Everything is delicious, I recommend the corned beef hash and the cinnamon chip pancakes as my personal favorites! Only reason it’s 4 instead of 5 stars is because the services is a little slow. Food comes out quickly, but you’ll be waiting for refills, if you get one! Great food though, worth it!

My fiancée and I often go to the Red Arrow for breakfast, but on a whim we decided to try the Café on the Oval for a change. We were so glad we did! Upon seating ourselves, we were greeted immediately and offered hot coffee which was fresh and delicious. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches and home fries and it was pretty much like a home cooked meal.(The sandwich comes with cheese, tomato, and onion, should you want all that– at $ 5 and change it’s an amazing bargain.) My bacon was perfectly cooked and crispy, and the ham slice my gal ordered was so tasty & generously portioned that it was enough for two people. Service was incredibly perfect.

Breakfast — cozy. Not busy, Food was out in a flash. Waitress attentive although we had to ask her twice for honey for a tea. Food very good. We have eaten here several times before this and it is a favorite.

I don’t know what kind of curse or nazi like treatment the manager puts his servers through here. But when I visited, my steak and eggs was more like rubber and over hard heatlamps. The home fries were average and to be honest overpriced for the quality. We felt EXTREMELY rushed. Being talked over constantly. Also asked to have a side of avocado in place of beans and toast and the waitress said we have avocado but might not be able to do that. I said«its fine Ill pay extra if I need to» and got«well I don’t know, I have to ask my boss and he probably won’t like that.» I’ve never gotten this type of service anywhere in my life. Riverhouse blows this place out the water by miles. Even Red Arrow Diner gives this place a run for the money. Steer clear.

Just had breakfast and it was slamming busy on this Sunday morning. Didn’t have to wait long for a table which was nice. Food was out very fast… but almost too fast. Omelet didn’t have time to melt all together so fillings didn’t meld together. Service was a bit abrupt from 1 of the servers while the others were friendly and efficient. Have been here before when it was less hectic and enjoyed that experience more. Perhaps it was just too busy this morning.

Consistently excellent diner food. Everything is cooked very well and the ingredients are good quality. Service is good, very prompt and attentive. Most of the baked goods are made fresh and are very good. Especially the muffins and the cinnamon rolls. The corned beef shouldn’t be missed either!

Best Diner in Milford, by far. Food is fast and tasty, wait staff is attentive and work as a team. Nobody gets breakfast done as fast and as good as the Café on the Oval.

This is our favorite place for breakfast. We try to go at least once a week. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is good… the pancakes are the best around. If going on the weekend go early or you will have to wait for a table.

This was my first time at the new location, which is charming. The staff is charming(in a diner kind of way) and the service was good. The food on the other hand was mediocre. Potatoes were really soft and tasted like bad water and the rest was lacking flavor. If you want a diner breakfast and aren’t picky about food, this is probably a decent option but if you are a breakfast snob it’s not a great idea.

I had the breakfast sandwich with homefries. The sandwich was very good with a very nice melty creamy cheese and well cooked eggs and sausage. The home fries were only ok, i’ve had better at Union street grill and Red Arrow diner. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired and the service was merely alright. I had really high expectations i suppose with several people raving about the Café, but i was not as pleased as i thought i would be. No major glaring problems except for inattentive wait staff and they kind of freaked when my sis in law ordered *gasp* plain crepes. I would go back to order the breakfast sandwich if i could get it to go…

It’s not much on the outside, the word plain comes to mind. But just go inside and sit down to get some real home coked comfort food. They have all the usual breakfast standards and a few none standard ones as well. It’s nice to know you have a place to go when you need some pumpkin pancakes.

Summary: Very good and I highly recommend for breakfast Detail: This was my first time here and I had a good experience. I went on a Sunday morning for breakfast with my family. When we got to the Café there were already five parties waiting. It was very crowded but the wait turned out to be only about 5 – 10 minutes. They have a wide range of breakfast choices from the standard bacon & eggs to pumpkin pancakes with hot apple slices. I ordered 2 eggs, sausage and pancakes which was very good. My sons got the pumpkin pancakes which was a big hit and my wife got the breakfast sandwich which she liked very much. The service was good, quick and friendly. The prices seemed to range from $ 4.00 to about $ 8.00 for breakfast. They had a large staff that was working very hard. Someone was always refilling my coffee cup and asking if we needed anything. The Café is bright and sunny with lots of tables.

Café in the Oval is a master at what it does. It’s the best of the«greasy spoons» in the area. Good food, lightning fast service, polite staff, warm surroundings. I love this place. Whenever I’m in town visiting my family, we go here after church!

It was my first visit to the café on the oval. The food was average to poor. My chicken and rice soup was extremely salty, Reuben was sub par, and the onion rings had a fishy taste to them. What was worse than the food was the service by the grumpy servers and manager waiting tables. They were in a hurry to get us out. They never refilled our beverages and when I said quietly to my friend that I thought we were the last customers in there, the owner yelled«you are». Next time I will go back to Union Street Grill where the owner is always happy to see you and the food is great!

I have always liked this place! I can remember when it first opened, but then it was called Lucille’s. Now they’ve expanded, but they’re still on the Milford oval. Lots of free parking available. Simply a great stop for an all-American Breakfast. They make a mean cinnamon bun and have killer, homemade Maple Toast! Great local haunt, in a beautifully traditional New England town.

Not so much these days… The servers are unhappy and the food isn’t any different than what I can do at home. When I go out for breakfast, I’d like an omellette that is better than what I can do in my $ 3 sauté pan. My Dad says you can tell a place by the homefries. These fries are not homey. I hope it picks up again because it used to be really good a couple years ago.

Had breakfast here today with the family. Pleasantly surprised at the quality and price. Nice clean establishment. Nice little extras like an unusual variety of toast selections including seasonals like pumpkin(Very good btw!). Staff was extremely friendly.
