Perhaps the worst sushi I’ver ever had. My expectations were low since its sushi in Midland. However, I crave the life of normalcy and decided to give it a chance… two chances. I feel obligated to tell you it smells like an unchanged goldfish bowl and unfortunately, the food taste the same. The fish on my sushi wasn’t cut right and I could taste the stinky fish smell amongst the bog of sauce. Fresh fish doesn’t reek. My husband ordered from the hibachi menu and his sentiments were the same as mine… this place is the antithesis of fresh. On our first visit, the waiter was from a small village close to where my mom is from in Germany. It was such a pleasant surprise. He was so sweet and probably the only reason we gave this place a second chance. Second visit, the service was sporadic and the waiter was exceptionally unenthusiastic and withdrawn. I’ve had better sushi and service at hmart. I would give it one star, but the bathrooms were clean and thats always a plus.

I go to Osaka every time I’m in the Midland area Excellent Sushi & Hibachi entrees. It’s great entertainment having your food cooked table side. The wait staff is always friendly, the service is great. I have traveled extensively on Buisness, entertaining clients to the best restaurants, Osaka is definitely on my top list.

(Our last occasion was in October, this review is way late) I am sick & tired of driving 100 miles from Pecos, where I work, only to get a waiter that is so slow and forgetful, that they have to replace him after stewing in our seats for 30 mins, then getting overcooked filet from the hibachi. Too long of a drive and too expensive to get consistently slow or even bad service. I’ve been around 10 times now(because that’s where everyone in our group wants to meet), and it has never been above a «three».

This place is OVERated. Cockroaches crawling by the sushi bar. If Midland had 1 decent Hibachi style restaurant, it would shut down this crap hole.

Went there for the first time tonight and I will not be back! I ordered a $ 25.00 filet mignon and it came out with ZERO seasoning, parts of my rice were still hard and vegetables were not cooked. I was so disappointed because I was SO hungry! I politely told my waitress about it belong bland and her exact response to me was«what do you want me to do about it?» With quite the attitude. I was told there was not a manager available! At the end of the day I had to pay for a meal that was horrible! I will never be returning not just because of the food but the horrible service

This place is horrible. Me and my crew went here and it took us 15min to be seated although we didn’t want the stovetop side seats and there were tons of open seats. The table was dirty the kid serving us had no recommendations and was very slow although I only saw him serving 2 tables. The food took forever 2 of us got sushi the other steak and etc… My veggie roll was bland(no avocado carrots just lettuce and cucumber) and then I hit the last piece which had a glob of wasabi that hit me hard. The second roll I got was the blandest dragon roll I ever had. All in all it came out to 30 bucks a person, no alcohol. If you like this place you are 5 or have never been outside midland TX. Oh and a fucking birthday gong goes off every 10 min. Ugh…

I don’t understand the bad reviews on this location. We only average one visit a month, but have been coming for years. Our food is consistently VERY good. In fact, off the top of my head, I can’t think of any other japanese steakhouses in any of the US cities we’ve visited(tepan yaki grills are a staple for us when on trips) that produced better food. My family always orders hibachi plates, I always opt for sushi, and we all leave happy with our meals. Service does vary greatly and, during busy times, expect a wait.

Used to come here all the time for lunch– almost once a week. Lunch here was always a great value as the lunch menu prices are half the price of the dinner menu and you get just as much food. Tonight was the first night we have eaten here for dinner and it will be the last. It was $ 60 for two temptation rolls, and an order of chicken teriyaki. Every single time we come here or any other Japanese steakhouse my fiancé orders two of these rolls with extra sauce on the side. What we got was two temptation rolls doused in so much sriracha(not even an ingredient on the roll) that they were both not edible. Plus his extra sauce was just two cups of sriracha that we were charged $ 3 for. We were so taken back as we have eaten here so many times and this roll is the same every time. Then we opened my food to find the exact same portion as the lunch menu version… Only we paid doubled the price. The soup was so hot, much warmer than usual but after my first spoonful I noticed a white hair floating in the bowl. Done. Words can’t describe my disgust and frustration with this restaurant right now. What a waste of time and money. You lost a loyal customer tonight.

I did not expect much since it’s sushi in Midland, and I live in Houston and have visited Japan recently. However, I read the reviews and figured I should give this place a shot. This review is for food quality only. I did take out. I ordered a side of fried rice and the 911 roll. Cost was around $ 35~ after tax and tip, which is grossly overpriced for the quality and quantity. 911 roll — it was subpar, comparable to grocery store sushi. It was a small roll, individual piece wise and how many pieces in general. The quality of the ingredients definitely does not warrant the $ 20 price tag. The only positive was that the shrimp tempura was not soggy. The side of fried rice was pathetic for $ 7. It was a tiny to go container that was barely even half full. Even as small as the serving was, I could not force myself to eat it all. It was unbelievably dry and poorly seasoned. Now I’m glad my expectations were low to begin with because I couldn’t imagine being more disappointed.

Best sushi in Midland! Service is hit or miss, but in Midland/Odessa that’s the norm with almost any restaurant. They have a good selection at the bar and if you go early there isn’t much of a wait. The hibachi grill is also yummy and you get a lot of food, it can be really slow though, so don’t go if you are on a deadline.

The service plane out sucks including the food! The server didnt even introduced himself, being rude. I asked for medium well tuna steak with noodles, well I got a rare tuna with steamed rice. I told him to recook it since its not cooked fully, i wanted it well done, i got it back the same what the frack. If your from houston, dallas, ABQ, or any city thats big then you will be super disappointed in the place trust me, I would rather eat sushi at HEB or market street.

Great sushi chef and good happy hour specials. The specialty rolls are a bit pricey, but I haven’t had a bad one yet. The presentation of the rolls and the hibachi grill are pristine.

I have to agree with Tisha N., this place is highly UNDERrated. I’m a finicky business traveler, and Osaka measured up to all my requirements: — Strikingly attractive interior décor. — A bartender who gave me perfect courteous service despite the fact that the place was packed. — The availability of Tito’s vodka, which went into a perfectly mixed martini. — Delicious fresh sushi. I had the Rainbow Roll. Other diners commented on the beautiful presentation of the dish. All around me I heard others getting excited about the food, and recommending various specialties to friends. — The price was right for the quality food and great service I received. Like Tisha N., I plan to dine at Osaka multiple times during my two week stay in Midland. Well done.

In Midland on business and went here as a night 3 dinner. Good selection on the grill. Had salmon and tuna. Both cooked as ordered. The cook was very entertaining.

Ive been here so many times. And now I’m working 3 blocks away form it. They have a good lunch crowd here. So get here early. They have a happy hour that starts at 2pm so if you can wait and don’t have to go back to work. It a good option. Beer and drink specials. The appetizers and some rolls are marked down. Dinner is great. I haven’t really stayed too long for dinner. I refuse to take up a table for myself. The bar or I get it to go. That is a great way to get dinner fast also. I have called many times ahead. And when I get there it’s ready. This place curbs my sushi fix. It’s not California standards but good for West Texas. If you like Hibachi. You will love this place. The sushi bar is a bit to the corner. Don’t be alarmed if you don’t see it right away. The sushi chef was pretty good. I did the old trick and asked him what he likes and gave him a tip to start. He then hooked me up better than most others. It’s west Texas and in the dessert. be happy we have a decent sushi place to go. If you stay there to eat enjoy in the festivities. Get a bottle of Sake. Toast with the chef. And if you plan to go back tip well. They do remember you. Enjoy and don’t forget the Seaweed salad.

I came here today with my mother for lunch and neither of us were impressed. I didn’t have high expectations because of the other reviews here on Unilocal, but I felt like giving them the benefit of the doubt. Initially, when we walked in, we were very impressed by the décor of the restaurant. It was a glimmer of hope in a sea of doubt, but that glimmer of hope soon faded away as well. I got the Temptation roll and the dragon roll, and she got the teriyaki chicken lunch special. The temptation roll is good, no complaints about that. However, the Dragon roll was not good. I have no problem with imitation crab, but their imitation crab tasted like it had been sitting out for three days. Also, if you’re going to charge almost $ 14 a roll for imitation crab(crappy imitation crab, at that), something is not right… I have been at way better sushi restaurants that charge way less than that for REAL crab. My mother was also not impressed with her chicken teriyaki. I tried some of it. The carrots tasted strange, the rice even stranger, and she said her chicken tasted funky like it had been sitting out as well. We will probably not be back. I think the next time I am craving sushi I will try Bushido or Shogun.

When I travel I like trying out different sushi restaurants(I’ve been craving like crazy). Looked at reviews and asked a few clients all recommended this place. Walked in on a Tuesday night and there was quite a crowd. So far so good. Sat at the sushi bar which was oddly I. The back corner of the restaurant, but considering this is mainly hibachi maybe not. Service was fast and very good. Server was polite and spent time talking to me so I wouldn’t have to sit there alone. Of course he didn’t realize I was trying to read a book, but that’s ok. Sushi chefs spike little English, mainly Spanish. There was a Japanese sushi chef overlooking things. This was of no concern for me, except make me wish that I had received that Spanish edition Rosetta Stone for Christmas. Menu was vast, although sushi options were limited. Most rolls seem to be fried(I don’t do fried food) or have jalapeños. I made the choice and ordered a Fuji roll and a Pacific roll. The pacific roll is typically fried I asked that it not be fried. Fuji roll was ok. Avocado was browning, which tells me it wasn’t cut fresh. It lacked much substance but flavor was decent. Sushi chef offered me any kind of sauce I would like in addition to soy, I thought that was a nice touch. The pacific roll was interesting. Nice sweet chili sauce, but there was something on the top with the flavor and consistency of pimento cheese. It was odd, really odd. I scraped it off, but when I did the mango went with it. I love mango on my sushi. Once again food was ok, service was great. To me pricing was a bit high, but I have to remember this isn’t Dallas, it’s Midland. Rolls were rather small, but fine considering I wasn’t super super hungry. I can’t say that I will return because this just wasn’t sushi that I would want again. But again it’s Midland. Great décor and maybe next time I’ll return for hibachi…
