I was looking forward to exploring the area away from the base(wright-patt) and found Big Poppas on Unilocal.I really enjoyed the old music on vinyl motif. I was welcomed pleasantly with nice conversation(with the waitress not Big Poppa as he seemed to be in a bad mood, or maybe his usual mood, I gleaned from hints). They only offer eggs as scrambled and I ordered the Menudo which tasted great. I actually have been ordering omelette sad scrambled anyway so I didn’t have to ask for a special order. The amount of food was more than sufficient; I didn’t finish all my eggs or toast. I’d certainly return if in the area again.

«Slim’s» has fresh ingredients and attitude. Locally owned, 70’s/80’s retro vibe. Yes, wrap lunch portions are a tad skimpy– but I’d eat here again. The restaurant is very clean and servers seem to care and like their work. Con: There was a smell of burnt grease and the kitchen was slow at 12 noon on a Saturday. Owners can easily fix the ventilation and maybe this was an off day, so I’ll back. (They do not ever serve eggs past 11 am, so if you are craving them, get there early)

My friend found this place online. We ordered breakfast there and tried different things on the menu. I tried something simple, eggs, bacon and toast. My friend ordered the burrito. It was good, you can’t go bad on eggs and bacon and the burrito was okay. The thing we liked the most was the french toast that we shared. Now that was delicious. Too big for one person. It was moist and cooked to perfection. The service was great. Very small place to eat so get there early to get a table. Good experience I would go back to try other things on the menu

First the good: Excellent sandwiches, excellent service and environment. A nice change of pace from all the chain restaurants in the area. Now the bad: Pretty pricey for not a lot of food. My side item was a small bag of Cheetos(like for a school lunch) with my «Old Blue Eyes» sandwich. If you are going to charge $ 7 – 8 for a sandwich at least up your chip game and get some«DIRTY» brand chips to go with the meal. Or even better some Cincinnati made Grippos. We will go back but would love to see a few small changes.

Fresh ingredients, owners and sandwiches both filled with great personality and flavor! Made me feel right at home. Loved my sandwich so much, ordered another to go for dinner. Next time I need to try their breakfast!

I was so disappointed by Big Poppa’s Café, especially since everyone else seemed to love it so much. Maybe I just ordered wrong, but I had a terrible time here. First of all, we were ignored most of our time there as the waitress focused on the other customers who were clearly regulars. We ordered pretty basic food, just an omelet and a sandwich(since they were out of pretty much everything else and wouldn’t serve lunch yet). It ended up taking almost 45 minutes to get our food. One guy came in about 20 minutes after us, was seated, and received his food(the same thing we ordered) way before us. I don’t know if the cook was only focusing on the regulars, and just did one ticket at a time, or what. But whatever happened, we felt very inferior to the other regular customers. I also didn’t care for the food at all. My egg sandwich had an inch-thick layer of eggs that didn’t taste seasoned and made it difficult to actually pick up and eat the sandwich. In my opinion, making huge sandwiches just for the purpose of increasing portion sizes is pointless if the food isn’t able to be picked up and eaten. I would like to give this place another try, based on all the positive reviews. Hopefully next time we aren’t ignored.

Fantastic food, and quaint atmosphere. Wish this place were bigger :). But that would be tough for them right now, as they’re dying for a large professional grill to cook on. They somehow manage to crank out fantastic food on a couple small consumer-grade grills. So c’mon folks, let’s help them find a fantastic price on a commercial restaurant grill. We missed out on breakfast the first time we came here — so we had a good lunch, but I’m a breakfast freak, so we came back today in plenty of time before the 11am turn-over. The breakfast burrito(called the«half-pound burrito») was delicious. I do wish they had some refried beans in them, but I grew up in the southwest, so to me a breakfast burrito has beans in it. This blew away any«Midwest» burrito I’ve ever had. Support them — I sure will!!!

Excellent service. Great personality… will be back and often. Very small, clean, old lp’s on the wall, and that music plays during your unpretentious meal. Our food was super yummy. I had old blue eyes. yum basically it was a a grilled cheese version of a sub. perfectly made. Not. fancy, and definately no private conversations tight space, everyone talked to each other, genuinely friendly atmosphere was very pleased.

This is place has some of the best breakfast food I ever had. I had the James Brown this time and it was amazing. I had plenty of their breakfast burritos, but this is the first time I ventured out and I am glad I did. Great clean place and awesome staff.

Whenever I’m in the mood to get lunch out in Milford, Big Poppa’s will forever be my first choice. As soon as you walk through the door, you get immersed in cool vibes given off by their funky vinyl décor. The vibes get even better once you’re greeted by one of the owners, Sheila, who is one of the most genuinely friendly people I’ve met and treats everyone like family. So far, so good. Then, once you look at their menu, it’s easy to see that they have lunch options to fit anyone’s taste. Hot sandwiches, cold wraps, fresh salads. Just take your pick. The Super Freak is a great sandwich choice filled with tangy wing sauce smothered chicken and their Chinese Chicken wrap is a refreshing meal and something I get often. Jeff does a great job in the kitchen and it shows when perfectly prepared food arrives at your table. After a delicious meal and some good conversation with Jeff and Sheila, I’m always energized to go back to the office, already looking forward to the next time I get to eat at Big Poppa’s. This establishment isn’t only a gem in Milford, but a gem for the whole greater Cincinnati area.

Get there before 9am to get the Baked French Toast Casserole. I had my mind set on this delicious sounding morsel… However by the time we got there after 9:30 am they were sold out… Clean! You have been warned! LOL Very friendly, down-to-earth staff. Sensing my disappointment at missing the French Toast casserole the chef(and I assume owner) volunteered to make me «the best French toast» I ever had! With or without the accompanying maple syrup… It was pretty, really good! You should order this as a side and share among your party. Plentiful serving sizes here. Prices are very reasonable. Breakfast stops at 11am so if that’s what you desire… Get there before then. The eclectic collection of vintage vinyl albums will transport you back to the by-gone era of pop and r&b. I will be back(next time earlier for the FT casserole). I was told to call ahead to see if they still had any left. If you’re in Milford, OH go see Big Poppa and tell him Philip sent you! Happy Dining!

My wife and I have been going here for breakfast for over a year now. We are so grateful to have a nice convenient place like this to go to. We go here as much as we can and during the warmer seasons it’s great to go before riding our bikes or walking on the nearby bike path. The owners are really nice, good people. They work hard at making this a success. They treat us and everyone else like members of their family. The food is great, the service even better and it’s consistent which most restaurants seldom get right! It’s a clean nice place, interesting and tasteful décor. Check it out, you’ll definitely like it!

Had the breakfast French toast which was more like a bread pudding with maple syrup. Loved it! Menu said they don’t fry so scrambled eggs were fine with sausage too. Breakfast hours end at 11. I want to stop back for lunch soon. They’re lunch meat they serve is Boars Head which is a big plus. It was a small cute place with very friendly owners. We’ll be back!

This place is a nice small quaint location in Milford and the food is decent. Sadly I can’t remember exactly what I got, but I do remember that we got their baked french toast. Sadly it was not great, since unlike a baked bread pudding, which has a good amount of moisture, this became dry and very chewy. However, a little reworking of the baked french toast could result in a much more enjoyable end product. The seating is a bit tight and there are some seating issues they wish you to follow, which I can imagine is very confusing for most patrons. I very much appreciated, who I thought was the Chef and/or Owner, coming to our table and asking how things were and that we were having a good experience. I am giving this place a 3, since it is a small business and I feel they are working the kinks out and I can’t fault them for taking the risk. So I really hope to re-visit in the future and have a much improved experience, with them working through the growing pains and learning from it.

I had a simple BLT sandwhich with egg for breakfast last weekend. It was suprisingly tasty for something so simple. I also tried some of the baked french toast, which was pretty average in taste and texture. Their coffee was a bit bitter, but not the worst I have had. Our server was attentive and friendly. I would probably go back again and try something new.

Dropped in for breakfast based on Unilocal reviews, very happy we did! The owner bantered with us, but was not«one of those» unpleasant overpowering personalities that can overwhelm an 8 table dining room. Instead, he introduced us to some regulars, told us about a few local ingredients on the menu and served a mean breakfast! French toast is like bread pudding meets monkey bread, which is to say in a word: aaaaamazing. Would like to come back for lunch soon. At the time of posting(Aug 2013) the building next door was about to open as a strip club featuring only age 40+ dancers. Stay hungry Milford. And classy.

I enjoyed this place. It stumbles a bit, in my opinion, by not offering breakfast all day. I mean, they’re only open until 2:30pm… why not offer it until close, ESPECIALLY on the weekend! One group even got up and left after ordering drinks only to find this out, losing customers. Otherwise, good diner type food in Old Milford. I have the goetta casserole which was filling. It was helped by some hot sauce, and I was good to go. Their sandwiches are gourmet deli sandwiches, and are usually tastey, served with bagged chips. Now that I know, I’ll stop by again during the correct hours for what I’m craving. Give it a look.

Great homemade and deli foods! Came here for both breakfast and lunch. Service was great and owner is really nice. I enjoyed looking at the décor which is old school/vintage vinyls on the walls. I got the Dean Martin which is a vegetarian sandwich with Sundried tomato pesto, fresh mozzerella and basil grilled on sourdough bread. Excellent! Pricing is cheap!
