If I could give this place negative stars I would. We were there for 2 hours and the food wasn’t very good. I watched TWO tables leave because they were tired of waiting so long, and everyone was looking around complaining amongst each other. My mother said something to the cashier about it as we were leaving, and the lady said nothing. No apology, nothing. Never going back. *it literally ruined my day*

Went frot he second time to eat breakfast this morning. My husband and I have been trying to find a good place to eat on the weekends together and this has become our new place. It is really your perfect hometown, home cooked meal place. It is not fancy and we like it that way! It is like you are home with family when you eat there. Everything I have eaten has been good so far and their service is awesome. I love the family pictures on the walls and of course who doesn’t like to look at a wall full of pictures of George Straight??? If you want a quiet slow paced little place to eat this is it!

Went back here a few months ago out of desperation and to be honest I can’t remember what I had, so I guess there you have it. I will say that all the family photos is way overboard. I get it, its a family owned restaurant but do we really need to see 100’s of family photos of people we don’t know? Strange indeed.

I went here with my wife and 4 kids in December, i have never felt more ignored by a waitstaff than I did here. I asked for a dr. pepper and the waitress brought me a can of coke with a cup of ice. I decided to opt for the coke anyways. My kids ordered the chicken strips and they told me that the flavor reminded them of school lunch. I ordered the chicken fried steak. How does a mom n pop restaurant ruin it??? The meat needed flavor, and the breading was bland. For some reason, the waitress gave me the tab for the table to the right of us. I immediately told her that we had not ordered any meals with eggs. She gave me an awkward look and said«oh». The place needs to provide fountain drinks. They tend to charge for every can of soda. Plus, they fill your cup to the top with ice. Worst breakfast place ever. I would rather drive to Mansfield and eat at «our place» breakfast diner. The food is tasty, and i dont ger charged for a refill :0/

Simple food. Great price for the portions… wish I had room left to try the desserts. I’d definitely go back.

This is basically your standard neighborhood café. Their menu is mainly homestyle items like chicken fried steak, pancakes, etc. They would probably benefit from a few new signature recipes. The atmosphere is very dated, but that actually fits this restaurant. The food isn’t ever bad, but it’s not great either. It’s just somewhere to eat. They are pretty consistent, though. The service is pretty good — I’ve been here about six times and I’ve never had a bad experience.

Fast, friendly service as soon as you walk in the door. I saw the $$ sign at the top but I really didn’t see that. They have daily specials that are super reasonable. Their regular menu items were average in price. Caroline’s offers a large selection for breakfast and lunch. Great homemade desserts. If you’re looking for a good old fashion home cooked meal, this is the place to go.

What do to welcome a friend who has not been in Texas back to the promised land? You take him out to the country… and serve him chicken fried steak. For breakfast. With grits. And biscuits. And gravy. And hot coffee. All under $ 10. You do all this ESPECIALLY if he has been in land of yankees. Specifically, you drive him out to towns such as Midlothian to eat at places named something akin to Caroline’s Country Café. Then, you order him up grub along the lines of biscuits and gravy and the like. You finish it with some dark coffee and stare at some pictures of famous people like Paula Deen. Welcome home. This is the first small-town breakfast joint that I have been to in recent times that actually had a wait, albeit they left the left side of the restaurant closed; most likely for convenience purposes. Texas Monthly has had some questionable calls on their«Top ____in Texas» lists, but all of their 40 Small-town diners have been spot on. Let us move on to the grub: Biscuits and gravy? Savory, creamy gravy on top of buttery, flaky, tender biscuits. Check. Chicken fried steak; thick, crispy crust enclosing a tender slab of cube beef. Yes, ma’am. Cinnamon roll with coarse sugar, a heavy dose of cinnamon, sloppy white syrup, and tender dough… all on top of an unnatural amount of yellow butter? Bring it on. Grits, hash browns, and coffee refills as to make you pee? Yes, yes, and yes! $ 23? Wow. I love Texas, I love God, and I love CCC. Midlothian, you know how to treat a Texan well.

This is a small home style cooking establishment in Midlothian. The downtown area has some serious contenders, but on this side of town Carlines is the champ. Highly recommended while I was in town working and most of us agreed it was some tasty fixins. The onion rings were a table favorite and I liked my hamburger steak(hamburger without bun). They don’t oversalt and service is excellent. I’d go back if I end up back in Midlothian.
