This place is the real deal if you are looking for BBQ in Delaware. The ribs are good to very good. The pulled pork is sometimes dry. The sides are all fair to good. The sauce selection could use some more options. Their Whoopie Pies always make an excellent dessert. Friendly owner and good food make for a nice place to eat.

I just reloacated to the Middletown area is this is one of my go to spots. Food is great and the service is friendly. Collard greens with vinegar are my favorite. I usually order pulled pork and or the spare ribs. For what you get the prices are fair. The only issue I run into sometimes is the food is reheated and depending on who does it, it can sometimes not be as hot as it should be. I think this may also be a factor because they might be reheating leftovers. When you get a fresh rack, you can definitly tell the difference but its all good. They do nickle and dime you for the sauce sometimes, but that is normal at most BBQ restaurants for take out. I support this local business and you should give them a try.

Not impressed with this place at all. I’m not sure where all the great reviews are coming from. Pulled pork was super fatty and very little flavor. Baked beans were not good at all. Tasted like they were dumped directly from a can. My husband ordered the beef brisket. Very little seasoning, almost seemed to be premade. The potato salad was very bland and mushy. My youngest son’s hot dog seemed to be boiled. Older son ordered ribs. They were very dry and tasteless. BBQ sauces were just average. All of the food was served barely warm, at room temp. No fountain sodas or fries offered. Best things were the Martin’s potato rolls and bagged chips. Would not recommend this place. We won’t be back.

Not fancy but good pulled pork barbecue. I had the collards on the side — excellent. Friendly and efficient service. Centrally located in downtown Middletown.

Fan of this place. The value they deliver is pretty terrific. I thought the pork was tasty and the sauces were good. Sides are prepared(ie: cole slaw, beans — no fries). Lunch special even comes with dessert. Very friendly and service is quick. The inside seating area is kind of small — a few more tables would entice more people to visit.

Real good BBQ! Just a couple of tables, nothing fancy(just like most good BBQ joints!) We could not deside, and the super friendly staff were so helpful… we narrowed it down… haha! Chicken,(pulled and peices), pulled pork and ribs… can’t pick a favorite they were all great…(ok maybe the pork wins!) Homemade sides were great too,(we had the slaw,(of course), potato and mac salads) Very good prices, Drinks to dessert plus extras all less then $ 25. l have to go start my food coma now! But we will be back when ever we go thru Middletown! P. s. Was gonna take a pic, but looked too good, it went right in my mouth! & didn’t stop till it was gone! :-)

Have lived in Middletown for almost 10 years and just ate here for the first time. The pulled pork sandwich was the best I’ve ever had… Flavorful, not dry and they don’t skimp on the portions! You can choose your choice of sauce too… the Carolina vinegar was amazing! Side dishes were also good! Quick and friendly service. Will def be back!

Small cozy place. When we walked in we were greeted nicely and asked what we liked and were offered some samples of their meats and sauces. Their everyday special is a fantastic deal(sandwich, 2 sides, a can of soda, and a choice of many whoopie pies) for around $ 9. All in all, the food was moist and tender, the sauces were great and flavorful and the service was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back here.

Nice friendly atmosphere. When I was undecided about what to order, the BBQ-Meister gave me a taste of the pork and immediately swayed me toward it. The sandwich was great — tender, juicy pork stacked very high on a very fresh Martin’s potato bun; plus I enjoyed two of the sauces. One star taken away for the sides, which were totally forgettable(Mac ‘n’ cheese and baked beans). Good value for your dollar. Next visit I’ll try the brisket.

I did not have a good experience my last visit. I paid for three ribs and when he brought my food out to me he only gave me two. then gave me some BS reason why he gave me only two. He said«there is more meet on the baby back ribs then the regular ribs» and that’s why he only gave me two well I still paid for 3 and it should say that on the menu. the girl at the counter was very Unhelpful when I asked questions. Its sad I’ll stick with the other bbq guy it wasn’t that great here.

Me and my dad came here for the first time because we were in the area. I got the Everyday Special which includes your choice of sandwich, 2 sides, a drink(bottled drink adds .50c) and a choice of three different whoopie pies to top it off. I got the pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, a chocolate whoopie pie, and a bottle of Pure Leaf Sweet Tea(I’m from the south). My meal was fantastic and I am so full! My dad got the pulled pork sandwich, collard greens, baked beans, bottle water, and chocolate chip whoopie pie. He agrees that this place is pretty tasty. Plenty of sauces to choose from including vinegar sauce. I will definitely be back.

The best meal you can get under 10 bucks in the area. Tasty beef brisket with hot sauce. Cole slaw and baked beans were great as well. Top it off with a whoopie pie and you’re full for the rest of the day. Will be back!

Upon seeing so many positive Unilocal reviews, some friends and I decided to meet here for lunch one day. We all had pulled pork sandwiches; I ordered potato salad with mine. The quality of the barbecued meat was tender and juicy; the bun for the sandwich was pretty average. The restaurant provides delectable, store-made sauces on the table for the meat. The potato salad was pretty typical, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the owner simply purchased large batches from the local supermarket. The quality of the food wasn’t quite enough to bring this restaurant above three stars, in my book, but the service definitely was. The man I assume was the owner brought our meal out on a tray and called each of us «sir.» Later, when we were finished, he came by and offered to take the tray — and called us by name when doing so. I consider this service a pleasantly surprising personal touch that one might never see in a chain restaurant; this alone makes the restaurant worth visiting and revisiting. There is limited seating available in the restaurant, so you may want to consider getting take-out. As other reviewers have noted, you get a great value for your money and the meat is succulent.

Great brisket. But my fave are the collards. You must get the vinegar with them; it’s not out-of-the-bottle vinegar, it’s a special blend and very savory. The pork sandwiches also good, as is the bbq sauce. BBQ is an individualistic thing, but this is always very good and reasonably priced, too.

The pork was good with the spicy bbq sauce. I also had the spicy sausage it was just a regular red hot you get from any farmers market. I would stop back if I was around Middletown again.
