I have had an amazing experience every time I’ve visited Nana’s. The food is delicious and the staff is friendly and great! Love the meatloaf and fish and chips.

We took a road trip today, and we stopped here for an early dinner. Our waitress, Teena, was very attentive and informative. We ordered the house specialty, Scottish eggs, for our appetizer. They were crispy on the outside and the stoneground mustard accompaniment was perfect. The bread and butter pickles were also good. My husband got the soup of the day, a mixture of root vegetables in creamy broth, served with generous slice of Irish soda bread. Both were good. His main course was the Bridget’s Chicken pot pie which had plenty of vegetables and large pieces of chicken with a puff pastry crust. I had the bangers and mash, which featured homemade mashed potatoes and steamed peas which were perfectly done. The bangers were good, but a little bland. The mushroom gravy tied it together. It was savory and hot. The meals were also served with soda bread. We enjoyed it very much and will come back when we are in the area.

After doing some research for some fish and chips to take my grandmother to(fish and chips on Friday night is her thing). I read the reviews about Nana’s and decided it was a must go! It is such a charming building. Built in the 1890’s it was Middletown State Bank for a bit(insert buildings charm) The old wood floors are fantastic as is the whole dining area and teeny tiny bar downstairs! They still have the original bank safe that they use for servers! The décor is rustic and cozy. Homey like dining room chairs. Great Irish saying etched into the glass partitions, cool tin like ceiling tiles, original red brick walls, beer paraphernalia galore! Almost like I was back on the emerald island! We were greeted immediately and our party of 10(7 adults and 3 children). The adults started off with a few pints of Smithwicks(on tap)(ps: I have loved this beer since I had it in Ireland a few years back and I’ve only seen a few places that have it on tap and not bottled) and a well made White Russian. A few orders of Emerald Isle chips, one with and without corned beef, these were a very tasty version of loaded French fries. I got the scotch eggs. They were really good. The side of grainy mustard and pickles were really tummy too! They also have a very nice children menu with simple items such as grilled cheese, and steamed peas, but they also have more«mature» kids items like fish and chips and bangers and mash! My nephew and nieces got these items and loved them all. My 4 year old nephew got the grilled cheese and steamed peas. He was quite happy with his meal, however, my 6 year old niece got the fish and chips and she said it was delicious. I was quite impressed a 6 year old liked the cod, and my other nephew(8) got the bangers and mash! He really liked them and their name. Solid proof they are Irish down to the bone! 3 of us(Gram included) got the adult portion fish and chips. 2HUGE portions of cod in a lovely beer batter and a hearty serving if thick, hot, and crispy chips, tartar sauce, slaw adorned with a bread and butter pickle, and a wedge of lemon to finish off the plate.(I did think the batter was a bit thick/heavy although it was very crips and tasty). And as expected there was Malt vinegar is on the table for self application. My sister in laws got the meat loaf with mash and a Philly cheese steak with chips both said they were delicious and the portions were very generous! My brothers got the Dublin cheeseburger and the corned beef and cabbage. Both were huge! And very much enjoyed! The food did come out in waves being that there was 10 of us and the kitchen is very small, but they do make it work well. The corns need and cabbage was the last plate to come out but it was just a few minutes behind everyone else’s. Our server made sure the kids and Gram for their food first and then the rest of the rest of the dishes rolled out one after the other in rapid succession. Both of my brother(they live near by) said they would definitely come back. My one sister in law told my brother she expected to come back for a date night and she was very glad I found the place. I will definitely come back when I am in town on a forest to keep up Grams tradition of fish and chips on Friday night!

Great food great service! Nana’s has a great atmosphere the food is great and the BEERISCOLD! If you venture down the stairs you will find the pub. The walls are covered in a collection of patches from patrons who have visited from all over the world, the tables are made from old sewing machines and wire spools. It is located in the old bank of Middletown and still has the old safe in the dinning room. Every time I visit Nana’s I make a new friend. I would recommend checking out the pub downstairs after 5:00 till close. You never know who you might run into. Also beware! Nana’s is said to be haunted!

Visited Nana’s recently not to be disappointed. Food was exceptional and service was also above expectations. Will likely visit again– prices above average although quality met the price point!

A little off the beaten path of 81 we decided to try this place. Excellent décor– place is like 125 or more years old with some interesting history. Service here is amazing. Small town feeling but very focused staff(Melissa) knew the menu and options well. We had the corned beef and cabbage and it was incredible. Potatoes and cabbage were cooked very well. The sauce on the potatoes — I could drink it. Carrots were served with the plate and they were well balanced(sweet) with the salty meat taste. The horseradish mustard complimented the corned beef extreme well. Unfortunately this place is like 1300 miles from home of we would make this a biweekly ritual.

The husband and I decided to try Nana’s Irish Pub for a leisurely lunch after visiting a church today. Trusting you many helpful reviewers, who collectively are«spot on», we scored big time at Nana’s(thanks!) contributing to a delightful Sunday. Rolling into the quiet little town of Middleton, we found Nana’s on the main street in what was, at one time, a bank. The wood floors showed years of foot traffic, the red interior brick appeared original and wooden chairs & tables gave a warm, welcoming pub feel to a small, cozy dining area. We were greeted by our Hostess/Server, Jesse, who we would come to discover worked as efficiently as her friendly disposition was effervescent. Every restaurant owner would be super blessed to have such a powerhouse of a young person to manage the dining area(with the assistance of only one other young lady to fill glasses, clear plates, etc.) as Jesse! And if they were not able to woo her from Nana’s(God forbid!) Jesse could have a side business as «front-of-the-house» consultant. Excellent catch, Nana! As a hard copy, the menu is a bit ragged… literally. While the beverage selections were listed on a separate menu that was nicely laminated, the menu items were far too interesting and enticing(and the food so delicious) to be listed on heavy card stock that had torn edges and lacked a fresh feel. Nana’s deserves better than that. Jesse skillfully advised us on the many choices from the menu and we «narrowed it down to six»! Okay…2 seniors are NOT going to actually DO that, especially when we had already ordered the Scotch Eggs(fabulous!) as an appetizer and hoped to have room for Irish coffee and one of their bread puddings after dinner! So the husband ordered the fish and chips and I ordered the(Beef) Shepherd’s Pie. My husband’s fish(cod) was thick, moist, tender and yummy. His coleslaw was creamy, tasted fresh, and not at all bitter.(The fries were just ordinary.) My Shepherd’s Pie was so flavorful – full of rich gravy(not greasy) and veges. For most diners’ palettes, I’m guessing the average response would be that«it has a little kick». For me, it was unexpectedly spicy and I’m very sensitive to spicy. I wasn’t told about this but I’m assuming that the kick that gives it flavor is not very noticeable to other diners to even comment. Nevertheless, the flavor was excellent and we both brought home what we couldn’t finish. Although we tried, there was no room for coffee or dessert… but sitting here writing this… I HAVEROOMNOW!!! Although a little pricier($ 13 ea. entre) than we would usually pay for lunch, we’d definitely go back to Nana’s. We still want to try the meatloaf, the Ruben, coffee, some of the beers, dessert. But Nana’s is almost 50 miles from our home. Ya’ll are lucky out there!

Great find in Middletown. The food was good – we were in town for the weekend and went for lunch Saturday and Sunday. The service was great, drinks were good and it was a great comfortable atmosphere. We’ll be back!

Nana’ is a fantastic, little secret off the beaten path in a quaint, historic town. We opted to dine in the basement pub area(full menu) and the bartender skillfully satisfied a rail full of guests while waiting three tables. The food was hot, flavorful and fantastic! Try the Scotch eggs for a unique and explosive appetizer. We’ll be going back.

This was a nice place to stop for lunch. I ordered the Reuben, which was gigantic! The corned beef was tasty, although I would have liked a tad more dressing. The large fries that came with it were just mediocre. My dining companion ordered the cheeseburger, and said it was delicious. It looked juicy, although it seemed to be cooked about medium, and she had ordered it, «as rare as you can make it». The service was fantastic– the waitress was so friendly and sweet. If I lived closer I would definitely stop back in to give it another try!

I have been here numerous times and have never had a bad meal. The atmosphere is typical Irish Pub with Irish music playing while you eat. One of my Valley favorites. Bangers and mash great … Nana’s meat loaf great as well as corn beef hash with eggs, usually a special. Again great food, great atmosphere and a must stop.

I enjoy Nana’s. I’m vegetarian and they do include a sandwich and curry«pot pie» along with some salads. What I really LOVE about this place is the Irish soda bread and Magner’s cider on tap. I love being able to walk to the pub and hang out while drinking a snakebite and eating that bread. Makes for a fun Friday night. My husband most enjoys the fact that they have burgers(as the Irish pub that was previously there refused to serve him one). All in all I’d say Nana’s is a fantastic addition to Middletown’(limited) dining choices.

Our new favorite place in the valley. The service is fabulous, atmosphere small but inviting. Food out of this world. So happy to find a «go to» place for date night or weeknight dinner with the family.

Every once in a while I get a craving for good fish and chips. The standard I go by are the shops that were common in the part of Scotland where I lived. There, cripsy and flavorful fish and chips were served wrapped in a page from a recent newspaper. Add a little malt vinegar and it’s the perfect lunch. Just like the pizza in Boston or NY can’t be duplicated outside those places fish and chips just isn’t the same here. Nana’s did a fine job but maybe a little too refined. All was served in a basket lined with fake newspaper. Don’t go fake. If you can’t use newspaper(not sure how others would take it) just use plain paper. That’s about the only complaint I had. The fish was hot and flaky and the batter was crispy. I didn’t ask if it was battered on premises or shipped in frozen. The chips weren’t greasy and were cooked just right with a bit of a crisp on the outside and soft potato on the inside. Apparently Nana’s is divided into a restaurant on the top floor and bar down stairs. I stayed in the restaurant. It was cozy, comfortable and casual. I’m looking forward to trying some of their other dishes but I’m still in search of great fish and chips.

My husband & I recently saw«Nana’s Irish Pub» on Rt. 81’s Exit 302 attractions sign and was surprised not to know of it being from the area. Low & behold, it used to be the Irish Isle, which my husband & I never stopped at because the outside sign looked unappealing, and we figured the inside would be the same. After checking out their Facebook page, we decided to give it a try. We loved the cozy atmosphere of the dining area and the staff was super friendly. Our server was very attentive but not in a pushy or annoying way. We loved her. We started off with the Colcannon soup(it was the soup of the day) and the baked brie appetizer. Both were really good. The soup was very creamy and seasoned perfectly. The baked brie came with a yummy marmalade and thin, crisp granny smith apple slices. For dinner we stuck to traditional Irish fare… shepherd’s pie and fish & chips. The shepherd’s pie was flavorful and definitely something we’d be coming back for. The fish & chips was a large, «healthy» portion but not so healthy with the batter being soggy with oil. However, the fish inside was pretty good, and I would give it a second chance. The prices are definitely fair. Give this place a try.
