Try the Banana nut bread French toast ! Try the daily specials, they are getting more and more interesting and delicious. I’m only familiar with the breakfasts. Casual, friendly, locals. Been going there for years and highly recommend it.

Looking for some good diner food after a Sunday morning church mass, my father and I decided to give this place a try. With a window that reads, «The Best Breakfast in Town!» an establishment’s quality standards should be pretty up to par, but, unfortunately for Rise & Shine Café, theirs simply weren’t. Whereas I can commend the waitress on being very nice, a waitress on her Sunday morning diner shift needs to be on top of anything and everything taking place on the dining floor. With two other parties arriving at around the same time as us, we were very displeased to witness them waited on and finished with their food before our order even arrived at our table. In her defense, there were quite a number of patrons to wait on, but no restaurant guests should have to wait as long as we did to have our order placed and then fulfilled. With upwards of fifty dining spots, there is also no reason why all the waiting duties of the restaurant should have been placed on the one waitress working. Had two waitresses been working, I don’t think that the service would have lacked as much as it did. The food was good, but the home fries were rather dry and the steak and cheese omelette that I ordered seemed to be overpowered by the peppers within it. The food was not«bad» by any means, but it certainly wasn’t anything special either. With a typical diner menu that provides breakfast dishes that lack anything worthy of more than a «3-star» review, Rise & Shine Café’s service unfortunately drops my overall review to a «2-star» review. I believe that there are far better breakfast restaurants choices in the area and Rise & Shine Café needs to work on its service before it can proudly claim being anything close to «The Best Breakfast in Town!».

My wash machine needed servicing so I stopped at the laundry mat next door. I saw a sign saying coffee so I decided to take a gander. The service was great, warm and welcoming. I had only a coffee but their muffins looked amazing and there were several people inside. If I had more cash or accepted debit I would have tried some food. I know I will go back soon for food bc I keep thinking about it!

First off, please note that this is CASHONLY. As a person who never carries cash, I think that’s a pretty important note to note. Rise and shine is near where I live. I go here with my husband when the kid is gone. It’s a nice little greasy spoon, hole-in-the-wall breakfast place. There are a few tables and a bar by the counter. There’s always at least 3 or more regulars chatting up the waitress and a television with the news on. The menu items are just what you expect: omelets, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, etc. The waitress is super friendly. Prices are probably average for this type of place, but the food is plentiful and delicious. We love it and we’ll be back. :-)

First time visit to CT. Going from Bradley airport to south Ct. Needed lunch so stumbled across this friendly, great food café. Big portions. Fast service. If we were local would be here regularly.

I was looking for a place nearby to have breakfast and I stumbled upon this hole in the wall. The eggs Benedict was very good, and the lady who owns the place was very nice. There were a lot of regulars there so they obviously keep people coming back for more.

This place is pretty close to our house and after seeing the good reviews, we decided to give it a try on my day off. When we arrived, a couple of city workers and DOT guys(all driving trucks) were coming out — in my opinion, the sign of a good breakfast joint. Anyway, my husband and I both ordered omelet specials and they were good. We would definitely go back.

Heard about this place from a friend and visited for the first time, we were not disappointed. The owner was wonderful and the omelettes, grits and pancakes top notch. Love the country décor.

I tried this little place tucked away in a small strip mall. I was pleasntly surprised, and will go back for more. Three weeks ago I was traveling the backroads to Middletown, and stopped in, it was about 6:30am. There were a bunch of regulars, and the lady who owns, waits and cooks warmly greeted me. I had a mushroom Omelette special with corned beef hash on the side. Both were very good. I was very satisfied. They are open for breakfast and lunch.
