Get the Gobbler! This place is awesome. I went five days a week when I was in high school and was never disappointed. They make awesome sandwiches for a reasonable price and in a short time. Go there!

I just had their Hot Chicken Jack sandwich, my daughter had the Pesto Chicken Panini. They were so delicious and we now have a new favorite deli.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast. Not a lot to choose from, but the bagel sandwich was on point. Would definitely like to come back to try one of the sandwiches they offer. Today’s special was a cubano

Really disappointed in this place. Came in for a late lunch. To eat: Chinese chicken salad, lettuce looked a few days old, the dressing was great. BBQ tri-tip sandwich: I’m not sure what that was. It didn’t look like or taste like tri-tip and it was loaded with Mayo. Pros: Nice outside eating area.

I hate to do this(since this used to be one of my favorite Marin delis), but I’ve got to dock them a few stars after today’s experience. If you’ve read my 11÷25÷13 review, you know that I’m a huge fan of their BBQ tri-tip sandwich. I would have dreams about this thing — it was so damn good. In any case, it had been a while since I had one, and today my belly was directing me towards Shelter Bay Café to get my BBQ tri-tip fix. I arrived around 1pm, right after(what I thought) was their lunchtime rush. I was relieved to see no long line. In fact, I went straight up to the cashier to place my order. And then that’s when things went downhill. I waited a total of 25 minutes for my sandwich. In that time, almost 8 customers came in to place their order and left with their food(while I sat around like a hungry idiot). I finally had to ask the cashier/manager if he could check on my order. Two minutes later, my sandwich was finally ready. Now if I had a regular 9 – 5 job with only one hour to spend for lunch, I would’ve been really ticked off. But here’s the most disappointing part of all — the sandwich didn’t taste like it usually did. Before, when I would bite in to the sandwich, all the bbq sauce and meaty juices would gush all over m hands and face(and I loved it). Today’s sandwich had zero bbq sauce. I essentially received a steak sandwich(with lots of fat on it) on a soft roll with tomatoes, peppers, and mayo. It was certainly not worth the almost 30-minute wait. What happened, Shelter Bay Café? I hate to see a deli that’s understaffed or just downright apathetic. Even when they finally handed me my sandwich, there was no apology for the long wait. They didn’t even say goodbye as I headed for the door. I’m really hoping they get their act together soon and bring back the sauce. Otherwise, I’m just going to hit up Davey Jones’ deli a few miles down the road.

Another great lunch with hot and delis homemade turkey and vegetable soup and a fresh made tuna sandwich. The owner pays special attention to the quality of the food. The chocolate –chip homemade cookie is to die for! Stop and try it. You can’t find a better, quick lunch that is very reasonable. Don’t see something you like on the menu? If they have the ingredients they’ll make it for you. Happing Eating ~
