The few times I’ve went here the employees are rude and didn’t have the basic supplies I needed. The wait is forever. I wish there was a closer music store than this one.

Great Mom and pop store. A few of the reviews for this music business are about the store’s rude help. I know her and the complaining customers are a minor to this store’s unbelievable 40 years of existence. She is amazingly generous and treats all customers well. Books, reeds, rosins… all the things you need right away. The ones that complain I think take a lot of time, say they will come after the posted hours and never show up, don’t pay the monthly rental payment, ask for unreasonable discounts, don’t even consider that its a very small business with little profit, but will still compare internet prices without considering the local convenience. Please give local businesses your support.

I wouldn’t go to any other music store. Excellent service– woman who runs it is very knowledgeable. Can’t beat the prices.

Sad little music store on the corner plaza of Corning and Main Street in downtown Milpitas. I’d like to think of it as the physical manifestation of the lack of consistent music programs in today’s public school education. What you’ll find here are essentials though, like violin rosins or D’Addario guitar strings, & a ton of books that students need for their music class. My little brother got his violin from here when he was in the 3rd grade, but they don’t do buy backs. What they can do is give a $ 40 discount off the next size violin that the student will be needing if the old one is too small. I may have visited a couple of times on an off-day but the store seemed unorganized on those visits including today’s most recent visit, which is a stark juxtaposition on how expertly and professionally the elderly lady who is running Encore Music. She’s very good at explaining in quick detail about each item you have a question on, but doesn’t have much in stock in terms of brands. So if you’re looking for custom light guitar strings, you won’t find them here(they have the rest though). For a local store, it’s an a-ok rating. This is the place to get spare parts, books, and instrument. I’d call ahead of time though, since their store hours are so wonky.

It took me months to be able to get into this store. The hours are 3 – 6 m-r and somethign like 10 – 1 on friday and saturday. I wish I only had to work three hours a day. It’s not a place to browse and the majority of inventory is books. There are some strings, sticks, etc behind the counter, but it seemed like it would be too much of a hassle to try. The elderly lady(owner?) is amiable and helpful and has relations with local business. She’s knowledgeable and her fingers are still lightning quick with the calculator. blast from the past, I imagine thats what music stores were like before all the giant warehouse and internet stores

First impressions are crucial. I was searching for a place that offered musical instrument rentals, because my daughter, in elementary school is too young to own somethin that is $ 500. Anyway, I was shopping for a place on the internet, got their phone number and gave them a call. The lady who answered was absurdly RUDE. I was trying to explain to her that I was looking for a place to rent an instrument, and the whole time I was trying to explain, she kept INTERUPPTING with, «Uh huh… uh huh… uh huh… so what’s your question!!!» Then I asked for her store hours, and they’re not open on Sundays, so I said, «Well I guess I can’t get it then…» She responded by saying, «Yeah…my boss doesn’t pay me enough to be here…» In other words… doesn’t pay her enough to care… SORUDE! Don’t go there! Imagine, it was a conversation on the phone, what would it be like if I had my 8 year old daughter in front of her!?! GEES!
