Awful service. My husband had to beg for coffee while the waiter made mixed drinks. Came to get the check right away was it. No thank you nothing.

We were pleasantly surprised with our first experience at River City Diner! Delicious comfort food, quick to our table, and great, attentive server. We will return, probably putting it on our list of regulars!

The food is good olé fashion dinner food. The restaurant really needs a deep scrubbing. From the bathrooms to the lights it just needs a bath. We hit this place once a quarter. We would do it more often if it was a touch cleaner.

A great family place to go. Classic 1950s ambiance and fun. Food is constantly quality and nice selection between breakfast, lunch and dinner. I personally like the omelets, and River City turkey Ruben sandwich.

Always a good meal and service at River City. Breakfast is always available and the burgers are wonderful fresh and juicy. Their mozzarella sticks are unique and tasty. If you’re in the area well worth the stop.

Bad… just bad. Slow service, dirty tables, people helping themselves… can’t recommend.

This place used to be great! But these days the food seems to sit for awhile. We went about 6 months back and all my food including the over medium eggs were cold. Today we decided to give it another go in the hopes it was a fluke. Turns out cold or luke-warm food seems to be the status quo. The worst was the hash browns, cold and dry. The corned beef hash. Seems like it was scooped right out of the can and microwaved only to look warm temp. The toast was kinda toasted but was chewy, kinda like the condensation from hot toast on the plate made it chewy again. I dont think well be going back unless things change. The overall service wasnt bad, although my daughter’s milkshake arrived before our drinks(water, OJ, coffee). Also for a breakfast order and soup/salad(wife got that) around 2:30PM id say we were in there for longer than expected which i don’t understand given the place wasn’t that busy and the lack of warmness of the food. In short, if you cant serve fresh tasting food, then maybe you need to cut back on your offerings in the menu. Better to be good at a few than poor at alot.

Let’s just say I won’t be in a hurry to return to this establishment. I ordered the western omelette and that was pretty good. However the hash browns… Gross. Tasted like they were cooked hours ago and reheated just for my plate. Dry is an understatement. My daughter had the spaghetti and while she is a noodle connoisseur she was least impressed… but she was impressed by the décor. Maybe we should’ve just stuck to the burgers…

Mediocre diner food that is surprisingly expensive. Not sure what the buzz is all about. Cool atmosphere though.

Its a diner and what you would expect. Also has small bar/domestic beers on tap. 50’s theme — for some reason my daughter hates it and won’t eat here. I guess it could be a tad cleaner but overall it is(don’t take my daughters word for it). She did say stay away from the mashed potatoes. You looking for breakfast place or some homestyle food, burgers, dogs in a casual atmosphere this a good choice(as long as your kids don’t have something against a nostalgia theme). They should — great ice cream and shakes too.

Had an ok experience here on an Wednesday evening. Food was very(VERY) basic but pretty good portion size. I wish I had gone on a busier night because there were several servers standing around. The server hang out spot was directly in view of our table so it made our meal feel very awkward. Hard not to notice a group of bored servers a few feet away and keep making eye contact albeit unintentionally. I know this place isn’t going for health food restaurant of the year but I wish they had a few more veggie options(like sides) or more options to have grilled instead of fried, etc. not expecting them to redesign the whole menu but just a few minor additions would be nice.

I went here for dinner. On Wednesday nights, after 5pm, kids eat free. I had the crab cake dinner. The crab cakes were a very good size and tasted very good. The hush puppies were great as well. I wasn’t able to finish it all, but I surely tried. It was that good. Even the roumalade sauce is good, on both the crab cakes and the hush puppies. I could’ve mixed it with some sriracha for more of a kick. It is good on its own, though. Great diner food is hard to come by these days. I shall return here, though. The service was great, too. The waitress was very helpful, attebive, and accommodating.

I was hoping for some home cooking tasting comfort food and this wasn’t it! I had an open face roast beed sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. I asked them to substitute the stuffing on the menu for corn, instead, and I ordered a tossed side salad with thousand island dressing. The gravy, they said, was homemade but it tasted like they used a commercial bouillion beef base, so it tasted like a fake restaurant version of home made. The beef was dry and tasteless. The corn was even dry tasting. The salad was alot of the white ends of romaine(which I usually discard) with a little baby spinach, cuke, red onion, and cherry tomatoes. With a coke and a 20% tip, it was an $ 18 meal that was not that great!

Well I do love this place for what it is, but I don’t like what it isn’t. And what it isn’t is authentic. It looks like the 1950’s threw up in this place. Off putting atmosphere… like it really comes off super duper fake. Nothing on the menu really stands out, but then again its not supposed to at a diner. ‘=======PROS====== One of the best reubens in town. Period. I love this thing. Still not what I imagine as my fantasy reuben, but still very good. The bartenders are angels. Truly gifted in their craft, it is lost to me as to why they work there. ======CONS====== Everything is mediocre… on the verge of bad. Everything feels pre-packaged or frozen. Nothing seems fresh… nothing. The place is badly managed, several of the little«jukeboxes» are broken, the owner seems like a busybody bitch, who LITERALLY cut me off one day, after I was waiting for my boyfriend to get off work, and I was literally stone sober. Wrong. I tip 50% and she lost my business. THEULTIMATECRIME: The hot dog chili HASBEANSINIT. ======= All in all, a good place to take your old decrepit grandparents, and toddlers under 5. Other than that steer clear.

Eh. It was ok. My burger had a dab of BBQ and tiny French fries, like the bottom of the bag. We stopped here after pictures and grabbed some lunch hubby was really Unhappy with his food. Service was good, our waitress was friendly and we were greatest by the hostess right away. May or may not come back.

I was given awesome service today! I wasn’t greeted directly because there was no one at the front«desk» but once I was noticed they helped me right away. I was directed to the bar for takeout orders, and my order was taken pronto. I was asking for a specifically made sandwich, one I love back home. They don’t have it on the menu, but helped me build it, it came out awesome! Better than back home. Chicken strip sandwich, with provolone, bacon and ranch on toasted bread. Yum — mazing. I was given one huge fat coffee that made my day, and my food came out in 6 minutes flat. Overall great experience and I’ll be eating here often. Thanks guys!

I’ve been here twice in the past month and just don’t understand the bad reviews. Maybe they’re from a previous management era or maybe just written by people expecting a Michelin star dining experience. It’s a diner. Both of my visits demonstrated clean tables, clean lemons(really?), clean plates, cups, tableware, floors, windows, water, air, language, and babies. I’m certainly not suggesting that a customer isn’t entitled to a clean and sanitary dining experience but I just didn’t see any problems myself. Now for the reason I came in the first place: the food. I arrived with a Living Social promo so had to spend $ 20 and I was dining solo, which wasn’t as difficult to do as I thought it might be. I started with a fresh-made limeade @ $ 2.99 for an unlimited portion. I knew I wouldn’t drink much more than one but for only 50 cents more than a regular soda, it seemed like the way to go. It was excellent and limey, though maybe a little too sweet. For dinner, I ordered a bacon & cheese Gus burger cooked medium rare — yes, they can do medium rare. It was excellent and cooked perfectly! I added my favorite condiments and proceeded to thoroughly enjoy it. It was a 5-napkin burger… flavorful and juicy. I also upgraded my side to onion rings, which were crispy but nothing very special. I realized I was hitting about $ 15 on my $ 20 promo so needed(yes, needed) to order dessert. Desserts are traditionally a strong point for diners like River City and they did not disappoint. I ordered the River Bottom Pie, which turned out to be cake. Semantics aside, it was deliciously rich chocolate cake partnered with vanilla and coffee ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce, whipped cream and nuts. I uploaded a picture as proof of its decadence. I should have also ordered coffee to break up some of the sweetness but this was definitely a good dessert! I expect I’ll return to River City, even without a promo coupon. They’re friendly, fast, and thorough in their table service. The food is good and it’s a cool-looking place.
