Good service. Salt and pepper pork chop. a bit too salty, smothered in salt. Food portion: very good.

Came here for breakfast. I got their pineapple buns which is what this place is known for during breakfast. So sad they sold all their big size buns, so I ordered the small one. It’s kind of cold but still edible and tasteful! I should’ve asked them to heat it up. I also got the porridge with processed egg. For some reason, I could not taste it so much and it’s watery. Lots of eggs tho, my favorite. Breakfast comes with coffee or milk tea as well. I got the milk tea and it had a hint of Hong Kong style taste, it’s ehhhh. Customer service: lacking waiters. They would look at us and then ignore our requests or forget on purpose! It’s so awful, I was getting mad.

I love hk style cafes. I don’t know what’s up with the reviews but I think this place tastes good. It just depends on what you order. Authentic milk tea! That’s for sure !

This place is horrible. The food is not good. The service is not good. The only good thing is that you don’t need to wait to get a table because there is only one table is taken when I walk into the restaurant. You can pick any table that you want. Other than that, the food is not good and it’s expensive. Waiter and waitress are talking behind the counter at all time. Do not refill your tea unless you raise your hand and ask for it.

We came here for dinner. Had the duck noodle soup and baked pork chop pasta. Service was fine, not sure why everyone is complaining. Pasta came out timely and tasted authentic and delicious. Duck noodle soup was also good. Also timely, both dishes came out hot. Don’t get why they get so many bad reviews but I’ll definitely come back here. Probably the most authentic HK style café I’ve been to in the peninsula. Best one being shooting star in Oakland.

I can see why this restaurant is rated so low. Shame. There’s absolutely no customer service and most of the food is overly salty. They slam the plates and utensils on the table and take your order in a rushed manner. EVERYTIME. I was so disappointed to come in for breakfast and find that at 10:30 am there were no more bolo baos(pineapple buns). Who runs out of buns so early… This place is ok, but standards shouldn’t be set too high for it. However, I do recommend their rice porridge and roti appetizer.

Food is fairly priced. Service is meh… typical Asian restaurants. Pretty typical Chinese/HK food. I usually order wonton soup or some type of noodle soup. The hoi nam chicken is also pretty good!

I came here 2 months ago, because this is the only place that open at 8am in the morning for breakfast in Hong Kong style, the only good thing about this place… And when I try to put spicy oil into my food because the food was tasteless, I looked at the spoon for the spicy oil and I go «wow…» The smallest spoon in the world they can get… I really don’t get it!!! The spoon is like the size of a ear pick spoon(if you know what I’m talking about… lol) Is the spicy oil really that expensive, so they don’t want the customer to use that much!!! Speechless… Conclusion: will never go again…

This use to be an old haunt when working part-time in the South Bay. Then, it became a post return flight dinner spot which introduced us to the virtues of Golden Sand Prawns, a rarely seen menu item. On a recent Saturday afternoon, it became a lunch spot for our group, since some of us came from San Jose. Making reservations for our party of seven was easy but finding a comfortable table was a bit difficult since most of the middle free standing tables were occupied. We were seated at the rear left corner booth which proved awkward… a booth for seven? Having not come here for close to seven years, I learned that our main draw, said prawn dish, was not available. Here’s what I tried: Appetizers(shared) 1. French fries( ) — Served crispy hot, great for dipping ketchup. So good, we ordered another one. 2. Curry fish balls — It was authentic both in texture and flavor from my recollection on HK cuisine. For a glimpse, you can see it in the background of the French fries photo. 3. Roti canal — Not quite as good as Banana Island’s rendition where the bread is light, airy, and hot with a delicious curry sauce. This was a bit dumbed down. Entrée 4. Ox tail in wine sauce with spaghetti( ) — Served with the Chinese house soup which was another highlight, this entrée was hearty and generous portion wise. The sauce flavor was good and a bit on the sweet side and meat was tender. I took home the rest for another dinner a couple days later. 5. Hainan chicken with rice, shared( ) — Using a free range chicken, the meat is on the leaner side and portions are smaller. Flavors of the chicken were spot on, but wished they had a chili sauce with the ginger/garlic sauce instead of Hoisin sauce. The rice was flavorful as expected. Besides this, I tried bites of chow fun and chow mein, a perk from dining in large parties. A neighboring table had a bucket on their table which was filled with jook. The big plus in coming here is that there is a huge selection of food with a variety of cuisine. My best description is western style HK food, but it includes Japanese dishes such as curries, Malaysian/Singaporean like the chicken, and classics like clay pot rice dishes. To my friend’s dismay, that shrimp dish is no longer on the menu, though the waiter did remember it and talked about the recipe. The quality might have slipped a bit as some things just didn’t shine like I remembered from previous meals here. The place was only half full, a huge difference from the hustling bustling lines that I remember in the past. Competition probably has something to do with that too. Yes, I will come back and hope to try other menu items, but gas prices and traffic make this a less attractive destination on a regular basis.

Second time eating there. Service very Dispointed. Had to wait for the rice and the second meal dish for long time and people came after us got the food before us. Tips is not part of the bill and they ask for the tip in front of us. Can’t read the bill to. Never going to eat at this Place.

We had our high school mini reunion with short of notice. Not only we must start at 10 am but also it must near SFO. This was a good choice, the seafood congee bucket was enough for 10 people. The Hainai chicken is a must, just tender and delicious. Don’t miss out the desert. If you are looking for a quick meal near airport, this is definitely an excellent choice.

When my family visits SF, we usually stays near the airport, and this is usually the first place we stop after landing.(A big grin just thinking of it.) This place does its job very well. It’s not trying to be a fancy Chinese seafood restaurant. It’s the place where you can get some comfort food whether you’re by yourself or with a big group. Since we live in Texas, we miss HK style food like the baked pork-chop over rice. This place does it well. The sauce is good not too salty, and two decent pieces of pork chop lay over rice that’s NOT dry. Yum. Since we’re there on a weekday, we also ordered one of the dine-in specials. A SE Asian style stir-fried flat noodles(just like Singapore noodles but instead of thin rice noodles it’s fresh rice noodles– sorry I ordered in Cantonese and don’t know the proper English name). The curry flavor was there but not spicy. The wok«chi» was good. And just a good amount of meat and eggs. For less than $ 10 this dine-in special came with soup(some vegetable soup) and coffee/tea. I picked the hot milk tea which by itself would have been close to $ 3. Good deal! Service was always great. The servers don’t approach you like typical American restaurants where the waiters tried to introduce themselves and spend time talking to you. These folks just come over and efficiently take your orders and bring you what you need. However, for several times we came with our little toddler they were always being helpful, like giving us extra cups and straws to use in the hotel for the baby upon hearing that we just arrived in the city, or this time, when our toddler was getting cranky while we’re waiting for our food, one server(probably the owner) offered our child a couple of those little fresh fruit pastry cups that they sell to cheer him up. See the real kindness comes in the action, not just the talking. It’s definitely a 5-star HK style café for us!

Just horrible. The only thing good about this place is that it’s inexpensive. Other than that, I’m really disappointed that this was my last meal in California before I returned to the UK(given that Asian food in California is downright amazing). ~ Customer Service: I’d like to note that normally, when other reviewers complain about the service in Chinese restaurants I’m usually one to disagree. This is mainly because I come from a Cantonese family who also speaks Mandarin fluently(since most of my family lived in Mandarin China for a while too). This is a Cantonese restaurant with Hong Kong style food and even though there was no communication barrier, they were still awful. When we first entered, there was an older man at the reception counter doing fuck all. We came in and in a friendly way, asked for a table and apologised that we might be a bit rushed because we had to catch a flight not long later and only had 30 minutes spare to enjoy a lunch. He acknowledged us but didn’t sit us at a table because I guess he felt it wasn’t his job or something??? Later, a pissed-off looking waitress came and sat us down, giving us only 1 menu between the 5 of us. THANKSFORTHAT. We briefly looked at the menu before deciding what to order because we couldn’t really take our sweet time to decide. Again, the man was just standing at the counter. We told him that we were ready to take our order. He just nodded and looked back down, organising his little desk. If you’re not the one who takes the order you can at least fucking let someone else know that we were ready?(SPOILERALERT: He does take orders as we SAWHIMTAKETHEORDERFORANOTHERTABLE. He seemed familiar with them though so I guess they get special treatment?) ~ Food: Thankfully for us, the food came out quickly because we ordered very basic meals that shouldn’t be too complex to prepare. My grandma’s came out first — a Hainanese Chicken Noodle Soup. 5 minutes later the waitress came and brought out the ginger mix normally eaten with Hainanese chicken… after my grandma already finished her chicken. Thanks for that too, was really useful. My grandpa’s noodle soup came with Chinese Napa cabbage, except the cabbage they gave him were nothing but hard stems. Left whole so yes, they were hard. As my grandpa said, «I wouldn’t even serve cabbage stem at home.» I had a Portuguese Chicken with Rice, which is my favourite go-to Hong Kong meal. The chicken pieces they used were all low quality and full of fat and gristle. I ended up eating a few pieces before giving up and just having the sauce with rice. Oh, and my grandma’s unused ginger mix for her Hainanese chicken. — At the end of our meal, we wanted to pay and get out of there immediately. Man at the counter didn’t give a shit when we waved at him to collect our payment so we went up to pay. He walked back with our change. Okay, so you can walk. Worst customer service known to man that for the first time since I can remember, my family hasn’t left a tip(and we’re always generous with tipping).

Food are okay. I got a seafood pan fried noodle and i dont get why they put in BBQ pork. They never match. Service are just SOBAD! We were given a soup for the meal and when I ask what kind of soup is it, they just simply ignore(or maybe he cant hear that)! And when I ask them again, the man dont feel like to answer me and just ask me why i have to ask it. i cant put thing i dont know in my mouth… Huh. Just feel so sad with this kind of first experience.

Broadway Bistro is a nice go to during the afternoon for a cup of milk tea and either a lunch or snack. There’s a spacious parking lot behind the restaurant so parking is never a concern which is great. The interior of the restaurant appears to be getting a bit old, sometimes having a bit of an unpleasant smell or uncomfortable seats, but it’s not that bad. The service is not great at all, though honestly, you can’t really expect excellent service from a place like this. If you come at a certain time(like 3−5pm ish), you can ask for the afternoon tea menu which for some reason, they never give to you on default. The afternoon tea dishes come with either a free drink or a free dessert, but the prices went up recently and the dishes are simply small snacks. If you’re looking for a filling meal, that’s not the menu to go to. If you just want a simple snack though, go for it! They now have $ 10 specials that come with soup and a drink. The soup is satisfying and I love the milk tea here since they put a generous amount of condensed milk in it, so it sounds like a good deal to me. My favorite dish here is their Chinese jajangmyun. I’m not sure what the English name of it is on the menu, but it’s probably something like spicy ground pork noodles. It’s quite satisfying if you like spicy food and egg noodles. Their ox tail in red wine sauce is a great dish as well. Besides the lack of quality in service and upkeep, Broadway Bistro is pretty good in terms of having a nice taste of Hong Kong.

Really like their club sandwich and iced lemon tea! This is my go-to restaurant whenever I’m lazy and don’t want to cook(that happens a lot) Servers are pretty polite and nothing extraordinary — wasn’t expecting really good services in restaurants like this.

Really surprised by the negative reviews here. We ordered: –congee –string beans –shrimp dumpling soup –shrimp chow fun –salt & pepper wings Everything was fresh, well prepared, and tasty. The wings were crispy on the outside and juicy inside, particularly tasty. The shrimp dumpling soup had tasty dumplings, great broth, and some lettuce in it which was a nice addition. Service was fine, no complaints. Not sparkling shiny new and clean, but didn’t really have any complaints about that either, pretty much what I expected for an older HK style restuarant. I’ll most certainly be back.

Bistro is just that… A name Unappealing entrance should have marked an hole in the wall and not proud owner. Out if place in millbrae affluent area where completion is fierce. Hole in the wall aside, their garlic hainan chicken was boney but tasty. House specialty Mongolian beef was sub standard with shredded beef it was questionable. Down 1 block they make Mongolian beef with large rib eye chunks. Won ton was small and mediocre A choy veggies although ok was blanched and stir fry with a lots of oil

Nice HK-style bistro in the Millbrae area. Large space with lots of seats, with a large menu with lots of selection for HK style food. I ordered the cold lemon tea, which was very well made and had just the right amount of sweetness. The Hainanese Chicken Rice was really amazing! It came with a soup that was grade A: it was pure in color, did not have any residue, while extremely flavorful, which meant they probably put a lot of time into stewing it so that the flavor from the meat went into the soup. In terms of the chicken and the rice, the rice was not yellow in color like I expected, so I thought it might not have the«oily rice» taste I wanted. Fortunately, when I took a bite it was insanely oily! Awesome! The chicken was OK, but it came with a side of really flavorful dipping sauce, which when paired with the chicken tasted truly amazing! Would definitely come back again.
