For those of you who don’t know I’m an FCC licensed amateur radio operator. Communications has always been my hobby as well as community service. So when NOAA was offering a Storm Spotter class i figured I needed to attend. This review however is about the Miami township facility itself. I got a little lost trying to get there. Being new to Cincinnati I am trying to take the back roads not only to get my sense of direction, but to find some DIVES! After finding out that i was on Highway 50 and not 28, i decided to break down and use google maps to finish the drive in. Once you get with a half mile of the facility there are clearly marked signs where the community center is. Was hard to see them after dark, but if you drove the speed limit you had no problems. It was a nice sized facility. Clean restrooms, vending area with the normal array of snacks. I however found a Sonic on the way in, that review will come later :) We meet in the Miami room, a huge meeting room with dividers and a kitchen! Seating was normal plastic chairs, they provided a projector and a screen which was nice. About half way through the lecture on thunderstorms the heater kicked on with a loud THUMP. I was cracking up, even the speaker from NOAA got spooked. Parking was ample and well lite. The county workers were very friendly in guiding us in the proper direction. This is a nice facility that is tucked off the beaten path.
