I had carnitas for lunch here today. The service was friendly and quick. The salsa and chips were a great start. The carnitas followed shortly. It was a very ample portion for a lunchtime entrée. I could not imagine how large the dinner portion must be. The meat was moist and seasoned well. The veggies, rice and beans were fresh and tasty. I would definately go again.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. My wife and I have been eating at el paso since the 1990’s when they had the Midlothian location across chesterfield town center. I highly recommend the carnitas, steak and shrimp and tierra y mar. The margaritas and homemade sangrias are awesome. Plus the cheese dip and guacamole made at the table is a must.

This was my favorite go-to Mexican restaurant when the bf & I lived out in Midlothian. We were in the area yesterday and stopped by again. Food is still just as good as I remember! Complimentary chips, salsa, and white sauce are always tasty, and food always comes out super quick. My favorite is the Pollo Asado with extra onions, but I also enjoy the Tacos de Cameron. Food is super affordable, portions are huge, and there’s a huge variety to choose from. Employees are always nice and friendly. Never had a bad experience, and we were once-a-week customers from 2013 to 2015. Good to see they’re still doing well after we moved. Will definitely stop by again next time we’re in Midlothian!

For RVA Mexican food, this place rocks. Just went for lunch on my break from work. I got chicken fajitas and they were delicious. The service was fast. Prices were totally reasonable. I plan on coming back here. Nice and friendly and great food.

I love El Paso! Super friendly staff, reasonable prices, great specials throughout the week; this is part of my family’s weekly /monthly routine. Don’t skip this one, it’s a nice little spot!

Once again a great atmosphere to enjoy some local Mexican. The best Mexican in the richmond area! I have been going here since I was in middle school, I always have to make a stop here when I come back in town. The staff is fun and friendly! The white sauce with salsa is amazing!

My mother, sister, and I decided to have a girls night out. We ordered 3 glasses of sangria extremely sweet it made me wonder if there was any alcohol in them?! With that to start we had fresh guacamole and were never offered another baskets of chips after we ran out. After receiving our food the waiter never came to check on us and I had to ask another employee for tapatio. Needless to say after the poor service and overly sweet drinks that were only half drunk I will never go back.

The food is always delicious here and cheap! We never wait more than 15 minutes to get sat and get our food!

The first star is for the chips and salsa and the second star is for the friendly staff. There are no stars for the meal itself. How is it possible to mess up fajitas you may wonder, let me tell you. Undercooked peppers and rubbery chicken.

One of our favorite Mexican restaurants in Southside Richmond. Pros: — My husband consistently orders chicken quesadillas and rice which he loves over other places in Richmond. — The chips and salsa are always delicious. — I’ve ordered shrimp tacos which are very good. — The have table side guacamole. — Good drink specials on certain nights. — Very affordable. — Most of the servers are very friendly and attentive. Cons: — The combo meals(ex. burrito with rice and beans) are just ok. — If you get guacamole as ‘part’ of your meal it’s awful. –The place could stand to be a little cleaner(ex. booths, tables, floors) — the bathrooms are really bad. — If you get Rosario(per his name tag) ask for another server. We’ve been stuck with him at least 5 times and always receive bad service.

The best mexican restaurant on Hull street. The margaritas are excellent in taste as well as price. The sizzling fajitas are just perfect. Don’t know why all the bad reviews. We have been going to El paso ever since we moved to the area in 2007 and absolutely love it.

The worst food I have ever ate! This place definitely caters to the lard ass large portion clientele. If you love microwave dinners this is the place for you! I ordered a simple burrito, seriously how can you mess up a burrito? Heads up I judge Mexican restaurants on the quality of their guacamole, yours tasted like dumpster! Which is surprising because you advertise on 10 different sections about your made fresh guacamole. The service also didn’t help my impression of the restaurant. The place is CRAMPED! Our server also over charged us by like $ 10.00 and«noticed» only when I decided not to leave a tip. Don’t waste your time! Head over to Casa Grande on Midlothian, or the Liquor store two door down.

I guess you can’t expect fine dining when combining«Richmond» and«Strip Mall». However, all was not lost, here’s the rundown: Pros $ 6 giant Sangria & Micheladas Tacos were pretty good — had the carnitas & chorizo Pretty Cheap Kid Friendly Cons Place could be a little cleaner. My menu had salsa all over the inside. Slow service Couldn’t understand a word the waiter said… and I speak English & Spanish Messed up our orders Did I say SLOOOOWWWW service? Overall it’s just OK, would probably get 3 stars if the service wasn’t so bad. I guess if you drink enough giant drinks it won’t matter much…

I love this little place. There are about six options for Mexican around this area and el paso has been my favorite for several years. They all have similar prices but el paso’s food seems to be consistent and fast every time. The white sauce is awesome and the drink specials can be pretty good. I’m taking away one star because their drinks are extremely hit or miss… sometimes they’re perfect but sometimes they’re tough to get down.

I’m not sure what it is about local Mexican restaurants but I haven’t been impressed with any that I’ve tried so far. Hot Tamale Café, Don Pepe, and El Paso all seem to be competing to offer the blandest, most uninspiring Mexican food possible. My evening at El Paso started off on the right foot — the décor was colourful and interesting and the wait staff were friendly and attentive. Things started to go downhill from the moment the complimentary chips were delivered. The chips were warm but didn’t have a whole lot of flavour. My Burritos Verde were also bland and drenched in a watery tomatillo sauce. My wife’s Burrito Grande was slightly better but still nothing to warrant discussing at length. I’m beginning to worry that there is no decent Mexican food to be had nearby — all I’ve found so far is the sort of Mexican food you would expect to find in a hospital cafeteria.

A typical Richmond Mexican eatery that seemed on this ocassion to dwarf other area restaurants in terms of business. I stopped there one Sunday for takeout. Ordered a quesadilla with steak for my wife and a chicken burrito for myself. We also ordered a large order of chips and two sides of rice. Not used to paying for chips, but the size of the order left me with little to complain about. Indeed the same could be said for everything we ordered. In addition, the burrito had a generous serving of guacamole. Not a bad option for those looking for a Mexican fix in the area, but certainly not anything deserving a special trip to visit.
