Closed again. Food was not very good, service poor and bartenders not very friendly. Guess that’s why it closed. I use to be a regular when it was the Beach House. Sign says they may reopen. Bring back the Beach House staff.

Went on Friday night for restaurant week and had the best experience! The service was excellent, so friendly and attentive! I really enjoyed the new speciality drinks especially the black widow and how peachy… The restaurant week menu was on point! My wife and I enjoyed the ricotta and burrata appetizers before a well made lobster Mac and cheese and chicken and dumpling. The restaurant was full and the atmosphere was on point especially the new music! Thank you Keith and team for a wonderful dinner… See you again very soon.

Very disappointed with my first and probably only visit to Gulf & Anchor. We invited friends from our of town for dinner and read some great reviews about the restaurant. Unfortunately, our experience did not match our expectations. We visited last night and there was a significant amount of disorganization in the restaurant. Our waitress kept apologizing and was very nice. However, we waited over an hour between courses and the waitress continuously apologized about this. It was odd there were not many people in the restaurant yet the wait times were unbelievable. We ordered a round of drinks that took almost an hour to make it to our table. One of the drunks was soda while the others were cocktails. The worst part of the experience was the food itself. The entrees and desserts lacked any effort and felt like they were just thrown together. Specially, I was very disappointed with the lobster Mac and cheese. It was not cheesy at all and seemed very soupy. By far the worst lobster max and cheese I’ve ever had. Very disappointed. The place itself is gorgeous and makes you feel like your on a boat. Unfortunately, the food does not match the ambience of this place.

We decided to try the Gulf and Anchor tonight. Let me first say we used to go to the Beach House and it was exceptional. This was our first dinner here and it will be our last. Our waitress as very nice and kept apologizing for the food not coming out to our table and all the others. She told us the kitchen really dropped the ball tonight. The Gnocchi appetizer was the most tasteless overcooked pasta I ever had. It was mush. And begin the hour and a half wait for our lobster mac & cheese. When it finally arrived and was full of shells and soupy at the bottom. Please bring the Beachhouse back please !!

Ill start this review with saying our experience is based purely on service when it comes to the negatives. The actual food was amazing. The prices are a bit high for the area and portions. Given its way out of the beaten path of milford, I personally feel the dishes are a few dollars more each than they should be. We had the Ricotta and bread appetizer which was awesomely amazing. Some perfectly moist ricotta that has been heated on the top to form a nice little melted skin, on some greatly toasted bread. We liked it! She ordered the lobster roll. It was good, had better for cheaper in the area. He ordered the burger(not a seafood fan) and it was good. Asked for medium, got medium rare. The cheese was really good, and the bacon was the best part. The funny part, asked for ketchup and mustard… waitress said she wasn’t sure about mustard. Five minutes later we got ketchup, about 10 from that mustard. Which brings me to the on going theme. Everything took forever. It took over an hour to get food. Every time we asked for something or a drink refill, it was 10 minutes almost every single time. We will be headed back in a few weeks to try it again. Like we said, the food was good. The space is beautiful with great little touches everywhere. Maybe the service was just a fluke, so its worth heading back to check

I had a wonderful first experience at Gulf and Anchor with my husband. We sat at the bar because we figured we may want to take advantage of the happy hour specials. The nautical décor is done in a sophisticated way, and the large wine library makes a statement. As another reviewer mentioned, the décor is a bit like BarTaco with the blue and white colors and beach vibe. We were seated right away. There were more people in the bar area than dining at tables. Our bartender was very knowledgeable about the specials and ingredients in the dishes. We tried the calamari and clam chowder as appetizers. Then, we had the lobster roll and burger. I was very impressed by the presentation of the food and the taste. The lobster roll was perfection and the burger was medium rare as asked. In terms of criticisms, they do need to get a cocktail menu ASAP. Many people want and will pay for fun and creative cocktails. Also, they should list the draft beers on the wall or make a menu for those too.

Although our party of 4 was a fan of the food, the service was very poor. They were grossly understaffed for the last Friday night of a beautiful summer weekend. I understand that they JUST hired a new manager so I hope he reads this review. Our waitress was hustling as best she could, but struggling as she was the only server in our room. And because there was no hostess on duty, she was also forced to serve in that capacity. We asked for bread when they brought our drinks, but they did not bring it until AFTER the entrees were served. It took forever to get the check, we were given the wrong check, and then it took a very long time to get it back for the signature on the credit card. I won’t go back there until I hear that they are adequately staffing the restaurant so they can provide better service. Other friends of ours were there that evening and expressed the same complaints. We were also commiserating with the folks at the table next to ours about the long wait. .

Beware of this place! Don’t believe all of the good reviews… they take down the truthful ones!!! Posted a very honest review of our experience when they first opened three months ago, and they deleted it! I just hope for their sake the female hostess/owner has learned how act like a human being and not treat people wanting to come in and spend good money like a doormat. I only wish we had just walked out as a few others in our group had wanted to do, but we decided to give them a chance in light of the awful treatment from the moment we walked in the door. Bad move on our part, I suppose! Oh yeah, and watch out for sand in the shellfish… TWO meals had had sand in them… gross!

Gulf & Anchor is a great addition to the area. They have an interesting menu that has something for everyone on it. The house ground burger is to do die for, really one of the better burgers I’ve had in a long time. Every time I have been here, the whole table has thoroughly enjoyed their meal, and that’s not always an easy accomplishment. The décor is nice, very beach chic. The only reason I knocked off a star is because they don’t have a cocktail menu and that’s a huge problem for me. Who doesn’t love a good cocktail? After asking about it, it doesn’t sound like there will be one any time soon, which is extremely disappointing. A great cocktail menu could do a lot for this place, as echoed by other reviewers.

Had dinner there on Friday night and we couldn’t be more pleased. The place was slightly remodeled from when it was Beach House and it looks great. The menu was totally redone. We had the mussels and the calamari, both were fantastic and then we got a rib eye that was cooked perfectly. Service was very good and overall it was a great experience. To top it off, they had Plymouth Gin which is my favorite. If you were disappointed in Beach House the last few years I highly recommend you go and check out Gulf and Anchor. In my opinion, you will not be disappointed!

My wife and I have gone a couple of times, and I’d say that our experience was good. Not great, not bad, but good. I enjoyed their burger, their mussel pots are good, and I really liked their warm ricotta, but a cocktail/drink menu is non existent, and the wine options/wine menu is severely lacking. I thought that given the«wall full of wine» located near the bar, that there would be more options than the piece of paper we were offered the last time we went. We will definitely be back, but I think that G&A is lacking an identity, other than being«the old beach house.» My suggestion to management would be to really focus on building an identity, targeted towards bringing in the young professional crowd, while not neglecting those who have been visiting the brick and mortar establishment for years. Construct a cocktail menu with featured drinks and wine parings that will bring in a younger demographic. Milford doesn’t have a destination, or bar that’s known for having inventive cocktails. Gulf and Anchor has the décor and ambiance to be that type of place.

This is the Beach House. They changed their name and sold off the more valuable part of their bar. The rest of it, right down to the menu and the POS system that still says Beach House is exactly the same.

Although a small selection, the menu is clean-cut with great staple meals and fresh new takes on them. I was really impressed with the crab-spinach dip and warm bread. It was simple and just delicious. Both our meals were scrumptious, as well. The whole atmosphere and décor just works! It’s different and will definitely draw people in. I can’t wait to see what happens outside. The only thing we were a little surprised by was the lack of a cocktail menu.

New little hidden gem of Milford. I had the Gulf Anchor hamburger and it was awesome! The burger was cooked to perfection(medium rare). The burger came with cheese, bacon and fried onions. What was great about the burger was you could taste each ingredient. What I mean by this is the cheese did not overwhelm the taste of the meat and the bacon complemented the favors of the burger. Next we had the classic Marseilles Mussels, which is a white wine and garlic style. The dish was delicious. Can not forget the yummy french fries. Classic Belgium style fries. Served with house ketchup. Finally the desserts — All desserts are made in house. We had the strawberry shortcake. Made beautifully simple. The dessert honored each component of the dish. What was so refreshing about the dessert was the control of the chef to hold back on the sugar. The result was the ability to taste the flavors of the strawberries, biscuit, and whip cream. Last but not least had a scoop of homemade ice cream.

Although the restaurant looks the same as beach house the service stinks. The hostess explained they had staff call out but ¾ of the restaurant was empty. No food at any tables and we left no service. Won’t be back for a second chance.

I never went to Beach House before it turned into Gulf & Anchor, but they really nailed it with this place. The space looks amazing(reminiscent of Bartaco, but classier), the service was great, and the food was fantastic. For a new place, it was completely kink-free. Looking forward to the patio opening. Really seems like it could be a perfect addition to the area.

A wonderful new place in Milford! This is the pre-opening weekend(it’s only been open a few days) but it shows LOTS of promise. They’ve done a wonderful job transforming the place, very appealing décor. Wonderful menu with lots of tempting offers. We loved the fish stew and the variety of mussel pots! Do not miss dessert. We had the pot au chocolate and the out-of-this-world lemon blueberry ice cream. Good service, comfortable atmosphere – we can’t wait to come back.
