The first time I tried Charlottes was when u through my sister in law’s bridal shower. I was planning this party from Arizona. Charlottes worked with me to throw what was an amazing bridal shower. The food was exquisite! I was so impressed with the food that I continued to dine there for my girls nite out. Now almost 10 years later … I’m bringing my boyfriend there for a Valentine’s Day dinner. I love this restaurant. Give it a try, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Have eaten here twice and enjoyed both times. Atmosphere is really comfy especially on a cold winter night with the fireplace roaring. Truffle fries are super delicious. Seafood crepes also good and farfalle with chicken and portobello very yummy. Homemade ice cream was delicious. Mixed drinks were not shaken enough or cold enough but otherwise tasty. Wine seemed expensive for the size glass. Only complaint is that the prices are indeed high for the quality of food — two people can easily spend $ 150 without blinking. Steak was a little fatty and calamari not the best I’ve ever had, but those are small gripes for what is overall a charming dining experience. Will definitely return, it’s a lovely restaurant in the middle of nowhere and the place oozes rustic charm.

There is nowhere more amazing than Chatlotte’s; it’s the whole package –Undeniably amazing food, ambience, comfort, and basically somewhere you will find yourself spending hours of time cuz leaving is just so damn hard… The care, detail and love that the owners and staff put into everything is beyond compare. Whether it’s the duck(that goes thru a 3 day process of curing, smoking, and love), seafood ANYTHING, ribeye or short ribs is beyond expectations. The dining area and bar are both comfortable and inviting. Amazingly beautiful grounds, outdoor BBQ pit where you can find yourself transformed into another place and time, this restaurant has everything. Great staff — hugely talented and innovative chef — cozy bar w the a wood fireplace that forces you to take it easy — we can only wish that we could come here every day. We feel special every time — and never, ever have we left hungry… simply; the best.

Post Thanksgiving dinner here with family. There have been dramatic changes that have taken place here in the recent past and I am happy to report that it is all very positive. Menu has an imaginative offering, and food is well prepared with nice presentation. Wait staff was very good, attentive, prompt and accommodating. They showed genuine interest in making sure we had a pleasant dining experience. Décor and ambiance was good, reflecting an old rustic(do not read ‘rustic’ as in disrepair) country Inn, being warm and inviting. There are at least two fireplaces and both were warm, inviting, and attended to by staff. Everything looked well maintained and clean. Congrats to Charlotte’s on a job well done.

Amazing spot in upstate New York. We came in for a late Saturday meal and the manager and staff were so incredibly friendly. Not only was the meal great but they also gave us directions to our hotel and gave us spots to go hiking the next day!

Went for lunch the other day and had excellent food and very friendly service from attentive wait staff. Good choices on the menu and everything was delicious. Perfect for a cool fall afternoon or night when you can sit by the fireplace in the dining room.

We took some clients to Charlottes this past weekend and had a great dinner. Decorated beautifully for autumn with two fireplaces blazing, the atmosphere was very relaxing and charming. We all enjoyed our dinners and the desserts were absolutely delicious. Very attentive service. This was my first time there and I definitely plan to go back!

My best friend recently got married here and it was fantastic! I helped direct the ceremony and was very pleased with the support and communication we experienced in working with the staff — the owner, chef, and servers were all incredibly accommodating and friendly and easy to work with. I wasn’t involved in the monetary side of things, but I believe they are also very reasonable compared to other venues in the area. We had an outdoor ceremony followed by cocktails(wine, beer, and spritzers) — the scenery was outstanding and the hors d’oeuvres were delicious. We later moved inside for the reception and dinner was just as good. If you’re seeking a venue for a small wedding that offers a charming balance of formal and casual then I highly recommend Charlotte’s.

We were told by a friend to try Charlotte’s. So, we did. We arrived there and walked in the front door. At least we think it was the front door. The place was very warm, with an old house smell. We went in anyway. We walked around and decided to sit at the bar.(Thinking it might be the coolest place to sit) The bar was wet and dirty. The waitress said they had a very busy evening, the night before. The waitress was pleasant. We ordered water and 2 glasses of wine. As soon as I took a sip of my water, there was a long, blonde hair on it.(Our waitresses hair) Our waitress apologized, removed it and brought a fresh glass. I asked for a straw. We then ordered soup, salad and fish. The bread arrived, along with another blonde hair!!! Our waitress removed that one too and apologized again. We ate our meal. Nothing was great. Our fish was overcooked and tasted more like chicken. That was enough. We asked for our bill. The waitress comped our glasses of wine in lieu of the extra hairs. We tried it. Been there, done that.

The chefs here are first class and know their food. Dining atmosphere is pleasant, and the service is great! I would highly recommend this place for a date or nice place to have dinner with friends and family. Classic cooking and presentation with a european flare, but not afraid to go «global». Beautiful outdoor dining as well, and in the summer when the grill is open be sure to sure to order the bbq chicken or another platter off the grill. The bbq sauce is amazing and the chef is quite passionate about his food! Love this place, and was my home away from home for a long time.

LOVE this restaurant. Love the fire in winter and the outdoor seating in summer. The menu changes frequently, but the food is always delicious.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I’ve been countless times. It’s cozy with the fire place, and the dark wood sets a sophisticated décor. We were served on time and the food is always so delicious with serious detail and flavor. It’s located in the middle of a haven of horses, wide open fields, and a super friendly Millbrook home-y community.

Ambiance is five stars, food is 3 to 4 stars, service is 2 – 4 stars depending on who your server is and what time of day you go(if they are very busy, you may be waiting a while to get seated, get a cocktail, order, etc). I have eaten at Charlotte’s at least four times in the last 3 – 4 years. I am totally sold on the beautiful interior(not to mention the picturesque setting outdoors) and love to go here whenever in the Millbrook area, but there is definitely some room for improvement here. With five star prices, they should be giving you five star service all around and though I seem to have lucked out with most everything I’ve ordered, some of my dinner companions have said their dishes weren’t quite what they expected, particularly some of the meats — one of my guests said their meat was ‘grisly’ and another stated their salad was not only sparse, but that the dressing was really lacking in flavor. Last year they did a really nice summer barbecue which was nothing short of outstanding. Every time I’ve ordered something different and I really can’t complain about the food, but again, with a restaurant being so pricey, they could be a little more attentive to their guests and not keep you waiting on another glass of wine or to take your order or seat you when you come in the door and there are plenty of open tables.

I recently moved to Dutchess County and discovered a gem of a restaurant. I was initially motivated to dine at Charlotte’s because of the spectacular views and gardens. The setting is exquisite, and the food is exquisitely delicious. The first time I went, I ordered an artichoke salad to start and red snapper surrounded by a medley of vegetables. MY husband had the corn-meal dregged calamari and a scrumptious loin of pork with apples and a delicious sauce, We returned a week later to find one of my favorite cold summer soups on the menu: Chilled Avocado Soup. My husband prepares this at home, but nothing prepared me for the scrumptious soup I was served. It was more delicious than my husband’s(he took no offense at my saying this). I followed this appetizer with a roasted beet and goat cheese salad. Many restaurants serve this salad, but none as delicious as this — even Manhattan restaurants where I dine. The entrée was superb: seafood crepes, with large chunks of lobster. My mouth watering, I couldn’t wait to return for my birthday a week later. I was fantasizing about the Chilled Avocado Soup all week. But alas. The menu changes daily and the chilled soup offerings were Gazpacho, which my husband ordered and a chilled Beet soup with Crème Freche, which I ordered. It was excellent, but not quite as good as The Chilled Avocado Soup, which is reason enough to return. I told the waitress that I would call and the next time the chilled Avocado Soup is on the menu, I would return. It’s worth the 25 minute drive on glorious country roads surrounded by mountains and meadows, dairy and horse farms if that were the only item on the menu. That, and the view!

My husband and I returned for our second visit to Charlotte’s and were not disappointed. The atmosphere is very comfortable and warm. We enjoyed being able to sit by the fire and enjoyed the festive decorations. The homemade gnocchi in roasted pepper cream sauce was absolutely wonderful! The best I’ve ever had. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. I would not hesitate to come back and most likely will very soon.

I brought my girlfriend here to try something out of Manhattan for a change. There’s certainly a lot more room here than a NYC restaurant and we were greeted like we were old friends. That set the tone for our meal. My gf and ordered one seafood dish and I ordered one meat dish and we shared so we could sample both. Same with the appetizers(we might have ordered too much but we have a happy doggy bag). We can’t wait to go back to try out a few more dishes. Maybe next Friday if we’re lucky.

My husband and I came on a chilly winter night. We were excited about the fireside dining in the bar area. The décor definitely lends itself to French country dining. We each enjoyed a glass of wine my husband chose the Veuve de Varnay and I had a Chianti Riserva. They let me sample an interesting sounding Nero/Syrah blend which I didn’t care for, so I settled on the chianti. I felt the wine by the glass was a bit pricey $ 10 — $ 15 considering the small pours — but the wine was tasty. We split an order of Ajax Fries, which are basically french fries drizzled in truffle oil and Grana Padano shavings. The trip out here is worth it just for those fries trust me! My husband ordered a seafood crêpe which was stuffed with lobster, crab and shrimp. I had the cassoulet which wasn’t a typical preparation, it was served in a small crock and topped with breadcrumbs, but definitely tasty nonetheless. We scarfed down the perfectly cooked fresh veggie side of baby carrots and haricot vert. The chef saw how much I loved them and brought me another plate. We were also treated to a small mug of his homemade glügg which was warming, spicy and on the house. Service was very friendly and efficient. The only real issue was that periodically the chef/owner would step outside to smoke but it must not have been very far from the dining room because as he came back in the room filled with the smell of cigarette smoke — an appetite spoiler for me. Overall a great time here. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

We went to charlottes on a rainy Sunday this spring and had an amazing meal with a large and noisy family group. Everything was so delicious! the service was friendly and professional, our waiter looked after all of our needs with a lot great enthusiasm and energy. We were a table of eleven, and we had some noisy boisterous kids with us, but the staff at charlottes was very accommodating. even when one of the kids broke a glass. We all had different things and all the food was quite delicious. We alll particularly enjoyed the truffle fries which were fab. The kids had sone awesome looking chicken sandwiches which disappeared. I had some yummy bean soup and a delightfully refreshing beet salad with herbed goat cheese.yum. We love going to charlottes and will certainly return very soon.
