Sweet & Savory Cakes

We have used Sweet and Savory many times over the years for anniversaries, graduations and other special events and could not be happier. The cakes look and taste great!
The most recent creation was moist, chocolate cake buried in buttercream with fresh strawberries hidden between the layers. If you like buttercream, this is the place for you!

Sweet and savory made our cupcakes and cake for our wedding. Everything was SOOO amazing. I could not believe how great the cupcakes and cake looked and tasted. We got so many compliments from the guests. Meghan was so great not only with making my cupcake and cakes but also just responding to all of my emails and requests. I could not be more pleased with how everything turned out and I am so happy I chose sweet and savory as my cupcake/​cake baker for my wedding!

Meghan did a great job with our wedding cake. She helped us narrow down our choices for a free tasting, and it was all delicious. We ended up with a 3-​tiered cake with three flavor combinations: pumpkin with buttercream filling, almond with raspberry filling, and white with hazelnut filling. She was very flexible and accommodating with the drop-​off time for our wedding day. The cake was delicious! It actually all got eaten at the wedding and I heard tons of compliments about it from the guests. We’re really looking forward to our free top tier cake on our first anniversary!

We’ve used Sweet & Savory several times and have always been delighted. She comes up with ideas we could never imagine, like individual cupcakes in the shape of christmas ornaments… they looked like real ornaments! Although she is truly an artist and her creations are beautiful, they always taste as good as they look. Megan’s buttercream frosting is awesome. We will be using them again soon!

Meghan made a delicious and beautiful wedding cake and grooms cake for us last year. We went to several cake tastings at reputable bakeries in MD before we decided to give Meghan a try. We were hesitant at first because she met us at her home. However, her cakes and european buttercream taste as good if not yummier than all of the other cake tastings that we tried. We gave her a description of what we were looking for and her design surpassed our expectations. We appreciated that she was responsive and professional though the whole process. Since then, we have ordered several other small cakes from her for different occasions. Our family and friends really enjoy eating her cakes!

Meghan made our wedding cupcakes for us back in October. Before we booked her, we had gone to several other tastings and weren’t overly impressed. We had our tasting in Meghan’s condo and as soon as we left, my husband and I looked at each other and said, «That’s the one!» We even cancelled a tasting we had later in the day and I don’t regret it for a second. Meghan did a wonderful job on our wedding cupcakes. They looked lovely and tasted even better. It was literally the best wedding cake I’ve ever tasted. She was extremely flexible with flavors (we actually had 5 different flavor combinations!) and decorations, which I changed in the last couple weeks before the wedding. She was easy to get in touch with via email and always responded to any questions I had quickly.

Someone told me to contact her ‘friend’ here for a birthday cake (with a Lamborghini on it) for my son. I emailed the owner for an estimate — emphasizing that I was hoping to get something relatively cheap. I received a three-​paragraph reply about the different cakes, ranging in price from $ 150 to $ 450. This was not in my price range, so I emailed back — which would have been the end of it, had it not been for the incredibly rude reply I received.
Here’s a direct quote from her email:
«What you’re looking for is a grocery store, but you’re unlikely to find Giant or Safeway willing to do a Lamborghini, or anything of the sort, (even) for $ 60. In fact, I doubt anyone at a grocery store bakery would know what a Lamborghini is.»
Her email was so vicious, I don’t know how she’s still in business. I can’t imagine dealing with this woman for something as important as a wedding — or any special event. This woman is up on such a high horse, she must only bake for royalty.
