Pretty good place for vegetarians who are looking for some authentic North Indian food. I specifically said North Indian because I tried their vada pao and the taste wasnt even near to vada pao. But I ate it thinking I am eating Indian Bombay burger. lol. Their paranthas are too good and they have a hell lot of variety of stuffed paranthas. Tried aaloo-onion parantha, aaloo parantha and mooli parantha so far. All were good ! I will be having their paranthas 3rd time this week today. Chhole bhature are also awesome. Though I tried their kadhi-chaval that was not good. I have ordered to-go 2 times already there and they forgot to put papdi chaat the first time(though they deducted the money on my second visit) and forgot to put Bhature the second time(though the manager himself checked it before handling it to me). So just a tip for those who are taking a to-go — CHECK your stuff first ! The ambience isnt as great so I prefer to take a to-go rather than sitting there and eat.

Great food, Love all their parathas. It’s our goto place for chat esp after grocery shopping. Sometimes the service is real slow.

Amazing food, average service, zero ambience. Hole in the wall kinda place. Saw this place when coming out from the Indian grocery store next door and fell in love with it. Have been a regular since. Not only they give you very good value for the money, they serve amazing and authentic Indian food. Another plus– all vegetarian –and they have Jain curries as well!!! Their Chats are pretty good. I love their aalu tikki most, it’s hard to find a good tikki place even in India, so thank you for making awesome aalu tikkis. They also have a «Bombay burger» that comes with potato patty and a very thick slice of paneer(For all those who miss Mc Donald’s India’s aalu tikki burger) I know I sound obsessed with aalu tikkis in this review — perhaps I am: p Another must try is their Aalu parantha — would remind you of the Dhabas on the way to Chandigarh from Delhi. Also, if you don’t feel like having chaat, they have decent meal combo options. Their masala lassi is to die for and my husband’s favorite thing on the menu. For dessert– We have tried their Rasmali which was fresh and yummy like rest of their food! The staff might appear uptight, but they are quite friendly if you talk to them. Not the best décor, but I would choose good food over good décor any day. Will keep going and recommending :)

I came here with some friends on a weekend for lunch. Order and pay first, then they bring it to your table. My friends were already there and had their food when I arrived, so I tried my friend’s paav bhaji and decided I liked it. So, I ordered the paav bhaji and cauliflower paratha, both of which I’ve never had before(I eat a lot of Indian food). The paav bhaji was spicy and thick, and the paratha went well with it. I didn’t like the bread that came with the paav bhaji nor the sides that came with the paratha. Other than that, food was great! Apparently chai isn’t free here, oops(and it’s pre-sugared). Very dingy place, but the food is good! Price is okay: the paav bhaji was $ 6.99 pre-tax and the paratha was $ 3.49. Came out to be $ 11.61 post-tax. I was definitely full afterward!

I have been here a couple of times for lunch as it is close to where I work. They have the option of seasonal green vegetables(saag, gobi, egg plant). I have always ordered the platter 2 and it comes with fresh veggies, roti and kadi. Service is quick and food is not too expensive. The $ 1 tea is also good tasting. Will definitely recommend.

Been to this place a lot of time and the food always tastes great. Try their Paneer Wrap. It’s my new favorite after samosa and dahi chaat. Have had incorrect orders(I always order to-go) multiple times(4 so far) but since food is good, I can live with that. Reminds me of food back in punjab. Keep up the good work. Tip: If ordering chaat — ask to have all liquids and chutneys separate. That way they don’t get soggy by the time you reach home. Also, check for contents in the bag before you leave that place. They are usually packed so it’s easy to miss a few things here and there.

Aloo parathas are almost as good as my grandma’s! Almost! The«décor» is… well…not there and it’s definitely not the place to go to for ambiance.

You know that smell in an Indian house? This place smells strongly of it, but I don’t mind. The problem is the food and service. The lady who rang us up didn’t sound or looked too pleased in serving non Indians like my sister and I. We ordered a few things and paid $ 22. Chaat was missing potatoes, sprouts and chickpeas. The cheese pancake that we had was made completely different from other Indian places. The fried triangles similar to samosa were ok. When we barely started our meal one of the cooks rushed over to us and mumbled something as if something was wrong with our order, but he never repeated himself or had someone who can speak English inform us of anything. Instead they just said stuff in their language laughing and walked away. It’s very rare that I go to an indian place who welcome outsiders. Try chaat bhavaran in sunnyvale or fremont. Btw since this is the only indian plaza, coming here is like going to costco on a weekend, but with bad drivers.

I have been going to this eatery ever since it started, 8 – 9 years ago. Initally they were known for their sarson ka saag and makki ki roti. Their quality was good at first and then fell the last few years. I visited it again last wek and I have to admit the quality is back again! Food was lip smacking! I would not recommend the chai though.

Noticed the OPEN sign at 9:27pm while driving down the street so thought of stopping by. Got in and realized that they close at 9:30 so got to-go order. Ordered samosas, dahi papri chaat, aloo tikki chaat, palak paneer. All of the above dishes were amazing. You can feel that north indian punjabi style touch in the food. Have been to this place more frequently. Everytime, samosas are a togo order for me. Chole puri is also very nice. Quite a plateful to eat. Seating is a bit cramped but food is very good. I’m coming back for sure.

Food is really good. Quick service. Would have been nice if they had a bigger place. But well you cannot have everything. We usually take out once to twice a month and have never been disappointed. 10 Rotis to go along with curries for $ 4 is a bargain. Good selection of Chats and Appetizers and Thali as well has a lot of variety. Thumbs up !!

Once in a while when I go to the next door Indian grocery store. I order takeout from this place as its convenient. A few months ago I ordered rasmalai and it was spoiled and thankfully I had opened it in their store and could smell bad milk. Today I ordered take out — Samosas and veg cutlets and when I reached home and tried the food the Samosa covering was still raw and the potato texture was not fresh and same with the cutlet. They were browned but not cooked through. So I called chat house to tell them about it and their response was«don’t buy it from them again» Well it looks like they really don’t care for customers feedback.

Great value for money, if you’re looking for pocket-friendly vegetarian Indian food that you can eat day after day. We’ve been there so many times, that we’ve lost count. The tea, the chaat, the roti-subjis, the burrito-style wraps, compete deliciously with each other. What’s more, they can customize food to no onion/no garlic versions. The place is always busy and I’m not a bit surprised, considering their central location, right by an Indian grocery store. If you’re looking for a classy ambience though, this isn’t the place. This is for an indigenous local experience — ‘focus on the food’ sorts.

Been coming here for 2 – 3 years now. The food is similar to what you would get in india. The chaat and cholay paturi are amazing and the mango lassi was awesome. The seating area is kinda small so it can be hard to find a table during lunch since this place gets packed. Also their always seems to be new employees every other month but thats probably due to the resturaunt industry in general. The most recent time I went I received the wrong to go order but I brought it up with the owner and the dude was really nice about it and corrected the error and gave me free desert which was awesome. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for good indian food.

Chat and parathas here are very good. Try the following — 1. Hara bara paratha or muli paratha 2. Balla papdi chat The things I hate about this place is the tea is always cold and the table is always dirty. Very crowded and noisey especially between 7 and 9 pm.

I tried pav bhaji and samosa chat yesterday. The pav was very hard, stale and cold. bhaji tasted like chatni and it was very old and stale. The samosa in the samosa chat was not good and it was chewy and not fresh at all. I would never recommend this to anyone. The name Bombay chat does not suit it at all. Bombay is famous for pav bhaji and wada pav but this place does not keep the name of Bombay.

They offer variety of Chat items, snacks. Aloo-Paratha tastes good. We ordered 10 for $ 25 value. It’s our to go snack for all weekdays. I ordered a Shev-Batata-dahi Puri it was average. vada-Pav is supposed to be aloo-vada with a pav but instead they had a ready to serve aloo-vada(prepared early that day I guess?) and a Burger bun. To make this worse, they added ketchup and LETTUCE as toppings to that Vada-burger. Really a turn off. Tea is free refill but it has sugar added to it. So taste it before you dump in any more sugar. On an average, quick service but food did not taste good. Ambiance is ok.

The food at Bombay chaat house is constantly fantastic. Fresh, tasty and made with love. This small place is a must go to for tasty chaat. They menu has great choices to meet most plates. The atmosphere is casual. Simply put, I just love this place.

This place is exactly what any restaurant should be like. Cater to the lipsmacking B****y good food and you have loyal customers pouring in. Love their chaats, curries and everything made. Love that they carry solely vegetarian food so no room for cross contamination ;). Forget the ambiance, just come here to enjoy bollywood songs in the background served with not-so-bad customer service and above the par food. If I must equate the food to a man I’d say it was Brad Pitt, if it were a women I’d say it was Penelope Cruz not that I’m being Cannibalistic but that’s the extreme I can go to describe about the delicacy here and now you get the point right? Just go here and to my experience of living in the bayarea close to a decade this place equates perfection and the only place that has revived my faith in overseas indian cusine. Don’t miss out on their aloo tikki chaat, hot rotis and malai kofta. On a cold day aloo tikki chaat screams perfection and is delectable.

5 stars for their service. The 2 young guys at the counter are nice and willing to accommodate any special requests. My favorite: Paneer paratha Dal makhani Malai paneer Combos Aloo tikki chaat I love love their paneer paratha and end up eating it at least couple times a week. The plain Roti could improve but can’t complain, it’s fresh.

This is just a chaat house so you shouldn’t expect anything grand. The place is usually crowded, especially on weekend nights. The food is just good enough to satisfy your ‘once-in-a-while’ Bombay chaat craving but it’s bad enough that you want to look for a better restaurant. The servers were dull but polite. The ambience is not even worth mentioning. You feel like you’re back in a Mumbai tapri because of the fading paint and worn out tables. It’s just beside the Indian grocery so I guess people come here after they’re done with their shopping. I would recommend the Bombay Burger if you do go there.

I am having dinner right now and cannot stop writing about the food which is horrible. Every chaat item is has a lot of tamarind, hot chutney in pani poori seem to have green color in it, wada seems to be fried twice to make it hot, wada pav has cabbage to which makes it look like a burger. A horrible place to eat at
