling apart in the soup, turning into little scraps of tofu instead of the usual cubes. I prefer a firmer tofu. SEAFOODTOFUSOUP(5⁄5) My wife’s order. She LOVED it. And actually, so did I. Incredibly rich seafood broth, with chewy bits of seafood inside. The side dishes were all on target. The kim chee gets high marks from me since it wasn’t the least bit sour. However, it doesn’t beat the kim chee at Kang Nam in Milpitas. They sell it to go and it’s made fresh every day. You’re welcome. :) So I’ve turned a corner with Jang Su Jang. I’ve realized I’m a fan, but just not a fan of their short ribs. So we will be back for certain Korean delectables, most notably for their TOFU soup. It’s nice to have them up the street from where we live! Korean food is B O M B. If you read this the whole way thru, I think you probably agree.

JSJ is one of the nicer, fancier, and bigger Korean restaurants in the South Bay. Expect to wait during prime lunch and dinner hours. Parking can be very difficult. Last time I was there, they even had someone out there directing lot traffic and helping people with parking. My standard picks are LA galbi, beef soon tofu, and bibimbap for my parents and me, which is plenty to share and sometimes some left to bring home too. I’d give JSJ3 stars, but my parents really like it and this review includes them too. Since they aren’t Unilocalers and there are two of them, so I’m rounding up to 4 stars. JSJ is quite a bit pricier than most Korean places in South Bay, but what I gather you’re paying for is the clean and spacious environment and attentive service. It’s somewhere I would take friends from out of town(but not from Socal) whose food tastes I’m not well acquainted with and that I might want to impress. All of the food I’ve tried from JSJ is solid, but not spectacular. You aiite, JSJ.

My friends and I attempted to go to Gen, but the wait was over 2 hours so we opted for this place instead. For people that have had Mon Ran Gak in Garden Grove(OC), this place is basically the NorCal equivalent. Their menu is pretty extensive with almost every kind of Korean dish I can think of. You got your various kalguksoo(hot noodle soup), your a la carte barbecue(bulgogi, galbi, beef tongue, etc), tofu soup, bibimbap(both hot stone and regular), naengmyeon(cold noodle soup), mandoo(dumplings), bossam, and more. Good variety if your party wants a variety of dishes rather than just straight up barbecue. There is no all you can eat Korean barbecue here. For side dishes we got 2 portions of each side dish and we were a group of 5. They also serve complimentary hot barley tea and a drink similar to Yakult for dessert. For dinner, I had the hot stone bibimbap and it was good. It was one of the better ones I have had. Reason why this place is not five stars? The price. It is pricy for the amount of food you get. If you eat Korean food in LA’s Ktown and Garden Grove, this place doesn’t have as high value for your money. Also the wait can be around a hour or more on a packed night. We waited around 40 minutes on a Sunday night. Service in the restaurant was decent, but it helps if you know Korean since our server had some difficulty understanding that my friend was allergic to barley and couldn’t drink the free barley tea. I probably wouldn’t come back unless I lived up in the San Jose area and wasn’t going back to SoCal anytime soon where my Korean food cravings are better satisfied for my money. If I lived in the area, this would be one of my go to Korean restaurants.

Reviewing this location because the menu seems to be a little different or maybe I’m getting delusional? Who knows. What I DO know is that there is no octopus bibimbap here, which is the bomb dot com at the other location. Chopped up octopus bits so you don’t have to worry about tentacles sticking to the insides of your mouth(j/k, that never happens) or eating an explosive and simultaneously chewy octopus head(that sort of happens). Always get the bo ssam because they don’t have this at many other Korean restaurants in the Bay Area. Don’t be fooled by the one– or two-serving options because that doesn’t mean it only serves one or two people. The one serving is enough for 4 and the two serving is enough for 6+ depending on how many other dishes you are sharing. My friend is allergic to shellfish so we got the veggie pancake and it was surprisingly good. Not equally as good as the seafood one but it was still thick and very crispy. It fell apart a little more easily though, no biggie. Another dish I had for the first time at Jang Su Jang, despite eating there MANY times, is the spicy acorn noodle salad. It’s sort of like bibim naeng myun but with much more cabbage and veggies. So refreshing on a hot day. Huge portion like everything else here. You really don’t need to order as much as you think here because 1) every portion is huge and 2) take into account all the panchan(side dishes) you get. I hate over ordering and taking everything to go but the side dishes. It’s such a waste and a lot of is healthy because it’s all veggies. In terms of décor or ambiance, I don’t prefer one location over the other.

Pricy, but worth it! We came here for lunch on a weekday and had to wait around 20 minutes. Location is roomy, clean, and has a tv playing kpop in the waiting area. As quoted by my younger cousin who saw G-Dragon on the screen, «Oh my gosh, she’s so ugly!» Once we were seated, we ordered a Yookgejang Kalguksoo:(3.5÷5) pretty good but the combo was a little weird for me. I’m used to eating yookgejang with rice and kalguksoo with a manila clam base, so it was just okay for me. However, my aunt really, really likes this dish so if you want spicy noodles, give this a try! Budae Jjigae:(4⁄5) Surprisingly good! The broth was good and it came with all the basics needed for a budae jjigae: sausage, spam, ramen noodles, rice cakes, and kimchi. NOMS! Galbi bento: Did not try but picky cousin finished all of it! The gyoza it came with was dry and too hard to eat. and Steamed egg: Cheap, but tasted burnt. Only one part of the egg was burnt but the whole steamed egg had a burnt flavor to it. I would probably not order it again. THEBESTPARTABOUTTHISRESTAURANT is the salad side dish that has apples, cucumbers, and onions covered in delicious mayo. I probably ate four bowls of it by myself, and would come here just to eat this side dish.
